Summary: This message was inspired by recent events that have occurred. It provides insights on how to cope and realize the assurance and hope that as believer in Jesus Christ, we have a place of safety.

Safety in the Secret Place

Psalm 91:1 (KJV) 1He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

All of us have moments in our lives that we have felt exposed to experiences that we did not want to be in and have longed for it to just be over. I have days when I just felt overwhelmed by my circumstances and just wanted to give up. I had to learn how to find a safety zone and get myself together. Sometimes we forget who we are and what we have on the inside of us. I want to remind you that we have the presence of God in us and in Him we find safety.

Observation 1: “You Will Find God’s Presence”

His presence bring you closer to Him where your trust in Him develops. God’s presence allows you to worship Him in a deeper way that allows your faith and confidence to develop. His presence will fortify your faith. To be fortified is similar to taking your vitamins or medication. You will be rendered ineffective without it and you will not be able to function at your optimum ability.

His presence will help you overcome a sense of isolation. The enemy wants us to be isolated from each other to weaken our testimony and unity. The plot of the enemy is to keep you isolated and cause you to believe that no one cares for you. We need each other and we must learn how to be longsuffering. To be longsuffering means that we are more patient and less likely to give a heated or emotional response, also more forgiving and understanding. We should seek to be more longsuffering in our relationships because we never know when we will need the same response from someone else. You will reap what you sow!

His presence will teach you how to pray and communicate with Him and know how to navigate your reality.

His presence causes you to abide and learn the rules of engagement so you can survive what you are going through.

Observation 2: “You Will Be Safe From Hidden Traps”

The MSG Bible translates vs. 2 as “He rescues you from hidden traps and shields you from deadly hazards.”

There will be things that we don’t see coming and will cause us to be taken aback. The older saints used to pray and thank God for dangers seen and unseen. But when we remain in His presence, we will be less likely to trip out. I have literally seen people check out on God. I believe this happens when we lose our focus and stop relying on God as our safety zone.

God will also protect you from plagues of mischief. What is this? Verse 3 says “the fowlers snare and from the deadly pestilence.” This is best characterized as one who catches birds in a trap and is usually dressed as one thing but is meant to destroy you. The flip side of the plaque of mischief is keeping you on stable ground and one allowing God to be the stronghold, not depending on your own resources and not being a source of manipulation.

I have had feelings of hopelessness but had to realize that what I was went through was for my making. I also learned that God will create situations to allow us to know that He can and will deliver us!

I have even questioned God, “Why did that have to happen?” His reply to me on many occasions was “I am going cause it to work out for your good!” you may not understand it at the time but you have remind and encourage yourself that you can make it.

God will give you a Word for your situation. The Lord will cause you to remember Rom. 8:28 (KJV) says “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” God wants to bring us into a season of new vision! A season where we will be able to discern the plot of the enemy and come out victorious. God wants us to develop a lifestyle of faith that will allow us to speak things into existence while allowing our words can change our reality.

Observation 3: “You Will Find a New Perspective”

A new perspective allows you to see things differently and will cause you to notice something that you may not have noticed before. I like many have gone through some hard things. Some things I did to myself and somethings God ordained to happen. But I learned how to trust Him through everything.

A new perspective will help you remember the promises of God that are over your life. A new perspective will remind you when you experience illness in your body, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

A new perspective will cause you to be more aware of your emotions and how to respond when storms come. You have the same power just as Jesus spoke to the storm and say peace be still!

A new perspective will allow you to go through the situation with the mindset that God can deliver you from the chains of the enemy. A new perspective will cause you to know where your help comes from. A new perspective will allow you to embrace God’s truth and overcome fear.

A new perspective will make you stronger so you will not quit until you gain the victory. A new perspective will make you stand your ground when others will give up when facing the same or similar situations.

A new perspective will cause you to think differently and bring you out of a rut. A new perspective will help you overcome past failures. A new perspective will elevate your faith because He is your refuge.

A new perspective will allow you to not dwell on the past but press forward into the future. A new perspective will allow you to make your walk with Jesus a priority. A new perspective will keep you in all of your ways and make your path way straight.

A new perspective will cause you to give glory to God and will bring you into another dimension of his deliverance.

A new perspective will allow you to embrace new provision for your life. A new perspective will give you renewed energy and renewed passion. A new perspective will allow you to call on the name of the Lord and He will answer you.

A new perspective push you beyond what you see and allow you to see yourself past tomorrow.

A new perspective will help you get you defeat the enemy of success. A new perspective will motivate you to go higher in God. A new perspective will push you to tell somebody else about Jesus.
