#4 Rev. 1:1 New revised Revelation Study

? Lets look at verse 1 again.

1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, which God gave Him In case there are some listening that might be wondering why God gave Jesus the Revelation since Jesus Himself is also God. listen as I try to explain it.

God is a Trinity, God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit. There is One God, but He manifest Himself in 3 ways. We as believers must understand this great truth.

The members of the Trinity are co-equal, yet occupy different roles within the plan and purposes of God. Within the Trinity there is perfect cooperation to affect God’s purpose, in other words, each member of the Trinity works in His particular capacity to fulfill the great plan of God. When Jesus left heaven He voluntarily set aside His deity and came to earth, He was born of the Virgin Mary, His Father was the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 1:20 Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

Philippians 2:5-8 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

He consented to be without distinction or honor among men. he laid aside, for a time, the manifestation of his glory. He not only emptied Himself of His previous form of God, but submitted to humiliation.

John 10:18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father. Jesus the Man here speaks of His Father.

The submission of the Son to the Father is that of a perfect voluntary servant hood.

God demanded a perfect sinless Sacrifice to pay for mans sins.

1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

Remember God can not die, so Jesus took on a human body in order to die in sinful mans stead.

Remember we’re talking about verse 1 1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, why did God give it to Jesus, as He is also God?

Listen although Christ is Himself God, and has light and life in Himself, yet, as Mediator between God and man, He receives instructions from the Father.

1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; notice Jesus became a man, and He is the One and only Mediator between God and man, He speaks to the Father on our behalf. That is the reason we always pray in His name, the Father listens because its in Jesus name.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

And yet there are people that pray to Mary, what an insult to Jesus and His finished work.

Listen, this same meditorial dependence still subsists at this time in heaven ,even in His glorified state, and will continue until He has subdued all things. Remember, Gods plan for this age is still on going at this time.

After Jesus has fulfilled all that we find in the Revelation, He will at that time turn all things back over to God the Father.

1 Corinthians 15:24-25 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

Isaiah 25:8 He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.

So, even in His glorified state, in His glorified body that He received at His Resurrection, He is seen in verse 1 as receiving the Revelation from the Father to communicate it to men.

Listen, Jesus ascended back to heaven in His glorified body and is now seated at the Fathers right hand, He is there making intercession for we who are saved, and He will remain at the Father right Hand until its time for His 2nd. Advent, His second coming.

Hebrews 1:3 when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

vs.7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

When Jesus had accomplished His mission of paying the sin debt, and was about to ascend back to heaven we read in;

Luke 24:50-51 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them.

51 And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

Luke is also the writer of Acts, and he gives the same account in Acts 1:9-12.

Acts 1: 9-12 And when he had spoken these things, while they beheld, he was taken up; and a cloud received him out of their sight. 10And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven as he went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; 11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, only these Galileans. All of Jesus Apostles were from the northern province of Galilee except Judas Iscariot, he was from the southern province of Judea , Samaria was the middle province all 3 were provinces of the Roman empire at that time.

11Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

Vs.12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey. about 1/2 mile.

Jesus will return in reverse order as He left, He left in a cloud and He will return the same as He left, in a cloud. Clouds were often symbols of majesty, many times God was represented as appearing with clouds.

Clouds indicated His presence over the mercy seat where He dwelt between the cherubim (Lev. 16:2).

Exodus 13:21 And the LORD went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night:

When Jesus revealed His glory to Peter, James, and John on the Mount of Transfiguration, the voice of the Father spoke from within a bright cloud.

Matthew 17:5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

Jesus tells of His return with clouds.

Matthew 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

vs.7 Behold, he cometh with clouds;

Here is the theme, the heart of the book, Jesus is coming, that is what the book is about.

The word “BEHOLD” means, look, pay attention. Why? because “He is coming.”

One out of every 25 New Testament verses directly refers to the second coming of Jesus Christ. Lets be sure and notice that It does not say, He will come. nor does it say, He shall come. It says, He is coming.

? Listen, in putting this broadcast together I read, in a convocation of church delegates from around the world meeting in Evanston, Illinois, under the direction of the World Council of Churches, they surveyed them and found that only ten percent of the American Protestant representatives found any significance at all in the doctrine of the second coming. Ninety percent of them said it’s not significant.”

? Peter predicted that kind of unbelief in;

2 Peter 3:3-4 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, 4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Scoffers have always wanted to deny the second coming because it’s connected with judgment and they’re not ready or willing to face the judgment of God. But in spite of what the scoffers say, the Bible makes it clear that Jesus is coming.

? Many places in the O.T. Tells of His 2nd.coming. The promise of God demands that Jesus come again.

In Genesis 49:10 is the very first prophecy concerning Messiah’s rule, it says,

Genesis 49:10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.

What is this telling us? We’re told here that out of the loins of Judah will come Shiloh the Messiah and the nations will obey Him. That hasn’t happened, but God promised it would. So if it didn’t happen the first time Jesus came, there surely must be a second time that He comes.

Isaiah said in Isaiah 9:6-7

6 For unto us a child is born, notice a child would be born, Jesus unto us a son is given: notice God gave His Son and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Its obvious that didn’t happen the first time He come. He didn’t raise up His government. He didn’t become the ruler. So that has yet to happen, so its in the future, at His next coming. these are promises of God.

In Psalm 2, God promised that the nations would bow down to Jesus Christ and He would rule them with a rod of iron. It didn’t happen at His first coming, so it will happen at His second coming. there must be a 2nd. Coming.

The Bible tells us in Zechariah 14: that when He comes He’ll split the Mount of Olives, It didn’t happen the first time He come, so there surly must be a 2nd.coming.

vs.7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; BEHOLD listen up, we’ve all heard that said.

I personally believe that He’ll set His feet down in the very same spot that He ascended from, and that was from the mount of Olives.

Zechariah 14: 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.

This will happen at His 2nd.coming.

vs.7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

Listen, this is telling about His return near the end of the 7 year tribulation, it says here that every eye shall see Him Listen, He will be made visible in his glory to all that dwell upon the earth at that time. I don’t pretend to know how this will come about, but it will.

Another way that every eye will see Him is that Some will see Him at the White Throne judgment of the lost. We that are saved will see Him in the rapture.

and they also which pierced him:

A Roman soldier pierced Him, but we read here, and they plural also which pierced him:

Listen, the Jews are responsible for Him being pierced, they cried crucify Him.

John 19:6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

We all had a part in Him being crucified, as He died for all sinners.

Zechariah 12:10 makes it plain that the Jews are responsible for Him being pierced, listen.

Zechariah 12: 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

The Roman soldier that actually plunged the spear into His side will see Him, although he’s been dead for centuries, he will see Him, even if its at the White Throne judgment of the lost. we hope he got saved before he died.

and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.

For some it will be the wailing & mourning of repentance. For others it will be the wailing mourning over the judgments that He will pour out on the earth dwellers.
