1 Kings 18

15 Elijah said, “As the Lord Almighty lives, whom I serve, I will surely present myself to Ahab today.”

Elijah on Mount Carmel

16 So Obadiah went to meet Ahab and told him, and Ahab went to meet Elijah.

17 When he saw Elijah, he said to him, “Is that you, you troubler of Israel?”

18 “I have not made trouble for Israel,” Elijah replied. “But you and your father’s family have. You have abandoned the Lord’s commands and have followed the Baals.

19 Now summon the people from all over Israel to meet me on Mount Carmel. And bring the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel’s table.”

20 So Ahab sent word throughout all Israel and assembled the prophets on Mount Carmel.

21 Elijah went before the people and said, “How long will you waver between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him; but if Baal is God, follow him.”

But the people said nothing.

22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only one of the Lord’s prophets left, but Baal has four hundred and fifty prophets.

23 Get two bulls for us. Let Baal’s prophets choose one for themselves, and let them cut it into pieces and put it on the wood but not set fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and put it on the wood but not set fire to it.

24 Then you call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by fire—he is God.”

Then all the people said, “What you say is good.”

25 Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “Choose one of the bulls and prepare it first, since there are so many of you. Call on the name of your god, but do not light the fire.”

26 So they took the bull given them and prepared it.

Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. “Baal, answer us!” they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made.

27 At noon Elijah began to taunt them. “Shout louder!” he said. “Surely he is a god! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or busy, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.”

28 So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed.

29 Midday passed, and they continued their frantic prophesying until the time for the evening sacrifice. But there was no response, no one answered, no one paid attention.

30 Then Elijah said to all the people, “Come here to me.” They came to him, and he repaired the altar of the Lord, which had been torn down.

31 Elijah took twelve stones, one for each of the tribes descended from Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord had come, saying, “Your name shall be Israel.”

32 With the stones he built an altar in the name of the Lord, and he dug a trench around it large enough to hold two seahs[a] of seed.

33 He arranged the wood, cut the bull into pieces and laid it on the wood. Then he said to them, “Fill four large jars with water and pour it on the offering and on the wood.”

34 “Do it again,” he said, and they did it again.

“Do it a third time,” he ordered, and they did it the third time.

35 The water ran down around the altar and even filled the trench.

36 At the time of sacrifice, the prophet Elijah stepped forward and prayed: “ Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel, let it be known today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant and have done all these things at your command.

37 Answer me, Lord, answer me, so these people will know that you, Lord, are God, and that you are turning their hearts back again.”

38 Then the fire of the Lord fell and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones and the soil, and also licked up the water in the trench.

39 When all the people saw this, they fell prostrate and cried, “The Lord—he is God! The Lord—he is God!”

40 Then Elijah commanded them, “Seize the prophets of Baal. Don’t let anyone get away!” They seized them, and Elijah had them brought down to the Kishon Valley and slaughtered there.

41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go, eat and drink, for there is the sound of a heavy rain.”

42 So Ahab went off to eat and drink, but Elijah climbed to the top of Carmel, bent down to the ground and put his face between his knees.

43 “Go and look toward the sea,” he told his servant. And he went up and looked.

“There is nothing there,” he said.

Seven times Elijah said, “Go back.”

44 The seventh time the servant reported, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.”

So Elijah said, “Go and tell Ahab, ‘Hitch up your chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”

45 Meanwhile, the sky grew black with clouds, the wind rose, a heavy rain started falling and Ahab rode off to Jezreel.

I hear the sound of the abundance of rain:

That means my ear has picked up a signal in the airwaves Sound = vibrations) my ear has picked up the vibration of something that is coming.

I can't see it, I can't touch it, I don't feel it but it's on the way.

How do I know it's coming this way?

Because it's getting louder all the time, (the closer it gets the louder it gets).

When a train is coming your way, you feel the vibrations before it arrives.

When large hail is coming your way, hear it blocks away.

When 120 men and women had gathered in the upper room waiting for the promised power, the bible says: Suddenly there came a sound from heaven like a mighty rushing wind and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

There was a sound: The sound was an indication (Something is coming).

