Summary: Try to imagine all the difficulties that a person could possibly face on this planet earth. Now, try to think of what it would be like to say “no more” one last time and bid riddance to them all. It can happen. It will happen . . . for those who make Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior.

NO MORE

SCRIPTURE: Revelation 21:4 - 5 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

INTRODUCTION:

Have you ever thought about the short phrase “no more”? Maybe just today you have used this phrase when completing a difficult duty, solving a troubling problem, or suffering pain of some sort.

Often times, I think “No more will I have to do that for another few weeks, or months, or some other period of time. It gives me some encouragement as I complete tasks that are demanding or go through trials that seem to take away my very breath of life.

Try to imagine all the difficulties that a person could possibly face on this planet earth. Now, try to think of what it would be like to say “no more” one last time and bid riddance to them all. It can happen. It will happen . . . for those who make Christ Jesus their Lord and Savior.

I. THE GOD OF “NO MORE” SADNESS

A. I Samuel 1:18 “And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.”

B. In anticipation of heaven, the gospel now does much to alleviate human woes, and to wipe away tears from the mourner’s eyes. Albert Barnes

C. Though joy is now sometimes only temporary, just ahead is a time of eternal joy.

Psalm 30:5 “For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favor is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.”

Matthew 25:21 “His Lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.”

II. THERE WILL BE “NO MORE” WICKEDNESS

Psalm 104:35 “Let the sinners be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more. Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD.”

Proverbs 10:25 “As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.”

III. THERE WILL BE “NO MORE” VIOLENCE IN JERUSALEM

Isaiah 30:19 “For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee.”

Isaiah 52:1 “Awake, awake; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.”

Isaiah 60:18-20 “Violence shall no more be heard in thy land, wasting nor destruction within thy borders; but thou shalt call thy walls Salvation, and thy gates Praise. (v. 19) The sun shall be no more thy light by day; neither for brightness shall the moon give light unto thee: but the LORD shall be unto thee an everlasting light, and thy God thy glory. (v. 20) Thy sun shall no more go down; neither shall thy moon withdraw itself: for the LORD shall be thine everlasting light, and the days of thy mourning shall be ended.”

Isaiah 62:4 “Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land

shall be married.”

Isaiah 65:19 “And I will rejoice in Jerusalem, and joy in my people: and the voice of weeping shall be no more heard in her, nor the voice of crying.” (Millennial Reign)

IV. “NO MORE” HARM BY MAN

Luke 12:4 -5 “And I say unto you my friends, Be not afraid of them that kill the body, and after that have no more that they can do. (v. 5) But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after

he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.”

John 16:21 “A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.”

Revelations 3:12 “Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.”

Revelations 7:15 - 16 “Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. (v. 16) They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat.”

V. “NO MORE” DEATH

A. Revelations 21:4 - 5 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. (v. 5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.”

This will be one of the characteristics of that blessed state, that not a tear shall ever be shed there. How different will that be from the condition here — for who is there here who has not learned to weep? Albert Barnes

B. A Great Change Shall Take Place

I Corinthians 15:51 “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall

all be changed,”

1. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption.

2. It is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory.

3. It is sown in weakness, it is raised in power.

4. It is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.

C. There will be:

1. Worship 2. Singing 3. Light 4. Love

But there shall be “no more” death.

VI. A TIME OF “NO MORE” PREACHING AND TEACHING OF GOD’S WORD

Jeremiah 31:34 “And they shall teach no more every man his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

I Corinthians 13:8 “Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.”

VII. “NO MORE” REMEMBERING OF SIN

A. To enjoy the many things that I have talked about, you must be forgiven, you must be

born again. God will “no more” remember your sin.

1. Because of His Mercy.

Hebrews 8:12 “For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.”

2. Because of His Blood

Matthew 26:28 “For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many

for the remission of sins.”

Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of

sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

B. To live a life pleasing to God, there must be “No More” Sinning

1. John 5:14 “Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.”

2. John 8:11 “She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.”

3. Romans 6:9 - 12 “Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. (v. 10) For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. (v. 11) Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. (v. 12) Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey

it in the lusts thereof.”

VIII. THE LAST “NO MORE”

A. Currently The World Is Under A Curse

1. Genesis 2:17 “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”

2. Genesis 3:16 “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.”

3. Genesis 3:17-19 “And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; (v. 18) Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field; (v. 19) In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.”

B. When God Has Redeemed His People From The Earth, There Will Be “No More” Curse.

1. Revelations 22:3 “And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:”

2. This is doubtless designed to be in strong contrast with our present abode; and it is affirmed that what now properly comes under the name of a curse, or whatever is part of the curse pronounced on man by the fall, will be there unknown. The earth will be no more cursed, and will produce no more thorns and thistles; man will be no more compelled to earn his bread by the sweat of his brow; woman will be no more doomed to bear the sufferings which she does now; and the abodes of the blessed will be no more cursed by sickness, sorrow, tears, and death. A. Barnes

CONCLUSION

The last battle will be fought concerning dominion of Earth. God will devour the last of His enemies with fire: Rev. 20:9 “And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.”

In Heaven there will be NO MORE: Death - No more Graves - No more Temptations - Sickness - Fear - No more Night - No more Depression - No more Disappointments - No more Pain - Separations - Divorce - Betrayal - Aging - Disease - No more Bills to Pay - No more Loneliness - No more Hate - No more Devil - No more Bad Memories - No more Not Having Enough. How can we be sure there is a Heaven? - Because God says there is such a place. - There are 582 references to Heaven in the Bible in 550 different verses.

There is a LONGING in every person’s soul for Heaven. Whatever culture you come across, whatever time period in history, you will find some sort of belief in a life after death.

I don’t believe God would plant in the soul a universal longing like that without making some provision for it. There’s a FEELING in every person’s soul that there is a Heaven. Johnny Carver sermoncentral
