Attention:

Green Side Up

A woman hired a contractor to repaint the interior of her house. The woman walked the man through the second floor of her home & told him what colors she wanted for each room.

As they walked through the first room, the woman said, “I think I would like this room in a cream color."

The contractor wrote on his clipboard, walked to the window, opened it & yelled out, "Green side up!" He then closed the window & continued following the woman to the next room.

The woman looked confused, but proceeded with her tour. “In this room”, she says, “I was thinking of an off blue.”

Again, the contractor wrote this down, went to the window, opened it & yelled out, “Green side up!”

This baffled the woman, but she was hesitant to say anything.

In the next room, the woman said she would like it painted in a light rose color.

And once more, the contractor opened the window & yelled, “Green side up!”

Struck with curiosity, the woman mustered up the nerve to ask, “Why do you keep yelling ‘Green side up’ out my window every time I tell you the color I would like the room?”

The contractor replied, “Because I have a crew of teenagers laying sod across the street.”

As Christians, we regularly work with people who don’t know up from down & These need your witness to Christ!

CHRISTIAN GOVERNANCE is expected to rule/control your WORK Obligations. The way in which you handle your Work Obligations, speaks, either positively or negatively, to others about the power of God in Christ Jesus.

Peter confirmed the role of Christian submission in relation to the obligations of servants.

Christian submission is crucial in or pertinent to our work obligations.

‘Pertinent’—“Having a clear decisive relevance to the matter at hand.”

How is Christian governance addressed thru our work obligations?

4 aspects of Christian governance that are addressed thru our Work obligations. (or at work or in the workplace)

We have previously found that Christian governance is at WORK thru submission to...

EXAMPLE(:21-24)

Explanation:(:21-24)

:21—“For to this you were called, because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that you should follow His steps:”

The calling of Christians is to patient suffering against wrongful abuse on the job.

Christians must look to & follow the “example” of Christ in regard to righteous sufferance. He suffered for the sake of others—you & me— & any other of any generation, which witnessed or followed Him.

He “left us” a powerful “example” of wrongful “suffering for us.” Jesus’ “example” is to guide us in our endeavors in this life. We are exhorted to make the effort of “following in His steps.” It is imperative for the individual Christian to answer & fulfill that “calling” to “follow His steps” even though it may bring “suffering” to the one doing the “following.”

To “follow His steps” is something we “should” do, but not necessarily what we ‘will’ do!

Anything less is NOT graciousness lived-out(commendable) before God(:20).

:22—“Who committed no sin, Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;”

This is a quote from the obviously Messianic chapter of Isaiah 53. It is specifically from Isa. 53:9, which describes the sacrificial death of the Christ over 700+ yrs. before His coming to earth.

Isa. 53:9—“And they made His grave with the wicked-- But with the rich at His death, Because He had done no violence[sin], Nor was any deceit in His mouth.”

“Who committed no sin,

For followers of Jesus, we recognize & accept that Jesus is the One “who committed no sin”—He was sinless...Something which no one other than Jesus, the Son of God, can claim.

Heb. 4:14-15—“Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.”

Heb. 7:24-28—“But He, because He continues forever, has an unchangeable priesthood. Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, & has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins & then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself. For the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.”

1Jn. 2:1-2—“My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, & not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

1Jn. 3:5—“And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, & in Him there is no sin.”

“Committed/Did”—poiew—Verb—1) To make—1a) with the names of things made--To produce, construct, form, fashion, etc., 1b) To be the authors of, the cause, 1c) To make ready, to prepare, 1d) To produce, bear, shoot forth, 1e) To acquire, to provide a thing for one's self, 1f) To make a thing out of something, 1g) To (make i.e.) render one anything—1g1) To (make i.e.) constitute or appoint one anything, to appoint or ordain one that, 1g2) To (make i.e.) declare one anything, 1h) To put one forth, to lead him out, 1i) To make one do something—1i1) cause one to, 1j) To be the authors of a thing (to cause, bring about); 2) To do—2a) To act rightly, do well—2a1) To carry out, to execute, 2b) To do a thing unto one—2b1) To do to one, 2c) with designation of time--To pass, spend, 2d) To celebrate, keep—2d1) To make ready, & so at the same time to institute, the celebration of the passover, 2e) To perform: to a promise. Poiew denotes "to do", prassw - "to practise"; poiew to designate performance, prassw intended, earnest, habitual, performance; poiew to denote merely productive action, prassw definitely directed action; poiew to point to the action result, prassw to the scope & character of the result. These words are often used interchangeably. Strong—apparently a prolonged form of an obsolete primary; To make or do(in a very wide application, more or less direct).

