Summary: In this sermon, we see how satan fabricated a statement and turned it into a lie, mocking God. In life, things aren’t always what that seem to be when handed to us. A real curse may be disguised as a blessing.

Today we want to talk about "Fabricated Blessings" (SPELL IT). In teaching this subject, I want us to answer three quick questions. Number one, "What does it mean to Fabricate something?" Number two, "What does a Fabricated Blessing look like?" And number three, "How do you avoid the Eve syndrome?" Are you ready for this?

In today's scripture, we see how satan fabricated a statement and turned it into a lie, mocking God. Before we go any further, let us first define the word, "fabricate". To fabricate means to create or make up (something, such as a story) in order to trick people. It means to invent, create...to make up something for the purpose of deception.

We all know what deception is. At one time or another, we've all run into a little deception...either on your part or someone else's part! Tell the truth and shame the devil!

Well deception is the act of taking that fabricated thing that has been created, and then making someone believe something that is not true: it's the act of deceiving someone with that fabricated something such as a story...a lie. It is the act of taking the fabrication and making people believe something that is not true. Most times, when there is a fabrication, that deception leads right from one thing to another and someone ultimately ends up getting hurt by the lies you tell. One lie will always lead you right straight into another.

So satan fabricated a statement and made it look like a blessing in Eves already lusting eyes, making in look like an awesome blessing. It was a fabricated blessing. In verse 4 and 5, after God said to Adam, you shall not eat of the tree...you shall not even touch it or you shall surely die, satan fabricated a statement and made what was a curse look like a blessing when he said to the woman, "No! You will not die. In fact, God knows that when you eat it your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and evil."

Satan, in all his evilness took God's warning and deceived the woman who in turn, deceived the man Adam, who then blamed his wife, Eve. The Blame Game commenced to be played.

Have you heard the phrase "Everything that glitters is not gold"? Well let me explain it to you. That phrase simply means that not everything that looks precious or true, turns out to be so. It applies to people, places, or things that promise to be more than they really are. Eve was probably already standing there, most likely eyeing this forbidden fruit...lusting after it...wondering how it taste...wanting to try a little piece of it. There was probably a bit of curiosity on her part about this fruit tree and old satan seeing her lustfulness, tested and tried her, hanging temptation right there before her by fabricating an untrue statement. He took her mustard seed curiosity and turned it around to satisfy his craving to mock God. It was this temptation and Eves lusting flesh that made a terrible impact on all of humanity's future.

1 John 2:16 KJV

[16] For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Lust will get you killed. Lust will take you on a forbidden road. Lust will take you on the fast track to hell and block you from entering your heavenly home.

Now what does this fabricated blessing look like? It's anything that has strings attached to it. If it makes you question the authenticity of where it's coming from or how it's coming to you...or if it involves special demands...if it causes confusion of the mind and you have no real peace of mind, it's a fabricated. You'll know it, because you will feel it. You'll know it when you see it. BUT! If you let your flesh get in the way of articulating that it's not good for you, like Eve did, you'll fall deeper into satan's trap. Just like a mouse, walking into a gluetrap, trying to satisfy the flesh, you'll get caught by something you can't get free of. As I said, lust will kill you! It's the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes. It may look good, but it's not good for you! It's a trap! It's satan's gluetrap that he uses to get you out of line with the will of God. As he mocked God through Eve, he will do the same to you!

Galatians 6:7-8 admonishes us: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his FLESH shall of the FLESH reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit SHALL of the Spirit reap life everlasting."

That scripture speaks for itself. Adam and Eve sowed to their flesh...lost a life of peace...lost a life of joy and comfort for a life of death and destruction! Remember, Cain, their son, killed Abel, his brother! (PAUSE)

We've now answered two of our three questions. The last question is "How do you avoid the Eve syndrome?" How do you avoid receiving a fabricated blessing? How do you know it's a curse and not a blessing? Remember, everything that glitters is not gold...all that looks good may not be good for you. So again, How do you avoid the Eve syndrome? Eve lusted in her heart, listened to satan and got caught in his demonic trap. How do you avoid that. Well first, if you are walking in the way of the Lord, which involves righteousness, your eyes will be focused on that which is holy and pure. You won't be so easily distracted by things that you know will not have a positive impact on your walk with the Lord. Focus is key! Praying for discernment is vital! Stop looking at the tree...stop lusting after something you cannot have or touch! Stay focused on the things that God says you can and will have! Stay focused on the promises of God!

How do you stay focused? Everyday of your life, even if it's just 30 minutes, you pray...you read God's word...you listen to praise music...you get yourself ready to face the day. It's about putting on the full armor of God.... you stand tall with the belt of truth buckled around your waist...speaking truth...living truth...being the truth of God. In this way, as a child of God, you will not expose yourself to ridicule. Truth keeps your integrity in check. Your righteousness will be like a sheet of protection...it's your breastplate covering your pure heart. And your sanctified feet will be in a place of peace. Blessed is the one that walks not in the presence of the ungodly, nor acts in the same way as sinners. You watch what you say...you're not mean spirited or contentious. But you are happy to live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to God and God alone. It doesn't matter what others may say or think about you, you just love the ways of the Lord, meditating day and night!

In every situation you take up your shield of faith. You walk by faith and not by sight. You talk in faith...no matter what it looks like, you say it before you see it. As you do so, you are extinguishing all the flaming arrows of unbelief and deception that satan is throwing your way. Your helmet of salvation covers your mind because that is the battleground for satanic attacks. You need that helmet along with your sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Read and study God's word. When satan fights your mind by putting contentious things in your mind, you fight him back with the word of God..."Greater is He that is in me than he who is in the world!" "I am more than a conqueror through Him that loves me." "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." And pray...Praying always not just for yourself, but for your brothers and sisters in the faith...pray for those who do not know Christ pardoning of their sins...pray for the backsliding saints that they will return to the household of faith! And if given the opportunity, open your mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.

That's how you avoid the Eve syndrome! If you walk in Gods Spirit, you will live in the Spirit of God with Holy Ghost boldness! As you do so, true blessings will abound without fabrication! true blessings will abound without fabrication!Remember, "What God has for you, is for you"! There's no fabrication involved! He has blessings waiting for you! Blessings abound for His children who are living to please the Lord! Live in expectation! Live in expectation! Live in the expectation that God has blessings in store just for you!