Suddenly cloven tongues as fire appeared on each of them and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and began to speak with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

I hear the sound of an abundance of rain: Elijah spoke those words in a place and a time where there had not been one drop of water from the sky or due on the ground, in 31/2 years.

What did that mean ? (Rain)

It meant: life, recovery restoration, the rivers will run again, fish will be caught again, the crops will grow again,, there will be joy where there has been sorrow, there will be laughter where there has been weeping.

God said to prophesy to you and tell you it's getting ready to rain, the rain is on it's way, I hear the abundance of rain.

That may not mean anything to some of you, but for somebody listening to my voice it means everything.

It's on the way, it's on the way, it's on the way (tell your neighbor, it's on the way) Help is on the way, the answer is on the way, the breakthrough is on the way.

There's just something powerful about knowing that it's on the way that puts a fire back in your belly and a fight in your spirit, it gives you the strength to hold on.

I don't know who I'm talking to but you prayed and you fasted, and you've cried and you've confessed the word and from every natural evidence (nothing has changed, and if the truth be known for many of you it's gotten worse).

But I came to tell you: Change is in the atmosphere, the rain is coming, restoration is coming, healing is coming, peace is coming, joy is coming,

I hear the sound of the Abundance of rain: I don't see any evidence, I don't see any sign, (but I hear it)

Tell your neighbor: The sound is the sign

Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

There is a sound: The word sound does not just mean noise of racket.

It means PROCLAMATION

It's a decree in the spirit realm.

area or areas are in drought, or in lack, or broken or empty.

The rain is God taking every plan, every plot and every scheme and every weapon that the devil has launched at you and turning it around for your good.

The simplest definition of all is just answered prayer.

I wish somebody would prophesy (Gods gonna turn it around, now prophesy, God's gonna make it rain). Come on say it again: Gods gonna make it rain.

The rain was on the way but there was work to be done: Ahab went to play and Elijah went to pray.

E.M. Bounds, one of the greatest men of prayer that ever lived said: God does nothing except in answer to prayer.

So if things seem to be stagnate around you and nothing seems to be moving (you better check your prayer temperature.

For every miracle, every breakthrough, every prodigal who comes home, every son or daughter who is delivered from drugs and perversion (Somebody has to pray)

Elijah got himself in the birth position (head between his knees) and began to labor in prayer for what he heard in the Spirit.

He sent his servant out to look toward the sea for an answer: )The sea represents the word of God,

You have to get your eyes on the word.

His servant returns the answer: I’m looking but I don’t see any evidence of an answer to your prayer.

But Elijah just keeps on praying, he sends his servant back to the sea and while the servant is running Elijah is praying.

You just have to keep on praying: When you have a word from God in your spirit you just have to keep on praying.

Daniel prayed for 20 days with no evidence whatsoever that God had heard him, but on the 21rst day the breakthrough came, Michael the warring angel broke into the battle and Gabriel got the message through.

God will do whatever it takes to get it to you, if you don’t quit!

Keep on praying, keep on praising, keep on confessing, keep on tithing, and sowing, and singing and dancing.

Don’t let the devil see you sweat.

Delay is not denial (Abraham was delayed 25 years but not denied) Joseph was delayed 15 years but not denied.

Lazarus was delayed for 4 days but not denied.

Hab 2:3 For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: (though it tarry) wait for it because it will surely come , it will not tarry.

Num 23:19 God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent: if he said it he will do it and if he hath spoken it, he will bring it to pass.

Every time you pray you are putting pressure on the spirit realm and you are filling with expectancy the clouds that are bringing your blessings.

We don’t pray because we feel like it, we don’t pray just because it’s the Christian thing to do, or because it sounds like a good idea.

We pray because we have an objective that can only be reached and can only be won and conquered through prayer.

Elijah is still praying: (head between his knees) prayer is serious business and hard work.

Somebody said one time: Many Christians pray with such lukewarmness and indifference and uncertainty that they wouldn’t even recognize the answer to their prayer when it came.