“Sin”[See :24; :20—“Faults”[verb],]—amartia—Noun Fem.—1) equivalent to amartanw[verb]—1a) To be without a share in, 1b) To miss the mark, 1c) To err, be mistaken, 1d) To miss or wander from the path of uprightness & honor, to do or go wrong, 1e) To wander from the law of God, violate God's law, sin; 2) That which is done wrong, sin, an offense, a violation of the divine law in thought or in act; 3) collectively,--The complex or aggregate of sins committed either by a single person or by many. Amartia meant originally the missing of a mark. When applied to moral things the idea is similar, it is missing the true end of life, & so it is used as a general term for sin. It means both the act of sinning & the result, the sin itself. Strong—A sin(properly abstract).

“Nor was deceit found in His mouth”;”

Followers of Jesus, also recognize & accept that Jesus is the One in whom there was “no deceit found in His mouth.”

Jn. 1:14-18—And the Word became flesh & dwelt among us, & we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace & truth. John bore witness of Him & cried out, saying, “This was He of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.’” And of His fullness we have all received, & grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace & truth came through Jesus Christ. No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.”

Heb. 1:1-4—“God, who at various times & in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; who being the brightness of His glory & the express image of His person, & upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”

Jn. 8:41-47—-to those Jews who had believed Him(8:31)-—“You do the deeds of your father.” Then they said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father--God.” Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth & came from God; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. You are of your father the devil, & the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, & does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar & the father of it. But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. Which of you convicts Me of sin? And if I tell the truth, why do you not believe Me? He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.”

Jn. 14:5, 6—“Thomas said to Him[Jesus], “Lord, we do not know where You are going, & how can we know the way?” Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, & the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

Jn. 14:12-21—“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; & greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it. If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, & He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever--the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you & will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. A little while longer & the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. At that day you will know that I am in My Father, & you in Me, & I in you. He who has My commandments & keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, & I will love him & manifest Myself to him.”

Jn. 15:26-27—“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning.”

Jn. 18:33-38—“Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, & said to Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” Jesus answered him, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?” Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation & the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.” Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, & for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, & said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.”

Jer. 17:9-10—“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it? I, the LORD, search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give every man according to his ways, According to the fruit of his doings.”

“Deceit”—dolov—Noun Masc.—1)Craft, deceit, guile. Strong—from an obsolete primary verb, dellw(probably meant to decoy; compare deleazw[To entrap/delude]); A trick(bait), i.e. figuratively--Wile. Used 12X.

“Mouth”—stoma—Noun Neuter—1) The mouth, as part of the body: of man, of animals, of fish, etc.—1a) since thoughts of a man's soul find verbal utterance by his mouth, the "heart" or "soul" & the mouth are distinguished; 2) The edge of a sword. Strong—the mouth(as if a gash in the face); by implication, language(& its relations); figuratively-An opening(in the earth); specifically--The front or edge(of a weapon). EXAMPLE(:21-24)

:23—“who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return; when He suffered, He did not threaten, but committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;”

Christ’s example for our particular application here is that even though He “was reviled,” He refused to give back the same abuse.

Rom. 12:17-21—“Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.”[Prov. 25:21-22] Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

In fact, He didn’t even “threaten” those who opposed Him.

What He did was connect & commit Himself to the Father’s direction, even though the Father’s plan was to allow Jesus to be abused by others! Jesus was willing to commit to this sacrifice because He knew that His heavenly Father “judges rightly” even as He allows others to murder Christians.

“who, when He was reviled, did not revile in return;...”

Peter is ‘probably’ recalling Isa. 53:7—

Isa. 53:7—“He was oppressed & He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.”

A sheep trusts it’s shearers for its part is only to provide wool. It will not suffer death. Jesus though He knew He would die also knew that He would be raised to live eternally...thereby, He had peace in dying for you & me!

Mk. 14:60-65—“And the high priest stood up in the midst & asked Jesus, saying, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” But He kept silent & answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?” Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, & coming with the clouds of heaven.” Then the high priest tore his clothes & said, “What further need do we have of witnesses? “You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death. Then some began to spit on Him, & to blindfold Him, & to beat Him, & to say to Him, “Prophesy!” And the officers struck Him with the palms of their hands.”

