Genesis 5:21-24
21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: 22 And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years:
24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

II. WALKING WITH GOD
a. Genesis 5:23-24: 23 And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: 24 And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.
b. What does it mean to walk with God like Enoch did?
1. SELFLESSNESS - 1 Corinthians 9:19-23: 19 For though I be free from all men, yet have I made myself servant unto all, that I might gain the more. 20 And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; 21 To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. 22 To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some. 23 And this I do for the gospel's sake, that I might be partaker thereof with you.
2. SERVICE – Jude 1:14 - And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
Is that all service is?
Romans 1:1 - Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God, (Doulos).
James 1:1 - James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
James had a reason to brag if he wanted to brag. The brother of Jesus Christ. He was stoned to death in Jerusalem around 62 A.D.
Yes, these are truly servants, but is that all there is to serving God? No!
We have servants right here at Dorcas Baptist Church. Preacher, Sunday School teachers, Secretary, Social Directors, Missions people, Maintenance People, Security People, Deacons etc. There is not one unimportant position in this church.
Hard work pays off! Recent VBS, Grounds, signs, remodeling of building, youth group. Support missions in India, Nigeria, China and the Alabama Baptist Children’s Home.
3. SACRIFICE - 2 Timothy 4:5-8: 5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. 6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. 7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
We may not be asked to sacrifice our lives like Paul (although I believe that time will be here soon), but we must make sacrifices for the Lord. Money matters, time, skills, etc. We may have to give up certain things to attend church, but God blesses sacrifice.
Some folks gave up all there time from Monday thru Friday night for our Vacation Bible School and as a result we had 20 young people saved. It took a lot of prayer to accomplish that!
4. SATISFACTION - Jeremiah 29:11 - For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
Sometimes I think Christians are too “results” oriented! We get discouraged when God doesn’t reward us for what we do. Or we get mad because someone doesn’t notice the things we do and pat us on the back. But the Bible says in 1 Corinthians 3:6 - I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

Why was Enoch so blessed of God? Why was he “translated” instead of suffering death like everyone else? Very simple answer in Hebrews 11:5 - By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.
It’s wonderful to have fellowship here at DBC. But it’s even more wonderful to have the testimony that Enoch had. “That he pleased God.”
