The STRATEGY For SATAN’s FINEST HOUR--A-I—Revelation 13:1-18

Attention:

Allstate Insurance commercial—the ‘Mayhem’ guy(personification of mayhem).

‘Mayhem’ walks up to the front door video camera of a house.

The owner is at a ball game. The owner’s phone warns him that someone is at his house. His phone connects him to the live video feed of his front porch, lawn, & driveway, where he sees Mayhem.

Via the video, Mayhem delightedly looks into the camera, introduces himself to the home owner as a car thief. He tells the owner that he’s going to steal his car because ‘that’s his job.’

Mayhem then takes the owner’s sports flagpole from his porch & uses it to break into the owner’s car. Mayhem hot wires the car, & drives off maniacally taking out the owner’s mailbox & running over his motorcycle in the process.

Mayhem states, “Without Allstate it’s like you’re getting robbed twice!”

Then Mayhem states the Allstate tag line—“Choose Allstate, & be better protected from mayhem like me!”

The purpose of our looking into ‘earth’s future history’ is so you will be ‘better protected from true mayhem like Satan & his ways’!

God furnished, to the apostle John, a picture of Satan’s finest hour.

Those who trust Scripture are furnished a clear picture of Satan’s end time strategy.

What strategies will mark Satan’s last days?

2 major strategies for Satan’s finest hour are...

A--Satan’s Counterfeit CHRIST(:1-10)

&

B--Satan’s Counterfeit PROPHET(:11-18)

By examining ‘Satan’s Finest Hour’, then we are better able to see our own shortcomings, & God’s commendations, so that we may avoid Satan’s deceptions, & lead others on a straight path.

Eph. 6:11-13—“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh & blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, & having done all, to stand.”

A--SATAN’s COUNTERFEIT CHRIST(:1-10)

8 Satanic strategies wielded thru the counterfeit Christ.

1—Satan’s strategy for his finest hour Turns...

POLITICS/Rule His Way(:1-2a)

Explanation/Argumentation:(1-2a) Beastly

:1—“Then I stood on the sand of the sea. And I saw a beast rising up out of the sea, having seven heads & ten horns, & on his horns ten crowns, & on his heads a blasphemous name.”

“And he stood on the sand of the seashore.”

The dragon himself is superintending the arrival/rise of the beast thru whom he will wield such power over earth.

“Then I stood on the sand of the sea.”

The sand, thruout Scripture, pictures a vast innumerable/incalculable number.(Gen. 32:12; Job 6:3).

Genesis 32:12—“For You said, ‘I will surely treat you well, & make your descendants as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.’”

Job 6:2-3—“Oh, that my grief were fully weighed, And my calamity laid with it on the scales! For then it would be heavier than the sand of the sea--Therefore my words have been rash.”

“A textual variant reads estayhn[“I stood”] rather than estayh[“he stood”]. This takes John as the subject, as the one standing on the sands of the sea.” “If this reading were correct, it would be the only time in the book when John changes position without being told to do so.”(cf.-4:1-2; 6:1, 3, 5, 7; 10:4, 8-10; 11:1-2; 14:13; 17:1-3; 19:9; 21:9-11; 22:10). “The first person reading apparently arose when copyists accommodated estayh to the first person of the following eidon[“I saw”] in 13:1.”—R.L. Thomas

“Stood”—estayhn(“I stood”) OR--estayh(“he stood”)—isthmi—1Aorist Passive Indicative 1st Sing. “Sand/Shore”—ammov—Noun Fem.—1) Sand, sandy ground. Strong—Sand(as heaped on the beach). Used 5X.?Perhaps from—ama—a primary particle; properly--At the "same" time; but freely used as a preposition or adverb denoting close association.

“Sea/Seashore”2X—yalassa—Noun Fem.—1) The sea—1a) Used of the sea in general, 1b) Used specifically of the Mediterranean Sea or the Red Sea. Yalassa is the more general word, indicating the sea or ocean as contrasted with the land or shore. It may be applied to small bodies of water. Pelagov is the open sea, the uninterrupted expanse of water. Cf.-Mat. 18:6 where both are used. Strong—probably prolonged from alv[salt]; The sea(genitive case or specially).

“And I saw a beast”

“A beast”—yhrion—Wild, Savage, Brutal, Ferocious, Ravenous animal that is hurtful to & would prey upon mankind. A truly beastly animal has no concept of right or wrong. It instead determines it’s own right or wrong.

This beast both represents an individual & as well as a kingdom much like Adolph Hitler was representative of what he reigned over & it’s dominion was thus identified thru Hitler. Both Daniel & Paul refer to Antichrist as a person(Dan. 7:25, 8:24-25; 11:36-45; 2Thess. 2:3-4, 8-10).

