STRENGTH(:69)

Explanation:(:69)

:69—“And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of His servant David,”

We are redeemed, With what?—Precious perfect blood of the Son of God. From what were we redeemed?...Our fleshly decisions to trust ourselves...from indulgence(s) of the flesh!

God’s visitation had raised up something tangible to give sight to salvation. the Salvation is for God’s people.

The salvation had occurred thru the house of King David. David’s physical kindred were part of God’s plan.

David was a man after God’s own heart!

1Sam. 13:14—“But now your kingdom shall not continue. The LORD has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, & the LORD has commanded him to be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the LORD commanded you.”

Acts 13:22—“And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony & said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’

A conflation of 3 texts: Ps. 89:20; 1Sam. 13:14; Isa. 44:28.

God had promised to raise up salvation thru His Messiah & that this Messiah would be from David’s flesh or genealogical line.(Isa. 9:7; 11:1-2; Jer. 23:5-6; 33:20-26; Eze. 34:23-24; 37:24-25; Amos 9:11; Rom. 1:3)

Thru DAVID:

Isa. 11:1-5—“There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots. The Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him, The Spirit of wisdom & understanding, The Spirit of counsel & might, The Spirit of knowledge & of the fear of the LORD. His delight is in the fear of the LORD, And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, Nor decide by the hearing of His ears; But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, And faithfulness the belt of His waist.”

Mat. 1:1-2, 5-6, 16 —“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham: Abraham begot Isaac....”....“Salmon begot Boaz by Rahab, Boaz begot Obed by Ruth, Obed begot Jesse, & Jesse begot David the king. David the king begot Solomon by her who had been the wife of Uriah.”....“And Jacob[NT] begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ.”

Rev. 22:16—“I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root & the Offspring of David, the Bright & Morning Star.”

“Horn”—kerav—1) A horn—1a) Of animals, 1b) Since animals (esp. bulls) defend themselves with their horns, the horn with the Hebrews (& other nations) is a symbol of strength & courage, & used as such in a variety of phrases—1b1) A mighty & valiant helper, the author of deliverance, of the Messiah, 1c) A projecting extremity in a shape like a horn, a point, apex: as of an altar. Strong—from a primary kar(the hair of the head); A horn(literally or figuratively). Used 11X.

“Salvation”—swthria—Noun Fem.—1) Deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation; 2) Salvation as the present possession of all true Christians; 3) Future salvation, the sum of benefits & blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated & eternal kingdom of God. Strong—feminine of a derivative of swthr[Deliverer] as (properly, abstract)noun; Rescue or safety(physically or morally).

“Servant”—paiv—Noun Masc./Fem.—1) A child, boy or girl—1a) Infants, children; 2) Servant, slave—2a) an attendant, servant, spec. a king's attendant, minister. Paiv refers to a child of any age. Paiv as well as teknon emphasizes the idea of descent, but gives especial prominence to age, denoting a child as one who is young. Paiv is also often used of a servant. The number of years covered by the term paiv is quite indefinite. Strong—A boy(as often beaten with impunity), or by analogy--A girl, & (genitive case)--A child; specifically--A slave or servant(especially a minister to a king; & by eminence to God).

Argumentation:

Ps. 89:20-24—“I have found My servant David; With My holy oil I have anointed him, With whom My hand shall be established; Also My arm shall strengthen him. The enemy shall not outwit him, Nor the son of wickedness afflict him. I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him. But My faithfulness & My mercy shall be with him, And in My name his horn shall be exalted.”

Ps. 18:1-3—<> I will love You, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock & my fortress & my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield & the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.”

Ps. 132:13-18—“For the LORD has chosen Zion; He has desired it for His dwelling place: “This is My resting place forever; Here I will dwell, for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation, And her saints shall shout aloud for joy. There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame, But upon Himself His crown shall flourish.”

