Topic: *AFTER THE FLESH OR AFTER THE SPIRIT*
Romans 8:3-4 King James Version (KJV)
3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Beloved, the question you have to ask yourself is simple:
*"Am I walking after the flesh or after the Spirit?"*
Beloved in answering this question, you will know where you stand and what is going on with you.
Beloved, to walk after the flesh is to be guided by the sinful nature of man. When you are in this state you are controlled by the lustful desires of the flesh and you respond to every form of hunger or desire the flesh expresses. You don't do stuff because you have decided to them or want to do them but because the body is desiring for them and is pressuring you to do them.
E.g. a person who wants to eat as soon as he is hungry and loses control because of his hunger cannot fast. Such a person spoils his fast almost everytime by giving excuses to eat during a fast. Such a person has no control over his desire to eat but the desire to eat controls him. This person is walking after the flesh.
Also, a person who walks after the flesh does not seek the direction of the Spirit in the things they do. They just act. E.g. when they feel for sex they just have to do it no matter who is available or whatever, once they feel for it they have to get it. These people lack selfcontrol.
Beloved to walk after the Spirit is to live a life guided by Precious Holy Spirit. In this situation you just don't respond to desires and hunger in the body but you respond to the leading and direction of Precious Holy Spirit.
E.g. a person who will not just eat or have sex because the desire is there or there is availability of food or means to have sex but one who will do these because he has decided to them and is following the leading of the Spirit of the Lord to walk hence whatever is being done is at the right time and it pleases the Lord. Such a person can fast from food and or sex and not even mind when tempted because he will allow the Spirit to lead him not to fall or yield to the temptations of food and or sex.
*Beloved, the question again is, where do you stand?*
Do you do stuff based on desires or availability, or you do them because you have decided to do them by the leading of Precious Holy Spirit?
Jesus walked after the Spirit and fulfilled the righteousness of the law. If we will realise that *IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS* and no one else, and we will live in Him and Him in us, we will live by the leading of Precious Holy Spirit; and in Jesus we will fulfil the righteousness of the law.
Prayer: Daddy please help me to yield totally to Precious Holy Spirit and walk after the Spirit for the rest of my life to the glory of your holy name. In the mighty name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
