Topic: *AUTHORITY AND RESPECT*
1 Corinthians 11:2-3 King James Version (KJV)
2 Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.
3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
Each one of us who is a Christian has received directions or practices or doctrines among other things from a Man of God to follow or do to help us in our faith and to worship God as He desires.
Beloved, Paul was a man, a mere mortal who was chosen by God to deliver His messages and ways to His chosen people. Paul delivered what He received from God to the people.
The people of Corinth remembered Paul as a man sent by God to give them His Word. They didn't consider his humanity, the mistakes and errors he made to cause them to disregard his words and disobey the ways of God communicated to them.
Beloved the people considered Paul as a vessel of honour sent by God for His work so they hearkened to him and obeyed what He gave to them. They also acknowledged his authority as their head. Paul commended them for this
1. How do you consider or think of your Man of God?
2. How do you consider or obey the messages, words, directions, doctrines etc that he has passed on to you as he received from our Father in heaven?
Beloved your Man of God, as the name suggests is a man. A mere mortal, flesh and blood just like you are. He can err, he can make mistakes that you may never understand how or why, he is subject to the same temptations that come your way if not greater and just as you can fall and then go to God for forgiveness, he can also fall and go to God for forgiveness.
Therefore don't consider his humanity but the divinity that works through him because he has found favour and mercy in the eyes of our Father in heaven and He the Almighty and All knowing God has decided to use him as His chosen vessels of honour.
Anytime you remember him, remember him for the spiritual food he has fed you with or is feeding you with not for his offences against you or someone. Pray for him, for his attacks and challenges are many because of you. Show him mercy and don't crucify him but help him rise up always to the glory of God in Jesus name.
Listen beloved, there is always a hierarchy that God follows. This is his chain of command or authority as given out for His works and the manifestation of His glory:
That, God is the Almighty and the Authority that exists on His own and is God. The I am that I am. He has given authority to Jesus to be His next in command. So Jesus always refers to God as His Father and He does only what He sees Him do. God is therefore the Head of Jesus and in same manner Jesus has given this authority in a home to the husband. The wife is in no way equal in position or office to the husband. The husband is the head of the wife and Jesus is the head of the husband. Man didn't decide or determine this, God has made it so.
No matter how better a wife is physically or financially or in whatever way than her husband, the wife can never be head of the home or greater than the husband. Even if she is the breadwinner the husband is still the head of the home.
Jesus has made it so. He has appointed the husband as the head and the wife to be headed and she therefore needs to respect authority.
Listen, beloved if you are just in courtship this still applies until you break up and move on. If you break up and move on, same principle applies wherever you go. Don't disrespect your boyfriend therefore and say he is just my boyfriend otherwise in marriage you will do same and will lose your head as Jesus has given to you.
If you have a Master's Degree and are employed in a company as a Departmental Manager, then the CEO who is well experienced in his job appoints someone with a high school certificate as the Managing Director and informs the company about it and state clearly the MD will be directed by him and in all things he will be with the MD to deliver in the best interest of the company.
The MD stays an MD and is greater than you in the company. Your Master's Degree in no way places you ahead of the MD in the company. You will report to him, seek approvals from him etc. You may know better academically and advise him in anyway but he will be your head and your authority just because the CEO appointed him there.
In same way husbands or men are appointed to the position of authority as head of a home by Jesus so no matter what you do he remains your head. Be respectful and offer your advice and support him to run the home.
In same manner all men of God are heads of the ministries they belong to all other members must support them to run the ministries. You are never bigger or better than the Man of God who is your head and has authority over you.
Beloved, Jesus was the head of His ministry and had support that didn't challenge His authority but helped Him progress to fulfil His calling. As Christians let us do same and honour our Father in heaven. *IT'S ALL ABOUT JESUS* and no one else.
Prayer: Daddy please help us to have listening ears to listen to advice and also obey authority to the glory of your name. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
