Summary: We are to confess the WORD of God to ourselves daily.

Confessions from the WORD of God.

What is the meaning of confession?

Confession is affirming something we believe. It is testifying to something we know. It is also witnessing for a truth that we have embraced as children of God.

Because we are created in God's image, we are to imitate Him in our everyday speech. When Jesus was here on earth He would always say words that are edifying. The book of Proverbs 6:2 records this about our words.

You are snared by the words of your mouth;

You are taken by the words of your mouth.

Another translation puts it this way

Then you are trapped

by your own words. - CEV

Jesus also said this about our words in Matthew 12:36 - 37

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgement. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

We need to watch what we say so that we will be justified and not condemned on the day of judgement.

This is important for us to understand. The Psalmist said this in Psalm 141:3 - "Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips."

Our words dominate us.

We are to speak words of faith only. Calling things that are not as though they are. God said so in Romans 4:17. Therefore, let's see some powerful scriptures that we can confess to ourselves on a daily basis.

Scriptures on salvation

The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,

And by His stripes we are healed.

Though the mountains shake with its swelling. Selah

They shall not be ashamed,

But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.

1 Corinthians 6: 19 - 20

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

1 John 4:16 -19

And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgement; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.

Romans 5:8

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 4: 9 -10

Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.

1 John 3:24

Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

Romans 8: 9 -11

But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

Hebrews 3:6

But Christ as a Son over His own house, whose house we are if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end.

And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand. I and My Father are one.

Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd;

I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;

He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness

For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil;

For You are with me;

Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;

You anoint my head with oil;

My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me

All the days of my life;

And I will dwell in the house of the Lord

Forever.

Proverbs 2:11

Understanding will keep you.

So shall I be saved from my enemies

Scriptures on peace

And give you peace.

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

Remember the WORD of God also says that there is power in the tongue. When we speak God's WORD only it will eventually become a reality in our lives if we do not let go of the truth. His WORD says that we shall know the truth and the truth that we hold on to will make us free.

And he whom the Son sets free is free indeed. I am sure God wants us as His children to be free from the lies of the enemies all because of His love for us. God is love and He loves us unconditionally and His love takes care of everything that concerns us.

The Bible says shall two walk together unless they agree, saying the WORD of God is agreeing with Him and His promises are yes and amen in Christ. Speaking words of faith will help us to develop our faith life. We please God by saying what He says and not what we want to say about ourselves.

There are angels working with us and they only act on what is said if it's in line with God's WORD. The WORD of God is alive. Thinking about His promises builds us up and transforms our lives to His glory.

Speak what God says in His WORD and He will perfect that which concerns us all.
