LIVING WISE IN A STUPID WORLD

(What did the smartest man who ever lived have to say about it)

Chapter 1 of 31. Lesson #1

1:1-6. A wise man will hear.

God gave Solomon wisdom. 1 Kings 3:9, “Give…thy servant an understanding heart…” God will give your wisdom, if you ask. James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God…”

What is wisdom? Biblical wisdom is morality and knowledge of God’s instruction to overcome any problem in life. It is practical prudence, skill, cleverness, insight, observation, common sense or scrutiny, which leads to success in a matter.

How do you get wisdom? Read the Bible, listen and apply teaching and preaching, have godly friends and mentors and learn from your mistakes.

1:7-9. Wisdom starts with knowledge.

The fear of the Lord involves awe, reverence, love and trust in God and it must come first.

Listen to mom and dad.

Learn all you can from godly people.

Wisdom gives honor, guidance and protection.

1:10-19. Walk not in the way of sinners.

Avoid sinful people.

Sinful people normally have a hard and shorter life.

Your lifestyle will choose your destiny. Even animals will avoid self-destruction but not some people. Have the sense to turn away!

Greedy people are also self-destructive.

1:20-33. Be wise in the workplace

Where you work gives you one of the greatest opportunities to express your wisdom. For most of us, it is a big part of our ministry.

We need wise politicians. Vote for those that affirm godly principles.

Unwise people are not willing to change, proud, they are unpopular, a source of conflict, immoral and not open to correction.

Be accountable. If you turn from your stupid ways, you will be blessed.

God laughs at the stupid.

God and His wisdom wants to be found.

There is much security in knowing that you are doing the right thing.