Mk. 15:1-5—“Immediately, in the morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders & scribes & the whole council; & they bound Jesus, led Him away, & delivered Him to Pilate. Then Pilate asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?” He answered & said to him, “It is as you say.” And the chief priests accused Him of many things, but He answered nothing. Then Pilate asked Him again, saying, “Do You answer nothing? See how many things they testify against You!” But Jesus still answered nothing, so that Pilate marveled.”

“Reviled”—loidorew—Verb—1)To reproach, rail at, revile, heap abuse upon. Strong—To reproach, i.e. Vilify. Used 4X.

“Revile in return/Reviled not again”—antiloidorew—Verb—1)To revile in turn, to retort railing. Strong—To rail in reply. Used 1X.

From—anti—a primary particle; Opposite, i.e. Instead or because of(rarely--In addition to)—&—loidorew—1)To reproach, rail at, revile, heap abuse upon.

“...When He suffered, He did not threaten,...”

If anyone could truly threaten, Jesus could, because He is God in flesh! He could have called down multitudes of angels!

Mat. 26:47-56—“And while He was still speaking, behold, Judas, one of the twelve, with a great multitude with swords & clubs, came from the chief priests & elders of the people. Now His betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the One; seize Him.” Immediately he went up to Jesus & said, “Greetings, Rabbi!” & kissed Him. But Jesus said to him, “Friend, why have you come?” Then they came & laid hands on Jesus & took Him. And suddenly, one of those who were with Jesus stretched out his hand & drew his sword, struck the servant of the high priest, & cut off his ear. But Jesus said to him, “Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword. Or do you think that I cannot now pray to My Father, & He will provide Me with more than twelve legions of angels? How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, that it must happen thus?” In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, “Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords & clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, & you did not seize Me. But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.” “Then all the disciples forsook Him & fled.”

Lk. 23:33-34—“And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, & the criminals, one on the right hand & the other on the left. Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments & cast lots.”

“Suffered”—pascw/payw/penyw—Verb—1) To be affected or have been affected, to feel, have a sensible experience, to undergo—1a) in a good sense--To be well off, in good case, 1b) in a bad sense--To suffer sadly, be in a bad plight—1b1) Of a sick person. Strong—used only in certain tenses for it; apparently a primary verb; To experience a sensation or impression(usually painful).

“Threaten”—apeilew—Verb—)To threaten, menace. Strong—of uncertain derivation; To menace; by implication--To forbid. Used 2X.

“...But committed Himself to Him who judges righteously;”

Mat. 27:45-46—“Now from the sixth hour until the ninth hour there was darkness over all the land. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?””

Jesus’ trust in God was absolute! He gathered that strength on His knees in the Garden of Gethsemane on the Mount of Olives(Mat. 26:36-44; Lk. 22:41-44).

Mat. 26:36-44—“Then Jesus came with them to a place called Gethsemane, & said to the disciples, “Sit here while I go & pray over there.” And He took with Him Peter & the two sons of Zebedee, & He began to be sorrowful & deeply distressed. Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here & watch with Me.” He went a little farther & fell on His face, & prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.” Then He came to the disciples & found them asleep, & said to Peter, “What? Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch & pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, a second time, He went away & prayed, saying, “O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done.” And He came & found them asleep again, for their eyes were heavy. So He left them, went away again, & prayed the third time, saying the same words.”

2Thess. 1:3-10—“We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, & the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God for your patience & faith in all your persecutions & tribulations that you endure, which is manifest evidence of the righteous judgment of God, that you may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you also suffer; since it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you, & to give you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, & on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord & from the glory of His power, when He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints & to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed.”

“Rather than take up one’s own cause, the believer commits his or her cause to” God as their righteous judge.—NICNT

“Committed/Entrusting”—paradidwmi—Verb—1) To give into the hands(of another); 2) To give over into(one's) power or use; 3) To commit, to commend; 4) To deliver verbally; 5) To permit allow. Strong—To surrender, i.e. Yield up, intrust, transmit.

From—para—1) From, of at, by, besides, near. Strong—properly--Near, From beside, At(or in) the vicinity of, To the proximity with, Beyond or opposed to, or On account of.—&—didwmi—1) To give; 2) To give something to someone; 4) To grant or permit one. Strong—To give(used in a very wide application, properly, or by implication, literally or figuratively; greatly modified by the connection).