This “beast” is entirely self-centered & is bent on the destruction of all that that pleases God. Particularly all those who love God by faith in Jesus Christ.

This “beast” is bent on Satan’s way, & thus is bent on separating mankind from God & thus from life by faith & eternity in heaven.

Many will be oblivious to the beast’s way & Satan’s way versus any other...

Example:

2019 Presidential State Of The Union Address.

There were two obvious groups or clique among the political parties made obvious by their responses to president Trump’s speech. I was reminded of school children wanting their way!

“Saw”(See :2)—eidw OR--oida—2Aorist Active Indicative 1st Sing.—1) To see—1a) To perceive with the eyes, 1b) To perceive by any of the senses, 1c) To perceive, notice, discern, discover, 1d) To see—1d1) i.e. To turn the eyes, the mind, the attention to anything, 1d2) To pay attention, observe, 1d3) To see about something 1d31) i.e. To ascertain what must be done about it, 1d4) To inspect, examine, 1d5) To look at, behold, 1e) To experience any state or condition, 1f) To see i.e. Have an interview with, to visit; 2) To know—2a) To know of anything, 2b) To know, i.e. Get knowledge of, understand, perceive—2b1) of any fact, 2b2) the force & meaning of something which has definite meaning, 2b3) To know how, to be skilled in, 2c) To have regard for one, cherish, pay attention to(1Th 5:12). Eidw/oida denotes to see with the mind's eye, signifies a clear & purely mental perception. Strong—a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent optanomai & oraw; properly--To see(literally or figuratively); by implication (in the perfect only)--To know.

“Beast”(See :2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 14, 15, 17, 18)—yhrion—Noun Neuter—1) An animal; 2) A wild animal, wild beast, beast; 3) metaph.--A brutal, bestial man, savage, ferocious. Yhrion is beast, usually wild beast. It implies perhaps not necessarily wildness & ferocity, but at least a certain amount of brutality which is wanting in zwon. Zwon emphasizes the qualities in which animals are akin to man, yhrion, those in which they are inferior. Strong—diminutive from the same as yhra[ from yhr(a wild animal, as game); Hunting, i.e. figuratively--Destruction]; A dangerous animal.

“Rising up out of the sea,”

“Out of the sea”—Out of a restless, chaotic mass & quite possibly a representation of the evil residing in the bottomless pit/abyss(9:1-11). “In ancient thought, the sea was commonly the reservoir of evil.”

To claim that the beast ascended out of the actual sea, would contradict 11:7 & 17:8(R.L. Thomas) Since 11:7 & 17:8 state that the beast comes up from the bottomless pit/abyss, then the “sea” must in some way represent the bottomless pit/abyss, OR that the bottomless pit/abyss in some way represents “the sea.” This counterfeit Christ will be a man who will allow the demonic presence of Satan to control him.

Rev. 11:7; 17:8—“When they[God’s Two Witnesses(11:1-13)] finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, & kill them.”.....“The beast that you saw was, & is not, & will ascend out of the bottomless pit & go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, & is not, & yet is.”

For ancient peoples, the sea depicted a formidable place into which man cannot enter. It is inhospitable to him; a place in which he cannot possibly live & can only touch the surface of. The undersea activity is that of which man only sees little evidence. The sea is considered a place of Satanic/evil presence & activity.

However, “the sea” could also possibly refer to the ‘sea of depraved & unbelieving humanity.’

Isa. 26:20-21—27:1—“Come, my people, enter your chambers, And shut your doors behind you; Hide yourself, as it were, for a little moment, Until the indignation is past. For behold, the LORD comes out of His place To punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity; The earth will also disclose her blood, And will no more cover her slain. In that day the LORD with His severe sword, great & strong, Will punish Leviathan the fleeing serpent, Leviathan that twisted serpent; And He will slay the reptile that is in the sea.”

“Leviathan”—Ntywl—Sea monster, dragon.

“Reptile/Dragon”—Nynt—Dragon, serpent, sea monster. “Rising Up/Coming Up/Rising”—anabainw—Verb—1) Ascend—1a) To go up, 1b) To rise, mount, be borne up, spring up. “Out Of/From”—ek OR--ex—Prep.—1) Out of, from, by, away from. Strong—a primary preposition denoting origin(the point whence action or motion proceeds), From, out(of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct or remote).

“Having seven heads”

“Seven heads”—

•These are 7 points of satanic influence acting in differing historical timeframes.