Elijah’s servant has brought back another negative report: but Elijah keeps praying.

Go back to the sea look again (spend some more time in the word) then come tell me what you see.

On the 7th time the servant comes back with the report: Behold there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea.

In other word: There was a little word that came up to me.

(A word from the word)

A Rhema word: A specific word, for a specific purpose, for a specific time.

Tell your neighbor: All you need is a word.

If you’ve got a word you can make it through the storm.

If you’ve got a word you can dance in the fiery furnace.

If you’ve got a word you can sleep like a baby in a den of lions.

If you’ve got a word you can beat the famine with a little meal and a little oil.

If you’ve got a word you can walk on water.

Touch 3 people and tell them: all you need is a word.

Now tell them: I’ve got a word.

It was so small: Like a mans hand (It didn’t look like much but Elijah’s faith grabbed hold of it.

There’s something about faith that lets you see the greatness in little things:

Faith can see: A weapon of mass destruction in the jawbone of an ass.

Faith can see: A meal for a multitude in a sack lunch.

Faith can see: An oil business in a room full of empty jars.

Faith can see: A king in a simple smelly shepherd boy.

The servant saw a little cloud but Elijah saw (A river filling, ground soaking, drought busting rainstorm)

I don’t care how big the problem may seem to you, or how long is has existed: The promises of God come in concentrated form and one little word from God will set you free, and will destroy that thing forever.

Jesus said: All it takes is faith like the size of a mustard seed and you can command mountains to jump into the sea and they will have to go.

I feel some mountains starting to shake in here right now.

I feel some mountains losing their hold.

I feel some real mountain moving faith rising up in here right now.

I feel a Drought Busting faith in the house

(I HEAR THE SOUND OF THE ABUNDANCE OF RAIN)

I feel something shifting in the atmosphere right now

Everybody get on your feet

I prophesy to you right now the drought is breaking and the rain is on the way: Somebody listening to me right now (That drought in your finances is breaking, that long dry spell is over in Jesus name).

Somebody else: Your spirit has been dry for so long, and you’ve felt so distant from the presence of God (That drought is breaking now, the wind is blowing and the rain of Gods supernatural presence is flooding your soul right now, Just open up and let it fall on you.

Somebody else: You’ve been fighting a long battle with your health, (It’s raining, there’s healing in the rain, receive your healing, receive your breakthrough)

Somebody: You’ve been going through a long dry place with your family, it seems like it just gets worse and worse, (you try to love them, you try to embrace them, but they just push you away and run harder) It’s time for that drought to break, it’s time for it to rain on your family) Your husband, your wife, your children and even your grandchildren are going to get wet.

Come on and just lift your hands and tell God: Send the rain, tell him you want the rain.

Zec 10:1 Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain.

It’s the time of Rain: The anointing is here, the rain is falling, yokes are being destroyed, burdens are being lifted.

Joy is being restored, peace is being restored.

Elijah got off his knees and told Ahab: It’s here, The rain is here, If you don’t get that chariot rolling you aren’t getting off this mountain.

And while Elijah was prophesying the wind blew and the clouds turned black and the rain came.

Elijah heard it with his spirit.

He prophesied it with his mouth.

He saw it with his eyes.

I prophesy to you right now: Somebody is getting ready to see a manifestation of what you have heard God say in your spirit.

You’ve been confessing it and believing it and a lot of people thought you were crazy, but you’re getting ready to see it) because the drought is over and the rain is here.

I wish I had some people in here who knew how to enjoy the rain: I wish I had some people in here who knew how to dance in the rain.

They used to sing a chorus all the time when I was growing up (Send down the rain Lord)

It said there’s joy in the rain Lord

Healing in the rain Lord

Then it said: There’s dancing in the rain Lord

There’s freedom in the rain Lord

Somebody needs to lift your hands right now and begin to Praise him for that rain.

Praise him like a man in the desert who was dying for water and stumbled into an Oasis.

Praise him because the drought is over.