“Judges”—krinw—Verb—1) To separate, put asunder, to pick out, select, choose; 2) To approve, esteem, to prefer; 3) To be of opinion, deem, think, to be of opinion; 4) To determine, resolve, decree; 5) To judge; 6) To rule, govern; 7) To contend together, of warriors & combatants. Strong—properly--To distinguish, i.e. Decide(mentally or judicially); by implication--To try, condemn, punish.

“Righteously”—dikaiwv—Adverb—1) Just, agreeably to right;l 2) Properly, as is right; 3) Uprightly, agreeable to the law of rectitude. Strong—Equitably. Used 5X.

:24—“who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness--by whose stripes you were healed.”

Peter draws from Deut. 21:22-23—“If a man has committed a sin deserving of death, & he is put to death, & you hang him on a tree, his body shall not remain overnight on the tree, but you shall surely bury him that day, so that you do not defile the land which the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance; for he who is hanged is accursed of God.”

That is the application—that Jesus on the Cross is accursed of God. He has taken all of the sins of all humanity for all time upon Himself & is thus judged of God as accursed! Thereby our sin is paid for in full!

Peter then ties Jesus’ sacrifice of Himself back to Isa. 53:5—“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree,...”

Jesus’ example is seen ultimately in His taking it upon Himself to bear “our sins” “on the tree”(cross).

Why “on the tree” versus on the Cross? Because the Cross is God’s answer to the "tree" pre-figured & promised in the prophecy of the Deut. 21 passage.

He bore each of our sins “in His own body.” He Himself is the very payment for our sins. In this there is no example(:21) so that someone else could do the same! He & only He, “bore our sins in His own body on the tree”!

He bore the sins of each individual of all mankind, of all time, for all that would receive His forgiveness by faith.

*In doing so He thus exemplified/modeled endurance in the face of wrongful abuse.

From—ana—a primary preposition & adverb; properly--Up; but by extension, used distributively--Severally, or locally--At(etc.)—&—ferw—To "bear" or carry(in a very wide application, literally & figuratively).

“...That we, having died to sins,...”

He carried our personal “sins” into judgment forever thru the Cross. As a result, anyone & all those who trust(have faith in) Jesus’(Messiah’s) once-for-all payment for sin(Heb. 7:27), have thus themselves died to sins. They are no longer condemned because Jesus took their condemnation upon Himself.

Heb. 7:25-27—“Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them. For such a High Priest was fitting for us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, & has become higher than the heavens; who does not need daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifices, first for His own sins & then for the people’s, for this He did once for all when He offered up Himself.”

Rom. 8:1-2—“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

“We”—Added for clarity; stated in zaw(zhswmen).

*“Died”—apogenomenov—2Aorist Middle Deponent Participle Nominative Plural Masc.—1) To be removed from, depart; 2) To die, to die to anything. Strong—past participle; Absent, i.e. Deceased(figuratively--Renounced). Used 1X.

From—apo—1) Of separation; 2) Of origin. Strong—a primary particle; “Off,” i.e. Away(from something near), in various senses(of place, time, or relation; literal or figurative).—&—ginomai—1)To become, i.e. To come into existence, begin to be, receive being; 2) To become, i.e. To come to pass, happen; 3) To arise, appear in history, come upon the stage; 4) To be made, finished; 5) To become, be made. Strong—To cause to be(“gen”-erate), i.e. reflexively--To become(come into being), used with great latitude(literal, figurative, intensive, etc.).

“To”-(See “For” below)-—o, h, to—Article—1) This, that, these, etc. Strong—The definite article; The(sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom).

“Sins”2X-(See :20, 22)-—amartia—Noun Accusative Plural Fem.—1) equivalent to amartanw—1a) To be without a share in, 1b) To miss the mark, 1c) To err, be mistaken, 1d) To miss or wander from the path of uprightness & honor, to do or go wrong, 1e) To wander from the law of God, violate God's law, sin; 2) That which is done wrong, sin, an offense, a violation of the divine law in thought or in act; 3) collectively,--The complex or aggregate of sins committed either by a single person or by many. Amartia meant originally the missing of a mark. When applied to moral things the idea is similar, it is missing the true end of life, & so it is used as a general term for sin. It means both the act of sinning & the result, the sin itself. Strong—A sin(properly abstract).

“...That we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness...”

