Attention:

A Christian parent-child relationship is always at it’s best when their child comes to realize & recognize his/her parent’s love & sacrifice for the child’s sake. For some children that realization & recognition occurs early on, for others it comes much later, & for others still, it never happens.

Noah exhibited a tell-tale acceptance of God’s salvation upon exiting the ark.

Salvation is made manifest in our acceptance of all that is associated with it.

What are some personal manifestations of one’s acceptance of God's salvation?

What manifestations of acceptance flow from salvation?

How do manifestations of acceptance flow from salvation?

3 manifestations of acceptance that flow from salvation.

We have found previously that

1—Acceptance of salvation is manifested in...

FREEDOM(:18-19)

2—Acceptance of salvation is also manifested in...

WORSHIP(:20)

Explanation: (:20)How do we live Worshipfully?

:20—“Then Noah built an altar to the LORD, & took of every clean animal & of every clean bird, & offered burnt offerings on the altar.”

The first order of business for Noah was to openly Worship God. Noah’s worship was not merely entertained in his mind because he put feet to it as it were. He recognized that there was a tangible & right means by which he should honor God.

Illucidate Tithes & Offerings.

In order to do this, Noah saw fit to “build an altar.” It is important that worship(personal & corporate) have a focus. Not that the location itself is so important(Jn. 4:21-24), but that staging a focal point for worship is vital.

Jn. 4:21-24—“Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, & now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit & truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, & those who worship Him must worship in spirit & truth.””

House churches have a locale which may change readily. The locale may change but there is a gathering place...a holy place as it were. One particularly associated with the Church. Any ‘place’ becomes holy wherever two or three are gathered for prayer/worship in Christ’s name(Mat. 18:18-20).

Mat. 18:18-20—“Assuredly, I[Jesus] say to you[disciples], whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, & whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Associated with the altar were “burnt offerings.” There were minimally 2(possibly multiple—plural) burnt offerings offered.

This is the first mention in Scripture of an “altar.” No burnt offerings have been specifically mentioned in Scripture up to this point. However both are heavily implied thru Abel’s righteous offering of 4:4.

Gen. 4:2-4—“Then she[Eve] bore again, this time his[Cain] brother Abel. Now Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD. Abel also brought of the firstborn of his flock & of their fat. And the LORD respected Abel & his offering,”

What is the purpose of “burnt offerings” in comparison to other offerings?

“The priestly legislation attaches an expiatory[atoning/reconciling] function to it. “But Whenever [such an] offering is presented the motive is joyful” due to its being a freewill offering per Lev. 22:17-25; Num. 15:1-11.—V. Hamilton NICOT

“As an atoning sacrifice the whole offering was offered not so much for specific sins but for the basic sinfulness of each person & the society as a whole.”.....“An acceptable sacrifice meant that Yahweh[eternally living self-existent] received the animal as expiation for the offerer’s sinful disposition. Finding atonement...he was free to present other offerings.”—John Hartley WBC

“The complete consecration of the offerer & his gift is intended by the symbolic ritual.”—ISBE 1988 by T.R. Schreiner

“In Lev. 1, no occasion is mentioned for the individual’s presentation of a whole offering. Thus he could present a whole offering freely in praise or petition. From other passages it is learned that one presented a whole offering for various purposes, as fulfillment of a vow(Lev. 22:18)”;...“A new mother...as part of her purification ritual after childbirth(12:6-8)”;...“[By] one who had recovered from a skin disease(14:19-20, 22, 31; 15:14-15, 29-30)”;...“On taking a Nazirite vow...(Num. 6:14, 16)”;...“Upon a Nazirite becoming defiled...(Num. 6:9-12);...“After an altar was constructed, it was consecrated by the offering up of a whole offering on it(Gen. 8:20; Deut. 12:27; Judg. 6:26; 21:4; 2Sam. 24:25; 1Kgs. 18:30-38)”—John Hartley WBC

These “burnt offerings” included those from among those creatures considered to be “clean.” The designations of “clean” &/vs. unclean are not specified in Genesis at all but are specified in Exodus & Leviticus. The Jewish law normalizes that sacrifice for the Israelites employ specific & specifically “clean” animals & birds as opposed to unclean ones.

Noah knew which “animals” & “birds” were “clean” vs. unclean. Thus the Jewish law was anticipated/incipient/emergent in Noah’s offering(s) as well as Cain’s & Abel’s.