Isa. 8:16-9:7—“Bind up the testimony, Seal the law among my disciples. And I will wait on the LORD, Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; And I will hope in Him. Here am I & the children whom the LORD has given me! We are for signs & wonders in Israel From the LORD of hosts, Who dwells in Mount Zion. And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums & wizards, who whisper & mutter,” should not a people seek their God? Should they seek the dead on behalf of the living? To the law & to the testimony! If they do not speak according to this word, it is because there is no light in them. They will pass through it hard pressed & hungry; & it shall happen, when they are hungry, that they will be enraged & curse their king & their God, & look upward. Then they will look to the earth, & see trouble & darkness, gloom of anguish; & they will be driven into darkness. Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun & the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed her, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined. You have multiplied the nation And increased its joy; They rejoice before You According to the joy of harvest, As men rejoice when they divide the spoil. For You have broken the yoke of his burden And the staff of his shoulder, The rod of his oppressor, As in the day of Midian. For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle, And garments rolled in blood, Will be used for burning & fuel of fire. For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government & peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David & over His kingdom, To order it & establish it with judgment & justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

**Ex. 15:2, 6—“The LORD is my strength & song, And He has become my salvation; He is my God, & I will praise Him; My father’s God, & I will exalt Him.”.....“Your right hand, O LORD, has become glorious in power; Your right hand, O LORD, has dashed the enemy in pieces.”

**Ps. 28:7-9—“The LORD is my strength & my shield; My heart trusted in Him, & I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him. The LORD is their strength, And He is the saving refuge of His anointed. Save Your people, And bless Your inheritance; Shepherd them also, And bear them up forever.”

**Ps. 46:1-3—<> “God is our refuge & strength, A very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, Even though the earth be removed, And though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though its waters roar & be troubled, Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah.”

Isa. 12:2-5—“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust & not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength & song; He also has become my salvation.’” Therefore with joy you will draw water From the wells of salvation. And in that day you will say: “Praise the LORD, call upon His name; Declare His deeds among the peoples, Make mention that His name is exalted. Sing to the LORD, For He has done excellent things; This is known in all the earth.”

**Ezek. 34:17-24—‘And as for you, O My flock, thus says the Lord GOD: “Behold, I shall judge between sheep & sheep, between rams & goats. Is it too little for you to have eaten up the good pasture, that you must tread down with your feet the residue of your pasture--& to have drunk of the clear waters, that you must foul the residue with your feet? And as for My flock, they eat what you have trampled with your feet, & they drink what you have fouled with your feet.” ‘Therefore thus says the Lord GOD to them: “Behold, I Myself will judge between the fat & the lean sheep. Because you have pushed with side & shoulder, butted all the weak ones with your horns, & scattered them abroad, therefore I will save My flock, & they shall no longer be a prey; & I will judge between sheep & sheep. I will establish one shepherd over them, & he shall feed them--My servant David. He shall feed them & be their shepherd. And I, the LORD, will be their God, & My servant David a prince among them; I, the LORD, have spoken.”

Ezekiel was written long after the death of David!

**Ezek. 37:24, 25—“David My servant[Jesus] shall be king over them, & they shall all have one shepherd; they shall also walk in My judgments & observe My statutes, & do them. Then they shall dwell in the land that I have given to Jacob My servant, where your fathers dwelt; & they shall dwell there, they, their children, & their children’s children, forever; & My servant David shall be their prince forever.”

Mat. 1:1—“The book of the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Son of Abraham:”

**2Sam. 22:33—“God is my strength & power, And He makes my way perfect.”

Rom. 1:1-6—Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God which He promised before through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures, concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, & declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead. Through Him we have received grace & apostleship for obedience to the faith among all nations for His name, among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;”

Rom. 5:18-21—“Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made righteous. Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, so that as sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

**2Cor. 12:2-10—“I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago--whether in the body I do not know, or whether out of the body I do not know, God knows--such a one was caught up to the third heaven. And I know such a man--whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows-- how he was caught up into Paradise & heard inexpressible words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. Of such a one I will boast; yet of myself I will not boast, except in my infirmities. For though I might desire to boast, I will not be a fool; for I will speak the truth. But I refrain, lest anyone should think of me above what he sees me to be or hears from me. And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me. And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