He died for sin for our sakes that we “might” do something in particular. He died for the strict purpose that we would “live for righteousness.” God’s people are to choose to die to self daily.

Obviously prior to His bearing our sin, we were not fully able to “live” for God’s righteousness...Prior to His dying we were unable to live for righteousness.

Rom. 10:1-4—“Brethren, my heart’s desire & prayer to God for Israel is that they may be saved. For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, & seeking to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted to the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes.”

“Live”—zaw—1Aorist Active Subjunctive 1st Plural—1) To live, breathe, be among the living(not lifeless, not dead); 2) To enjoy real life—2a) To have true life & worthy of the name, 2b) Active, blessed, endless in the kingdom of God; 3) To live i.e. Pass life, in the manner of the living & acting—3a) Of mortals or character; 4) Living water, having vital power in itself & exerting the same upon the soul; 5) metaph.--To be in full vigor—5a) To be fresh, strong, efficient, 5b) as adj.--Active, powerful, efficacious. Strong—Equity(of character or act); specially(Christian)--Justification.

From—dikaiov—Equitable(in character or act); by implication--Innocent, holy(absolutely or relatively). “...--by whose stripes you were healed.”

Thus because of the “stripes” He received, “we” received “healing” rather than condemnation(Isa. 53:5; Rom. 8:1).

Isa. 53:5—“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.”

Rom. 8:1—“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”

“Stripes/Wounds/Bruise”—mwlwq—Noun Masc.—1) A bruise, wale, wound that trickles with blood. Strong—A mole("black eye") or blow-mark. Used 1X.

Argumentation:

Mat. 10:32-40—“Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. For I have come to ‘set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, & a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law’; “& ‘a man’s enemies will be those of his own household.’ “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross & follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who finds his life will lose it, & he who loses his life for My sake will find it. He who receives you receives Me, & he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”

Mat. 16:24—“Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, & take up his cross, & follow Me.”

Jn. 16:33—“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”

1Thess. 3:6-8—“But now that Timothy has come to us from you, & brought us good news of your faith & love, & that you always have good remembrance of us, greatly desiring to see us, as we also to see you--therefore, brethren, in all our affliction & distress we were comforted concerning you by your faith. For now we live, if you stand fast in the Lord.”

1Thess. 4:1-8—“Finally then, brethren, we urge & exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more & more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk & to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification & honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of & defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you & testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.”

2Tim. 3:10-12—“But you have carefully followed my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, love, perseverance, persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra--what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, & all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.”

*1Pet. 4:1-11—“Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God. For we have spent enough of our past lifetime in doing the will of the Gentiles--when we walked in lewdness, lusts, drunkenness, revelries, drinking parties, & abominable idolatries. In regard to these, they think it strange that you do not run with them in the same flood of dissipation, speaking evil of you. They will give an account to Him who is ready to judge the living & the dead. For this reason the gospel was preached also to those who are dead, that they might be judged according to men in the flesh, but live according to God in the spirit. But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious & watchful in your prayers. And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” Be hospitable to one another without grumbling. As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory & the dominion forever & ever. Amen.”

Ps. 85:9-13—“Surely His salvation is near to those who fear Him, That glory may dwell in our land. Mercy & truth have met together; Righteousness & peace have kissed. Truth shall spring out of the earth, And righteousness shall look down from heaven. Yes, the LORD will give what is good; And our land will yield its increase. Righteousness will go before Him, And shall make His footsteps our pathway.”

*Jn. 13:3-17—“Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, & that He had come from God & was going to God, rose from supper & laid aside His garments, took a towel & girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin & began to wash the disciples’ feet, & to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded. Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?” Jesus answered & said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.” Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!” Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.” Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands & my head!” Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; & you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.” So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, & sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? “You call me Teacher & Lord, & you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord & Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”

Rom. 8:29—“For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.”

*1Cor. 10:32-11:2—“Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ. Now I praise you, brethren, that you remember me in all things & keep the traditions[paradosiv--giving over] just as I delivered them to you.”

Eph. 5:1, 2—“Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us & given Himself for us, an offering & a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.”

1Jn. 2:6—“He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.”

1Jn. 3:16-18—“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world’s goods, & sees his brother in need, & shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed & in truth.”

Jn. 14:25-27—“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, & bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”

Heb. 12:1-3—“Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, & the sin which so easily ensnares us, & let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author & finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, & has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary & discouraged in your souls.”