Rev. 17:8-11—“The beast that you saw was, & is not, & will ascend out of the bottomless pit & go to perdition. And those who dwell on the earth will marvel, whose names are not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world, when they see the beast that was, & is not, & yet is. Here is the mind which has wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, & the other has not yet come. And when he comes, he must continue a short time. And the beast that was, & is not, is himself also the eighth, & is of the seven, & is going to perdition.”[eternal destruction]

I was considering the horns, & there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, & a mouth speaking pompous words.”.....“Then I wished to know the truth about the fourth beast, which was different from all the others, exceedingly dreadful, with its teeth of iron & its nails of bronze, which devoured, broke in pieces, & trampled the residue with its feet; & the ten horns that were on its head, & the other horn which came up, before which three fell, namely, that horn which had eyes & a mouth which spoke pompous words, whose appearance was greater than his fellows.”

•For Daniel all ten horns appear to be located on one head(kingdom in time). Satan’s final empire will be a political rule of 10 kings who will give themselves to the Antichrist(Rev. 17:12-13).

Dan. 7:19-25—“I was watching; & the same horn was making war against the saints, & prevailing against them[Rev. 13:7], until the Ancient of Days came, & a judgment was made in favor of the saints of the Most High, & the time came for the saints to possess the kingdom. Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast shall be A fourth kingdom on earth, Which shall be different from all other kingdoms, And shall devour the whole earth, Trample it & break it in pieces. The ten horns are ten kings Who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; He shall be different from the first ones, And shall subdue three kings. He shall speak pompous words against the Most High, Shall persecute the saints of the Most High, And shall intend to change times & law. Then the saints shall be given into his hand For a time & times & half a time.”

“Horns”2X—“Horn”—kerav—Noun Neuter—1) A horn—1a) Of animals, 1b) since animals(especially bulls) defend themselves with their horns, the horn with the Hebrews(& other nations) is a symbol of strength & courage, & used as such in a variety of phrases—1b1) A mighty & valiant helper, the author of deliverance, of the Messiah, 1c) A projecting extremity in a shape like a horn, a point, apex: as of an altar. The Beast who arises out of the sea is the Antichrist will arise out of the ten kings, who will as one, yield him their power.

Rev. 17:12-13—“The ten horns which you saw are ten kings who have received no kingdom as yet, but they receive authority for one hour as kings with the beast. These are of one mind, & they will give their power & authority to the beast.”

“On his heads a blasphemous name”—

None of heads(empires/kingdoms) is godly.

Some of the Roman emperors applied the titles of ‘Lord’, ‘Savior’, ‘Son of God’ to describe themselves as gods.

1Cor. 12:3—“Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God calls Jesus accursed, & no one can say that Jesus is Lord except by the Holy Spirit.”

Truth be told, that no one can simultaneously call attention to themselves AND call attention to Jesus as Lord!

Mk. 12:28-31—“Then one of the scribes came, & having heard them reasoning together, perceiving that He had answered them well, asked Him, “Which is the first commandment of all?” Jesus answered him, “The first of all the commandments is: ‘Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one. And you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, & with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. And the second, like it, is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.””

All of your personal relationships flow from or are sourced in your abiding love for God.

:2—“Now the beast which I saw was like a leopard, his feet were like the feet of a bear, & his mouth like the mouth of a lion. The dragon gave him his power, his throne, & great authority.....”

“In this vision, God used images from Daniel’s vision of Daniel 7 to communicate the identity & nature of this “beast” to John. Daniel 7 used four animals(beasts) to describe the course of human government from Daniel’s time until the ultimate reign of Jesus on this earth.”—D. Guzik

Dan. 7:3-6—“And four great beasts came up from the sea, each different from the other. The first was like a lion, & had eagle’s wings. I watched till its wings were plucked off; & it was lifted up from the earth & made to stand on two feet like a man, & a man’s heart was given to it. And suddenly another beast, a second, like a bear. It was raised up on one side, & had three ribs in its mouth between its teeth. And they said thus to it: ‘Arise, devour much flesh!’ “After this I looked, & there was another, like a leopard, which had on its back four wings of a bird. The beast also had four heads, & dominion was given to it.”

“The first three animals are a lion(in Daniel, a picture of the Babylonian Empire), a bear(a picture of Medo-Persian Empire), & a leopard(a picture of the Greek Empire).—D. Guzik

“John lists the three animals in reverse order from Daniel, since he is looking backward in time.” Whereas “Daniel, looking forward in time, listed the animals & the kingdoms they represent in chronological order.”—MNTC

Dan. 7:7-8, 23-24—““After this I saw in the night visions, & behold, a fourth beast, dreadful & terrible, exceedingly strong. It had huge iron teeth; it was devouring, breaking in pieces, & trampling the residue with its feet. It was different from all the beasts that were before it, & it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, & there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them, before whom three of the first horns were plucked out by the roots. And there, in this horn, were eyes like the eyes of a man, & a mouth speaking pompous words.”.....“Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast shall be A fourth kingdom on earth, Which shall be different from all other kingdoms, And shall devour the whole earth, Trample it & break it in pieces. The ten horns are ten kings Who shall arise from this kingdom. And another shall rise after them; He shall be different from the first ones, And shall subdue three kings.”

