Summary: Processing Jesus

Beloved this evening I want to preach on the holy and righteous God we serve Jesus Christ. Many people with in the world we live in today have the slightest idea who Jesus Christ really is, nor do they realize all He can do for them and because of that leaving them confused of His great might and power, but the bible beloved is the final authority and the word of God is a soul saving truth. It is because of the death of Jesus and the resurrection of His majesty that I stand here today in my right mind and full of joy. It is because of His grace and mercy that marriages become restored, families get redeemed and lives begin to be used for His glory and His glory alone.

Many know Jesus Christ as being the virgin birth of Mary and being ridiculed and mocked and ultimately dying on the cross for mankind, but many miss the truth of Jesus being alive today and being a comforter for the fragile, a restorer for the broken and a healer for the afflicted. Many miss the wonderful good news of the Gospel of Jesus being our hope and way of making heaven our home, and this evening we will go through scripture to help us understand a little more of who Jesus is, and what He wants to do for you and I and how He can help us be victorious in our lives as we walk with Him.

“The first miracle and Purpose”

Matthew 1:18-25 (New International Version, ©2010)

18 This is how the birth of Jesus the Messiah came about[a]: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be pregnant through the Holy Spirit. 19 Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet[b] did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20 But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21 She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins.” 22 All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23 “The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel”[d] (which means “God with us”). 24 When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

Beloved as we have read our scripture we first see that the prophecy that was of Isaiah was fulfilled through the virgin birth of Mary as it is said that she will give birth to the Savior of the world. The bible says that the reason for the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is to save the world of their sins and that is through the acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and not to forget the need to pray a prayer of repentance. Now as we see beloved in our scripture it reads that the angel of the Lord commands Joseph to give the child the name Jesus which means God with us.

John 1:1-5 (New King James Version)

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend[a] it.

Many who are not aware of a wonderful Savior that was sent to this sinful world to save a sinner from His / Her error will not be able to comprehend the glory of Jesus because they lack and will not understand the purpose of His coming and that was simply to die a shameful death for you and I to live a life of dignity.

John 1:14 (New King James Version)

14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

The bible says the word became flesh and we beheld His glory but were confused. Beloved if you do not know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior who is He to you? Many know Him as a good man, as a prophet and nothing more, some see Him as a revolutionist, as a leader, but I see Him as my personal Savior this evening. The light of the world, the only way to get to the Father in Heaven is through Him who is Jesus. The bible says the in the book of John:

John 14:5-7 (New King James Version)

5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. 7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”

No one can get to heaven without Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Beloved Christ wants you to make heaven your home this evening but the only way is through Him.

“He is more than just a Prophet”

Beloved this evening Christ is more than just a prophet, and this evening He wants to be more than just a mere thought in your mind, but He wants to be your healer, your redeemer, your comforter, your source of boldness, your strength and might, your joy and your Lord. Christ is and wants to be all this and more for you tonight. Christ is my redeemer and friend, my healer this evening He has been all these things to me and still is today, your bible and my bible is full of testimonies of the hand of God (who is Jesus in the flesh) moving on behalf of those who were bound, and broken and in need of deliverance.

Jesus cleansing a leper in the book of Matthew:

Matthew 8:1-3 (New King James Version)

1 When He had come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed Him. 2 And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”3 Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

To be a leper was to be cast out of your community and your family thus leaving you lonely without hope, desperate and waiting to die. Jesus saw the condition and the state of this leper and looked beyond His circumstance and said I am willing. Here we have a God and Savior with compassion and a willingness to help those who are in need of a miracle. Even this evening beloved Jesus wants to be your healer.

Jesus the Comforter:

Matthew 11:27-30 (New King James Version)

27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him. 28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

We need a comforter this evening we need a bosom to rest on in times of uncertainty and doubt, and Jesus has said in His holy word come to me those who are weary. Christ wants to be your comforter this evening if you allow Him to. He is the only one that can place a peace in your troubled soul.

Christ the restorer:

Even through the failures of our lives we have a God in heaven that has been compassionate and that has been patient with us to restore our lives through His wonderful grace and mercy.

John 21:15-16 (New King James Version)

15 So when they had eaten breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of Jonah,[a] do you love Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Feed My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of Jonah,[b] do you love Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love You.” He said to him, “Tend My sheep.”

Here we have Jesus speaking to Peter after Peter denied Him to the multitude. In Peter’s time of fear and uncertainty, doubt and unbelief he shouted I do not know who this Jesus is, swears and curses the name of Christ and even through this ordeal Christ restores Peter and shows him forgiveness. Beloved this evening through Jesus Christ you can be forgiven and accepted into His glory for it is His will for your life.

Jesus the Conqueror:

Luke 24:5-7 (New King James Version)

5 Then, as they were afraid and bowed their faces to the earth, they said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? 6 He is not here, but is risen! Remember how He spoke to you when He was still in Galilee, 7 saying, ‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.’”

The God whom you and I have read about thus far has defeated death and conquered it forever and through Him we could have eternal life. Before salvation I was walking dead. There was no life in me nor was there any hope for me and life as I knew it has left me high and dry. It was when I met with Christ as He touch a sinner on his way to hell did I understand that God was real and through His begotten son was how I was going to change my life. He defeated death and through Him I can do anything. Beloved this is what Christ wants to be for you.

He wants to be your healer, your deliverer, your comforter but He can only be these things if He is your Lord and Savior.
