Summary: JESUS, THE JUSTIFIER OF WICKED MEN

Job 9:1-2; 25:1-6 JESUS, THE JUSTIFIER OF WICKED MEN

25:4 How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

Both Job and Bildad asked the question, How can man be justified with God?

I. CONSIDER THE WRETCHEDNESS OF MAN

Job 25:6 How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

As a worm,

A. Man is Made from Dirt

Gen 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

B. Man Dwells in the Dirt

Mark 5:2 And when he was come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, 3 Who had his dwelling among the tombs;

C. Man Digs in the Dirt

1. He investigates sin (Prodigal)

Luke 15:13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country,

2. He wallows in sin 13 and there wasted his substance with riotous living.

D. Man is Dominated by Dirt

14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.

1. He gets covered with it, 2. He looks like it, 3. He smells like it

II. CONSIDER THE WICKEDNESS OF MAN

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

A. Man is Defiled

B. Man is Devilish - Jn. 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

1. Devil-Led 2. Devil-Taught 3. Devil-Caught

C. Man is Dead - Eph. 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;

D. Man is Doomed - Jn. 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

III. CONSIDER THE WORK OF THE SAVIOUR

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Romans 5:9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.

A. His Incarnation - The God of heaven became the God-man on earth - 1 Tim. 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

B. His Crucifixion - The godly Son died for ungodly sinners -

Rom. 5:6 For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

C. His Substitution - The guiltless took the guilt of the guilty -

Gal. 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:

D. His Resurrection - Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

E. His Ascension - Hebrews 2:9 But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. 10 For it became him, for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

F. His Intercession - Heb 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

IV. CONSIDER THE WAY TO SALVATION

Romans 3:30 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

A. Justification Is Full

Acts 13:39 And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

B. Justification Is Free

Rom 3:24 Therefore being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

C. Justification Is By Faith

Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

D. Justification Is Forever

Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
