ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- A Florida man has survived a harrowing drive after a piece of scrap metal[actually a 5 foot section of a ~24" OD steel pipe no less than an inch thick!] fell from a tractor-trailer & crushed his van.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 36-year-old Jesus Armando Escobar suffered minor injuries when the metal fell from an interstate overpass & landed on top of his van, smashing the roof. [It crushed the driver's side of the van to steering wheel level]

The pipe became loose when a truck lost control & struck a guardrail. The truck flipped over, causing the metal object to fly off the overpass.

The truck was driven by 33-year-old Antonio Santiago Wharton of Kissimmee. He also had minor injuries & was ticketed for careless driving.

The exit ramp where the crash occurred was closed for several hours while debris was cleared.

Mr. Escobar’s mini-van was in dire need of restoration, & I think he was Set for that Restoration!

God’s people—You & me, we are urgent need of restoration!

God restored/renewed/rededicated Israel as His covenant people.

God’s people must be restored.

How can God’s people be restored?

What can bring restoration to God’s people?

4 settings for spiritual restoration.

Ps. 147:3— “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.”

We have found that a setting for spiritual restoration is...

1. A RENEWED FLESH(:2-8)

2. A RENEWED HEART(:8-9)

Today we will also discover that...

3—A Setting for spiritual restoration is...

A RENEWED WORSHIP(:10)

Explanation:(:10)Sealed

:10—“Now the children of Israel camped in Gilgal, & kept the Passover on the fourteenth day of the month at twilight on the plains of Jericho.”

While remaining encamped at Gilgal, the nation observed the Passover on the evening of the 14th of that month(Nisan—the first month(4:19) our March-April).

It is not clear here whether Israel celebrated the full seven days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread.—NAC

Unified public celebration of God’s ability, purpose, & meaning.

We can get so entrenched in how we PREFER to worship, so that we cannot worship any-where or any-way because something is always amiss!

“Camped”—hnx khaw-naw’—Qal Imperfect—1) To decline, incline, encamp, bend down, lay siege against—1a) (Qal)--1a1) To decline, 1a2) To encamp. Strong—a primitive root [compare Nnx khaw-nan’(to bend or stoop in kindness to an inferior; to favor, bestow; to implore)]; properly, to incline; by implication, to decline(of the slanting rays of evening); specifically, to pitch a tent; gen. to encamp(for abode or siege).

“Kept/Observed”—hse aw-saw’—Qal Imperfect—1) To do, fashion, accomplish, make—1a) (Qal)—1a1) To do, work, make, produce—1a1a) To do, 1a1b) To work, 1a1c) To deal(with), 1a1d) To act, act with effect, effect, 1a2) To make—1a2a) To make, 1a2b) To produce, 1a2c) To prepare, 1a2d) To make(an offering), 1a2e) To attend to, put in order, 1a2f) To observe, celebrate, 1a2g) To acquire(property), 1a2h) To appoint, ordain, institute, 1a2i) To bring about, 1a2j) To use, 1a2k) To spend, pass. Strong—a primitive root; To do or make, in the broadest sense & widest application.

“Passover”(See :11)—xop peh’-sakh—Noun Masc.—1) passover—1a) Sacrifice of passover, 1b) Animal victim of the passover, 1c) Festival of the passover. Strong—A pretermission, i.e. Exemption; used only technically of the Jewish Passover(the festival or the victim).

From—xop—a primitive root; to hop, i.e. figuratively--Skip over(or spare); by implication--To hesitate; also literally--To limp, to dance.

“Twilight/Evening”—bre eh’-reb—Noun Masc.—1) Evening, night, sunset—1a) Evening, sunset, 1b) Night. Strong—Dusk.

“Plains/Desert Plains”—hbre ar-aw-baw’—Noun Fem.—1) Desert plain, steppe, desert, wilderness. Strong—A desert; especially(with the article prefix)--The (generally)sterile valley of the Jordan & its continuation to the Red Sea.

Argumentation:

Acts 7:35-43—[Steven to the Council of elders & scribes]“This Moses whom they rejected, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler & a judge?’ is the one God sent to be a ruler & a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush. “He brought them out, after he had shown wonders & signs in the land of Egypt, & in the Red Sea, & in the wilderness forty years. This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’ “This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, & with our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us, “whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt, “saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; as for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’ “And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, & rejoiced in the works of their own hands. Then God turned & gave them up to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets: ‘Did you offer Me slaughtered animals & sacrifices during forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel? You also took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, Images which you made to worship; And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’”

*Jn. 4:19-24—“The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. “Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, & you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, & now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit & truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. “God is Spirit, & those who worship Him must worship in spirit & truth.”

God’s people are not to worship in ignorance!

Jn. 15:20-16:2—“Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. If I had not come & spoken to them, they would have no sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin. He who hates Me hates My Father also. If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have seen & also hated both Me & My Father. But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, ‘They hated Me without a cause.’ “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning. These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.”

Acts 24:10-16—“Then Paul, after the governor had nodded to him to speak, answered: “Inasmuch as I know that you have been for many years a judge of this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself, because you may ascertain that it is no more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship. And they neither found me in the temple disputing with anyone nor inciting the crowd, either in the synagogues or in the city. Nor can they prove the things of which they now accuse me. But this I confess to you, that according to the Way which they call a sect, so I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law & in the Prophets. I have hope in God, which they themselves also accept, that there will be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just & the unjust. This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense toward God & men.”

1Cor. 11:16-19—“But if anyone seems to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor do the churches of God. Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse. For first of all, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you, & in part I believe it. For there must also be factions[heresies] among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you.”

Rom. 14:22—“Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves.”

*1Cor. 14:23-26—“Therefore if the whole church comes together in one place, & all speak with tongues, & there come in those who are uninformed or unbelievers, will they not say that you are out of your mind? But if all prophesy, & an unbeliever or an uninformed person comes in, he is convinced by all, he is convicted by all. And thus the secrets of his heart are revealed; & so, falling down on his face, he will worship God & report that God is truly among you. How is it then, brethren? Whenever you come together, each of you has a psalm, has a teaching, has a tongue, has a revelation, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification.”

Rom. 14:10-13—“But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written: “As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.” So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.”

*Php. 3:1-3—“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, & have no confidence in the flesh,”

*Col. 2:16-3:4—“So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility & worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, & not holding fast to the Head, from whom all the body, nourished & knit together by joints & ligaments, grows with the increase that is from God. Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations--“Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using--according to the commandments & doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, & neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh. If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, & your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”

Rev. 13:1-9—[false worship]“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads & ten horns, & on his horns ten crowns, & on his heads a blasphemous name. Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, & his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, & great authority. And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, & his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled & followed the beast. So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; & they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?” And he was given a mouth speaking great things & blasphemies, & he was given authority to continue for forty-two months. Then he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme His name, His tabernacle, & those who dwell in heaven. It was granted to him to make war with the saints & to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, & nation. All who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names have not been written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. If anyone has an ear, let him hear.”

1Jn. 2:18-23—“Little children, it is the last hour; & as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us; but they went out that they might be made manifest, that none of them were of us. But you have an anointing from the Holy One, & you know all things. I have not written to you because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, & that no lie is of the truth. Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father & the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also.” Illustration:

*The newlywed wife ‘worshiped’ her Momma’s recipe without considering the facts!

‘Religious people’ may work & worship alongside us. They may even be members of our church. These may have no idea of what it means to have a working relationship with Almighty God thru Jesus! They are effectively ‘cutting off the ends’—trying to conform their lives to the lifestyle of true Christians—with no substance for their ‘worship.’
