SUNDAY’S ON THE WAY

INTRO:

SUNDAY’S ON THE WAY!

Are you living in a NEVER-ENDING THURSDAY struggling to make it while your world seems to be falling apart?

Are you living in an ENDLESS FRIDAY watching your hopes and dreams slowly die?

Are you living in a DARK, DEPRESSED SATURDAY? Your will to live slipping away

INTRO: 2

HELLO, MY NAME IS PETER

It’s Thursday evening

and we were enjoying a private dinner with the JESUS. It should have been a great celebration, But Jesus kept talking about betrayal and death. WE couldn’t understand what he was getting at, then he broke the bread and told us it was his body. Then He passed the wine and said this is my blood. Everyone seemed depressed.

After dinner We went to the garden where Jesus liked to pray. It was a beautiful garden. We felt secure believing that if their master’s life were in danger He would have stayed at the upper room.

It was so dark as JESUS went to pray; we couldn’t stay awake.

Suddenly torches were everywhere, and a group of soldiers was coming, being led by Judas. I became angry and drew my sword and cut off someone’s ear. The LORD rebuked me and told me to put up the sword. The soldiers took JESUS prisoner and took him before the Sanhedrin

Fearful for my own live I ran away. After getting my nerve back I stood in the courtyard, I even denied knowing him.

IT’S NOW FRIDAY

The sentence has been passed, DEATH by crucifixion. I couldn’t stand to watch as he was ridiculed and beaten, So I ran away again. John told me all that happened at the cross, How Jesus ask GOD to forgive those that hurt Him, and how he hung his head and said it is FINISHED and died.

IT’S NOW SATURDAY

When Saturday morning came, We realized that JESUS was truly dead and all our dreams were crushed. All hope was gone, all I could remember was that I had denied Him. It was the WORST DAY OF MY LIFE.

THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SOMETHING HAPPENED:

1.THE STONE WAS ROLLED AWAY

2.THE TOMB WAS EMPTY

3. JESUS IS ALIVE

SUNDAY’S IS ON THE WAY !

THURSDAY

LUKE 22:14-23

The Lord’s Supper

14 When the time came for Jesus and the apostles to eat, 15 he said to them, “I have very much wanted to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer. 16 I tell you that I will not eat another Passover meal until it is finally eaten in God’s kingdom.”

17 Jesus took a cup of wine in his hands and gave thanks to God. Then he told the apostles, “Take this wine and share it with each other. 18 I tell you that I will not drink any more wine until God’s kingdom comes.”

19 Jesus took some bread in his hands and gave thanks for it. He broke the bread and handed it to his apostles. Then he said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Eat this as a way of remembering me!”

20 After the meal he took another cup of wine in his hands. Then he said, “This is my blood. It is poured out for you, and with it God makes his new agreement. 21 The one who will betray me is here at the table with me! 22 The Son of Man will die in the way that has been decided for him, but it will be terrible for the one who betrays him!”

23 Then the apostles started arguing about who would ever do such a thing.

LUKE 22:47-53

Jesus Is Arrested

47 While Jesus was still speaking, a crowd came up. It was led by Judas, one of the twelve apostles. He went over to Jesus and greeted him with a kiss.[h]

48 Jesus asked Judas, “Are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?”

49 When Jesus' disciples saw what was about to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we attack them with a sword?” 50 One of the disciples even struck at the high priest’s servant with his sword and cut off the servant’s right ear.

51 “Enough of that!” Jesus said. Then he touched the servant’s ear and healed it.

52 Jesus spoke to the chief priests, the temple police, and the leaders who had come to arrest him. He said, “Why do you come out with swords and clubs and treat me like a criminal? 53 I was with you every day in the temple, and you didn’t arrest me. But this is your time, and darkness[i] is in control.”

FRIDAY

JOHN 19:28-42

The Death of Jesus

28 Jesus knew that he had now finished his work. And in order to make the Scriptures come true, he said, “I am thirsty!” 29 A jar of cheap wine was there. Someone then soaked a sponge with the wine and held it up to Jesus' mouth on the stem of a hyssop plant. 30 After Jesus drank the wine, he said, “Everything is done!” He bowed his head and died.

A Spear Is Stuck in Jesus' Side

31 The next day would be both a Sabbath and the Passover. It was a special day for the Jewish people,[d] and they did not want the bodies to stay on the crosses during that day. So they asked Pilate to break the men’s legs[e] and take their bodies down. 32 The soldiers first broke the legs of the other two men who were nailed there. 33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, and they did not break his legs.

34 One of the soldiers stuck his spear into Jesus' side, and blood and water came out. 35 We know this is true, because it was told by someone who saw it happen. Now you can have faith too. 36 All this happened so that the Scriptures would come true, which say, “No bone of his body will be broken” 37 and, “They will see the one in whose side they stuck a spear.”

Jesus Is Buried

38 Joseph from Arimathea was one of Jesus' disciples. He had kept it secret though, because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders. But now he asked Pilate to let him have Jesus' body. Pilate gave him permission, and Joseph took it down from the cross.

39 Nicodemus also came with about seventy-five pounds of spices made from myrrh and aloes. This was the same Nicodemus who had visited Jesus one night.[f] 40 The two men wrapped the body in a linen cloth, together with the spices, which was how the Jewish people buried their dead. 41 In the place where Jesus had been nailed to a cross, there was a garden with a tomb that had never been used. 42 The tomb was nearby, and since it was the time to prepare for the Sabbath, they were in a hurry to put Jesus' body there.

SATURDAY

SUNDAY

JOHN 20:1- 10

Jesus Is Alive

20 On Sunday morning while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been rolled away from the entrance. 2 She ran to Simon Peter and to Jesus' favorite disciple and said, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb! We don’t know where they have put him.”

3 Peter and the other disciple started for the tomb. 4 They ran side by side, until the other disciple ran faster than Peter and got there first. 5 He bent over and saw the strips of linen cloth lying inside the tomb, but he did not go in.

6 When Simon Peter got there, he went into the tomb and saw the strips of cloth. 7 He also saw the piece of cloth that had been used to cover Jesus' face. It was rolled up and in a place by itself. 8 The disciple who got there first then went into the tomb, and when he saw it, he believed. 9 At that time Peter and the other disciple did not know that the Scriptures said Jesus would rise to life. 10 So the two of them went back to the other disciples.