Daniel’s 4 beasts are Kingdoms/Empires/Dynasties yet each kingdom has had as it’s head a man/ruler. But the 4th kingdom is Antichrist’s(beast out of the sea) kingdom. It will be composed of the most fearsome characteristics of each of the three previous kingdoms.

“The fourth animal was a dreadful, indescribable beast which shared the most terrifying characteristics of the previous beasts, yet represents the final world empire under the leadership of a Satanic dictator(Daniel 7:7-8).”—D. Guzik

“Like a leopard”—Agility, Stealth, Speed

Dan. 7:6—“...On its back four wings of a bird...”

David. Guzik—“Though we commonly call this coming world leader the Antichrist, the Bible gives him many names or titles. He is known as:

· “The little horn” of Daniel 7:8

· “The king of fierce countenance” of Daniel 8:23

· “The Prince that shall come” of Daniel 9:26

· “The king who shall do according to his own will” of Daniel 11:36-45

· The one who comes in his own name of John 5:43, whom [political]Israel will receive as a messiah.

· “The son of perdition”[eternal destruction], “the man of sin”, “the lawless one” of 2 Thessalonians 2:3.”

Argumentation:

Isa. 31:1—“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help, And rely on horses, Who trust in chariots because they are many, And in horsemen because they are very strong, But who do not look to the Holy One of Israel, Nor seek the LORD!”

Isa. 30:1-3—“Woe to the rebellious children,” says the LORD, “Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin; Who walk to go down to Egypt, And have not asked My advice, To strengthen themselves in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore the strength of Pharaoh Shall be your shame, And trust in the shadow of Egypt Shall be your humiliation.”

Hosea 11:7—“My people are bent on backsliding from Me. Though they call to the Most High, None at all exalt Him.”

2Chron. 16:1-9—“In the thirty-sixth year of the reign of Asa, Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah & built Ramah, that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah. Then Asa brought silver & gold from the treasuries of the house of the LORD & of the king’s house, & sent to Ben-Hadad king of Syria, who dwelt in Damascus, saying, “Let there be a treaty between you & me, as there was between my father & your father. Here, I have sent you silver & gold; come, break your treaty with Baasha king of Israel, so that he will withdraw from me.” So Ben-Hadad heeded King Asa, & sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel. They attacked Ijon, Dan, Abel Maim, & all the storage cities of Naphtali. Now it happened, when Baasha heard it, that he stopped building Ramah & ceased his work. Then King Asa took all Judah, & they carried away the stones & timber of Ramah, which Baasha had used for building; & with them he built Geba & Mizpah. And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, & said to him: “Because you have relied on the king of Syria, & have not relied on the LORD your God, therefore the army of the king of Syria has escaped from your hand. Were the Ethiopians & the Lubim not a huge army with very many chariots & horsemen[1million men & 300 chariots]? Yet, because you relied on the LORD, He delivered them into your hand. For the eyes of the LORD run to & fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars.””

Ps. 20:1-9—To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.—“May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble; May the name of the God of Jacob defend you; May He send you help from the sanctuary, And strengthen you out of Zion; May He remember all your offerings, And accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the LORD fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the LORD saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven With the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, & some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God. They have bowed down & fallen; But we have risen & stand upright. Save, LORD! May the King answer us when we call.”

Rom. 2:28-29—“For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly, nor is circumcision that which is outward in the flesh; but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; & circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.”

Php. 3:1-16—“Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe. Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation! For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, & have no confidence in the flesh, though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so: circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee; concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless. But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, & count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ & be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith; that I may know Him & the power of His resurrection, & the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death, if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind & reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Therefore let us, as many as are mature, have this mind; & if in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal even this to you. Nevertheless, to the degree that we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us be of the same mind.”

Jn. 4:23-24—“But the hour is coming, & now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit & truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, & those who worship Him must worship in spirit & truth.”

Jude 1:20-25—“But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And on some have compassion, making a distinction; but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire, hating even the garment defiled by the flesh. Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling, And to present you faultless Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, To God our Savior, Who alone is wise, Be glory & majesty, Dominion & power, Both now & forever. Amen.”
