D. The Lord and His World - 1:4-13

1. They Did Not Realize What He Was - 1: 4,5 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.

a. The Lord - 1:4 "in Him"

b. The Life - 1:4 "was Life"

c. The Light - 1:4 "and the Life was the light of men"

2. They Did Not Realize Why He Was - 1:6-9

a. The Power of John - 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.

b. The Purposes of John - 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 1) The Witness of John Was To Elevate The Savior - 1:7a

2) The Work of John Was To Evangelize The Sinner - 1:7b

c. The Position of John - 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

d. The Proclamation of John - 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 3. They Did Not Realize Who He Was - 1:9,10 a. The Intervention of The True Light 1:9 That was the true Light b.The Intention of The True Light - 1:9 which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. c.The Incarnation of The True Light - 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

4. They Did Not Receive Him As He Was - 1:11-13 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Everyone who has heard the Gospel will do something with Jesus. Here are three possibilities. THERE ARE REJECTORS - Vss. 10-11 Some will refuse to believe in Jesus Christ as their Saviour. A person who makes no decision concerning Christ has actually decided not to believe in Christ. THERE ARE RECEIVERS - Vss. 12-13 Every person who believes in Christ becomes a child of God and has been born of God. THERE ARE REFLECTORS - Vs. 14 John saw Christ's glory and believed on Him. After that he reflected that glory through His words and his actions. Are you a rejecter, a receiver or a reflector?
