Northern California wildfires—From Sept. 21, 2017 thru Oct 20, 2017 There have been over 300,000 acres burned, with 42 known dead & 60 missing, & more than 6000 homes destroyed—100, 000+ people evacuated/

*A couple in Santa Rosa, CA—the Weavers—awoke in the middle of the night(Mon. Oct. 9, 2017) to discover their house was on fire. They were forced to evacuate immediately. Unfortunately their family pet dog Izzy(115lbs.) ran away in confusion before they could take the him with them! Once the fire danger was over, two brother’s-in-law walked miles back to the house, past police barricades, in order to take videos of the damage for the Weavers. They especially wanted to look for Izzy’s body so the mother-in-law would not have to recover it. The fire totally destroyed their home but as they came up one of the walkways, Izzy came bounding out to greet them, unscathed by the fire!

Likewise, God’s people can experience victory in the midst of destruction!

All on the ark escaped the destruction of the Flood.

All on the ark escaped God’s removal strategy(designed destruction).

Divinely designed destruction can be escaped/avoided.

How can we escape such an ordained destruction/removal?

4 keys to escape/victory in the midst of destruction.

4 keys to escape God’s designed destruction.

Appropriate MOTION(:1a, 5)

Explanation: (:1a) Move--When God Says Move

:1—“Then the LORD said to Noah, “Come into the ark, you & all your household, because I have seen that you are righteous before Me in this generation.”

:5—“And Noah did according to all that the LORD commanded him.”[cf.--6:22]

Previously, YaHWeH—Noah’s God—had spoken to Noah regarding his involvement in the plan to rid the earth of man’s legacy of wickedness(6:13-21).

Noah had been faithful to do all that YaHWeH had commanded him to do.

Thus Noah had built the ark to God’s specifications.

He had collected the food(no meat per 1:29-30 & 9:3) necessary to sustain all the animals, as well as his family(6:19, 21).

Now YaHWeH again speaks to Noah but His words are directed to the imminent fulfillment of His design. The time has come for implementation/application of Noah’s preparations.

YaHWeH now tells Noah to enter the ark that he has built(6:18).

Noah’s call to enter the ark came at YaHWeH’s discretion.

If 6:3 pertains directly to the coming flood, then YaHWeH had previously granted mankind(including Noah) 120 yrs. for spiritual(preaching) & physical(building & loading) preparation. Then 120 yrs. had also been allotted for Noah to declare God’s righteousness in the world—verbally & thru his work of preparing the ark.

Because of Noah’s faithfulness to YaHWeH, his entire household was included in those who were invited to be saved from the coming destruction.

It is one thing to know the right thing to do...

But it is another thing entirely to enter into it!

It is an act of godliness to determine the right thing to do...to determine God’s will in a matter...

And it is an act of godliness to enter into the right thing!

“Come into”(See :7, 9)—awb bow’—Qal Imperative—1) To go in, enter, come, go, come in. 1a) (Qal)—1a1) To enter, come in, 1a2) To come—1a2a) To come with, 1a2b) To come upon, fall or light upon, attack(enemy), 1a2c) To come to pass, 1a3) To attain to, 1a4) To be enumerated, 1a5) To go. Strong—To go or come(in a wide variety of applications).

“Household”—tyb bah'-yith—1) House—1a) House, dwelling habitation, 1b) Shelter or abode of animals, 1c) Human bodies(figuratively), 1d) Of Sheol, 1e) Of abode of light & darkness, 1f) Of land of Ephraim; 2) Place; 3) Receptacle; 4) Home, house as containing a family; 5) Household, family—5a) Those belonging to the same household, 5b) Family of descendants, descendants as organized body; 6) Household affairs; 7) Inwards(metaph.); 8) (TWOT) Temple. Strong—A house (in the greatest variation of applications, especially family, etc.).

Argumentation:

Lk. 17:27-33—““They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, & the flood came & destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire & brimstone from heaven & destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. In that day, he who is on the housetop, & his goods are in the house, let him not come down to take them away. And likewise the one who is in the field, let him not turn back. Remember Lot’s wife. “Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, & whoever loses his life will preserve it.”

Mat. 4:18-19—“And Jesus, walking by the Sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon called Peter, & Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. Then He said to them, “Follow Me, & I will make you fishers of men.””

Mk. 8:34-38—“When He had called the people to Himself, with His disciples also, He said to them, “Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, & take up his cross, & follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake & the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, & loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me & My words in this adulterous & sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.””

Num. 20:7-12—“Then the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Take the rod; you & your brother Aaron gather the congregation together. Speak to the rock before their eyes, & it will yield its water; thus you shall bring water for them out of the rock, & give drink to the congregation & their animals. So Moses took the rod from before the LORD as He commanded him. And Moses & Aaron gathered the assembly together before the rock; & he said to them, “Hear now, you rebels! Must we bring water for you out of this rock?” Then Moses lifted his hand & struck the rock twice with his rod; & water came out abundantly, & the congregation & their animals drank. Then the LORD spoke to Moses & Aaron, “Because you did not believe Me, to hallow Me in the eyes of the children of Israel, therefore you shall not bring this assembly into the land which I have given them.””

Jn. 6:26-51—“Jesus answered them & said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves & were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered & said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it & believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’” Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven & gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, & he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me & yet do not believe. All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, & the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son & believes in Him may have everlasting life; & I will raise him up at the last day.” The Jews then complained about Him, because He said, “I am the bread which came down from heaven.” And they said, “Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father & mother we know? How is it then that He says, ‘I have come down from heaven’?” Jesus therefore answered & said to them, “Do not murmur among yourselves. No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; & I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, ‘And they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard & learned from the Father comes to Me. Not that anyone has seen the Father, except He who is from God; He has seen the Father. “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. “I am the bread of life. Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, & are dead. This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it & not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; & the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.””

Where You stay, I'll stay,

When You move, I'll move

My experience immediately following my resignation of a church some years back/The chairman of a pastor search committee, out of the blue, with an old resume of mine, calls me stating that they want me for their pastor/The ten committee members were each given a complete copy of each of the very many resumes available to them. Each committee member examined every resume separately without talking to the other members/All 10 of the committee members chose me!—quite an honor & quite obvious that God was up to something for me/They were certain that I was sent of God to be their pastor/However when this happened, I was at the lowest point that I had ever been in my ministry!/I ‘could not” take that church!/Totally internal...I had not prepared myself to MOVE in God’s direction!/Having missed that opportunity, there is no way that I will ever recover that loss...Nor can that church ever recover that loss...I cannot know the people who were adversely effected by my selfishness...I cannot know the Christians who would have been encouraged & strengthened...I cannot know the people who will not be in heaven because of my fleshly indulgence...But I will have to answer to God for it & I will lose rewards due to my failure!/Appropriate MOTION

*—Soon we will be receiving money for the ‘Lottie Moon Christmas Offering’—International Missions Money—It does not stay in the church or in the coffers of the SBC...That money goes to the field!/Will you give as God compels you to give?/Appropriate MOTION
