Summary: God strengthens us to flee from demons, problems, sickness, loneliness, strife, envy, betrayals, mockery, criticisms and get to the high place with God, where you feel secure.

Sit with God

Habakkuk 3:19”The Lord GOD is my strength, And He has made my feet like hinds' feet, And makes me walk on my high places.”

My experience:

Can a scripture keep you so enthralled that you could think of nothing else? Yeah, get to the end of this article then you would comprehend the power behind God’s Word. Well, God sent this scripture to me almost like a ‘wrapped up gift’, at a time when things were unimaginably tough and knotty, as a family we were praying for God to intervene and bring us a breakthrough, during this time, I read this scripture: ‘He would make my feet like hinds’ feet and I would walk on high places!’

The words that captivated me much were the ‘high place!’ Normally we would get lot of ‘Amens’ for this promise because people attribute high places to materialistic blessings like car, promotion, foreign assignment, new job etc; however, walking in high places means that you would walk with God in the place where He dwells. This thought gives me goosebumps' , how about you? If you’re not excited about being with God, then the rest of the portion would bore you stiff; nevertheless, if you are the one who would love to get deeper with God then you proceed. You may wonder, ‘why is Bala getting so crazy about this verse, it doesn’t promise any goodies though?’ Well, if you know my journey then you would understand the reason behind my joy.

On one single day I had to deal with students bashing each other, three girls of the same family who joined Angel Home were creating problems because the father wanted the children back, besides this, administration, financial and various other problems choked me. I came home tensed, did not utter a word but inside I was pleading the Lord, ‘this is too much Lord.’ My feet were shaking and I felt

Wobbly

Shabby

Unsteady

It is now that I read ‘I will strengthen you and make your feet like a deer and make you walk in high places.’ The word ‘high’ means elevation or height in Hebrew and above the sky or heavenly in Greek, therefore, the ‘high place’ means the heavenly realm. Deer is able to scale treacherous tough terrains and elude predators. Deer’s legs are even able to jump on hard and sharp rocks to get to the top of the hill, a place where the deer will be in a much safer situation. Likewise, God strengthens us to flee from demons, problems, sickness, loneliness, strife, envy, betrayals, mockery, criticisms and get to the high place with God, where you feel secure.

You know what, at a time when the nation was in a bad shape, Habakkuk was able to say: 17 Though the fig tree should not blossom And there be no fruit on the vines, ….Yet I will exult in the LORD, I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.” You can make such statements only when you sit in the high place, anybody listening? Someone asked me – very close to me – ‘from where do you think you would get the money to purchase the school building?’ I said, ‘from above’, they said, ‘stop being arrogant.’ What? This is what you would be labeled when you answer from the ‘HIGH PLACE!’ Hurray! Not many can stay here, because you got to battle with demons.

When you reach this HIGH PLACE, your struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Did you read this? So put on the full armour of God if you desire to come to the high place, you cannot browse facebook and whatsup for 24 hours and come here.

HOW DOES ONE GO TO THIS HIGH PLACE?

In order to get to this high place, we got to leave the earthly stuff, the best scripture I could think of is from James chapter 3:

14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.

15 This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.

16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

Did you get that?

Stop even talking to people who are namby-pamby, who have the smell of gossip, bad mouth and evil thoughts, this would rub off on you and spoil your vision. Stay connected with God. I am battling with demons as I write this portion. But let me tell you the lovely things that happen when you close your door and spend quiet time with God, the sky opened for Peter when he went up on the housetop about the sixth hour to pray. (Acts 10:10) Are you content with a fleeting five-minutes prayer or would you like to climb up to the high place and live a heavenly life?