Since Moses is credited with writing the Pentateuch, it is probable that Moses iterated this designation for the sake of his time & audience(wandering Israel). Moses wants “to show that the covenant at Sinai is not a new work of God. The covenant is rather a return to God’s original promises.”—EBC

“The offerer first laid his hands upon the head of the animal so that it’s acceptance in his place was symbolically assured.”—ISBE 1988 by T.R. Schreiner

“Every clean bird” is set apart as distinct from all other animals. Why?

The appropriation of these “clean” animals for sacrifice appears to be the reason for Noah’s being instructed to take ‘7’ each of every “clean” kind of animal onto the Ark(7:2-3).

His offerings included a portion “of every clean animal.” Noah spared no expense, i.e., He did not let his reason keep him from offering certain animals ‘just in case.’ After the Flood, Noah continued to live “justly” as he had before(6:9). However--cf.—9:20-21!

The word translated as “worship” in the OT(hxv shaw-khaw') has to do with ‘bowing down’ or prostrating oneself as an expression of reverence. In the NT(proskunew) it has to do with ‘kissing the hand’ for the same reasons.

“Built”—hnb baw-naw’—Qal Imperfect—1) To build, rebuild, establish, cause to continue. Strong—To build(literally & figuratively).

“Altar”2X—xbzm miz-bay’-akh—Noun Masc.—1)Altar.?From—xbz zaw-bakh'—Verb—Strong— a primitive root; To slaughter an animal(usually in sacrifice).

“Burnt Offerings”—hle o-law’—Noun Fem.—1) Whole burnt offering; 2) Ascent, stairway, steps. Strong—A step or (collectively, stairs, as ascending); usually--A holocaust (as going up in smoke).

“Offered”—hle aw-law’—Hiphil(causative) Imperfect—1) To go up, ascend, climb—1c) (Hiphil)—1c1) To bring up, cause to ascend or climb, cause to go up, 1c2) To bring up, bring against, take away, 1c3) To bring up, draw up, train, 1c4) To cause to ascend, 1c5) To rouse, stir up (mentally), 1c6) To offer, bring up (of gifts), 1c7) To exalt, 1c8) To cause to ascend, offer. Strong—a primitive root; To ascend, intransitively--Be high; or actively--Mount; used in a great variety of senses, primary & secondary, literal & figurative (as follow).

Argumentation:

Mat. 2:1-2, 11—“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East & have come to worship Him.””.....“And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary His mother, & fell down & worshiped Him. And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, & myrrh.”

Satan’s desire is to be worshiped!:

Lk. 4:5-8—“Then the devil, taking Him[Jesus] up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, & their glory; for this has been delivered to me, & I give it to whomever I wish. “Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” And Jesus answered & said to him, “Get behind Me, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the LORD your God, & Him only you shall serve.’””

Worship can be misplaced:

Jn. 4:20 -24—““Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, & you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. “You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. “But the hour is coming, & now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit & truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. “God is Spirit, & those who worship Him must worship in spirit & truth.””

Rom. 1:18-25—“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness & unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power & Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, & their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, & changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man--& birds & four-footed animals & creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, & worshiped & served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.”

?HOW do WE live WORSHIPFULLY?

Worship recognizes God’s majesty & mastery:

Rev. 15:1-4—“Then I saw another sign in heaven, great & marvelous: seven angels having the seven last plagues, for in them the wrath of God is complete. And I saw something like a sea of glass mingled with fire, & those who have the victory over the beast, over his image & over his mark & over the number of his name, standing on the sea of glass, having harps of God. They sing the song of Moses[Ex. 15:1-18(:1-3, :11-18)], the servant of God, & the song of the Lamb, saying: “Great & marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just & true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, & glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come & worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.””

Worship is the result of daily & individual transformation to God’s purpose in Christ:

Rom. 12:1-2—“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good & acceptable & perfect will of God.”

Php. 3:3—“For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, & have no confidence in the flesh,”

Mat. 7:21-24—““Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. “Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, & done many wonders in Your name?’ “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ “Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, & does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock:”

Illustration:

?What if we were so in awe of God’s salvation by grace thru faith, that we were miserable without corporate worship!

When I got saved, I was compelled of God’s Holy Spirit to worship corporately!/Obviously I immediately began worshiping God personally & individually but...I was absolutely miserable without gathering with the family of God to corporate worship/My case was not unusual or unique among the remainder of Christendom/I immediately began looking for a local gathering of the saints/Acceptance of salvation is manifested in WORSHIP

Application:

?Acceptance of God’s Salvation Manifested in Your WORSHIP?

?Acceptance of God’s Salvation Manifested in You?

CONCLUSION:

Visualization:
