Summary: Having a life-giving Lord enables us to make three powerful and truthful statements…

1. “I am made right with God” (vs 10)

Romans 8:10 And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. ?

I want to speak to those of us who may be faltering or doubting in their faith today…

Romans 10:9 (NIV2011)

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

John 1:12 (NIV2011)

Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God

1 John 5:13 (NIV2011)

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (NIV2011)

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Today, if Jesus is your Lord and Savior, He has made you right with Him!

2. “I am made powerful through God” (vs 11)

Romans 8:11 The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.

The Bible tells us that there is a second work that the Holy Spirit does in us after our salvation

John 20:19-22 (NIV2011)

19 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jewish leaders, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”

20 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

21 Again Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.”

22 And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.

But, around 40 days later, He makes this statement:

Luke 24:49 (NIV2011)

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

We then see the fulfillment of that 10 days later:

Acts 2:1-4 (NIV2011)

1 When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.

3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.

4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

We see this happen again when Peter was speaking to a group of Gentiles:

Acts 10:44-46 (NIV2011)

44 While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message.

45 The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles.

46 For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.

And it happens again in Paul’s ministry:

Acts 19:6-7 (NIV2011)

6 When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

7 There were about twelve men in all.

The power and the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is available to all of us today!

3. “I am made whole by God” (vs 11)

Romans 8:11 And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. ?

Think about this…the very same Spirit that was used to raise Jesus from the dead is the same Spirit that gives life to our human/mortal bodies

Jeremiah 17:14 (NIV2011)

Heal me, LORD, and I will be healed;

1 Peter 2:24 (NIV2011)

… “by his wounds you have been healed.”

Psalm 103:2-3 (NIV2011)

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—

3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases,

James 5:16 (NIV2011)

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

If you are sick or in pain, the Holy Spirit is here to give life to your body!
