Hebrews 2:10-18 "He Brews"

We need to know as we go into the New Year He Brews.
1. He Brewed a Plan for Humanity. It is the purpose of our being. 10 It was fitting that God,* for whom and through whom all things exist
• We need to remember that we exist for God, not God for us. Our lives were intended for spiritual acts of worship Romans 2Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is pleasing and perfect will.
• Everything we do is supposed to be for God’s glory (1 Corinthians 10:31). Even nonhuman creation — stars, seas, mountains, trees, animals — all praise God by their very existence (Psalm 148).
2. He Brewed a plan for my life, even though pain. [God]“should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through sufferings” (v. 10).
• Jesus Christ is the pioneer of our salvation The captain. The author. He took the lead, forged out into new spiritual territory and wrote the example we are to follow.
• Jesus was made perfect through suffering. When (not “if”) we suffer, we need to remember it has a transformative end. Romans says, “28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him”,
3. He brewed a way for us to be a member of God’s family. “Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters” (v. 11).
• Jesus looks at us — with all our imperfections, insecurities and ignorance of him — and cries, “They’re with me. I love my family. They make me proud.”
• Human families have black sheep: the druggie nephew, the abusive grandfather, the disowned sister. But Jesus feels no shame about anyone in his family. He claims us. He wants us.
• I am a member of his Family, this idea doesn’t depend on us, whether we deserve it, believe it or feel it. It depends only on Christ and his choice of love.
4. He brewed a way for us that we need not fear death. “[T]through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by the fear of death” (vv. 14-15).
• We must grasp this that Christ stripped Satan of any power over God’s followers. Do we have any fear of death? If so, why? What stands in the way of us viewing our own death as pure glory?
5. He brewed a way to face temptation. “Because he himself was tested by what he suffered, he is able to help those who are being tested” (v. 18). • Jesus is relatable, as someone else who battled the same desires we face. We aren’t alone and should feel comfort.
• Jesus made it through so can we.
• Jesus provides ways out of temptation (1 Corinthians 10:13) 13No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.
• Jesus continues to battle Satan on our behalf (Revelation 12). 7And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon,. 8But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. 9The great dragon was hurled down--that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.
