“Jesus is The High Priest” Hebrew 7:23-28
• They had charge of sanctuary and alter they offered sacrifices for sins
• They lighted the lamps of the tabernacle, burned incense
• Placed the Bread of Presence on the alter every Sabbath
• Offered Sacrifice for his sins then washed his hands and feet then clothed himself white Garment
• Servants brought a bull that the priest himself had purchased.
• Placing his hands on the animal’s head thereby transferring his sins, the priest would offer a prayer of confession:
• “O Lord God, I have committed iniquity; I have transgressed; I have sinned, I and my house. O Lord, I beseech thee, cover over the sins and transgressions which I have committed, transgressed and sinned before thee, I and my house.”

2. Jesus The High Priest Stays with us
• Jesus didn’t just die off and other took his place
• vs 23 Furthermore, the former priests were many in number, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office;
• Jesus Stays with us Jesus told the Disciples , I am with you always, to the end of the age
3. Jesus the High Priest Never Leaves Us
• Jesus never leaves us Vs 24 but he holds his priesthood permanently, because he continues for ever.
• People leave you, Hope leaves you, help leaves you but Jesus will never leave you nor forsake you
• Jesus never leaves us therefore, be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."A 6So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"
4. Jesus The High Priest Dies for Us
• 26 For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, blameless, undefiled, separated from sinners, and exalted above the heavens. 27Unlike the other* high priests, he has no need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for those of the people; this he did once for all when he offered himself.
• Jesus death paid for my sins He paid my debt, he made satisfaction for my sins, He paid the cost
• At the cross, Jesus not only offers the sacrifice for sin, a function and duty of a priest, but he offers himself as the sacrifice itself!
• Yes! He’s willing to lay down his life for us! In fact, that’s what friends do, he says. It’s what the Good Shepherd is all about — putting his own life at risk for the sake of the flock? "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.
5. Jesus the High Priest Saves Us Jesus has a permanent priesthood. 25Therefore he is able to save completelyC those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them.
• In the OT, salvation refers both to everyday, regular types of deliverance--as from enemies, disease, and danger
• Salvation is a present reality. It is deliverance from the dominion of sin and Satan; it is freedom to love and serve God now
• Salvation is Redemption God’s merciful and costly action on behalf of his people (sinful human beings). The basic meaning of the word is release or freedom on payment of a price, deliverance by a costly method.
• Salvation is Rescue Jesus Christ, 4who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
• Salvation is Recovery Jesus salvages us makes us a new creature in Christ old man dead
6. Finally Jesus is The High Priest who Stays with us, Never leaves us, Dies for Us, and Saves Us.
