If there is one thing the Devil hates…it’s the blood of Jesus.

If it had not been for the blood of Christ, Satan would have conquered the world, but 1 John 4:4 is true today, and we can be victorious over him.

We should never underestimate the power of Satan. Ephesians 6:11; 2 Corinthians 4:3-4; 2 Corinthians 2:11.

Every great preacher who has ever lived and been used of God to bring men and women to salvation has made much of the blood of Christ.

In D. L. Moody’s early ministry, he received a letter stating, “If you are going to be effective, you are going to have to leave out the blood stuff.” He determined to preach more about the blood.

Billy Graham: a professor told him if he was going to be successful, “Leave out the blood. It’s out of date, an intelligent man won’t listen to it.” He didn’t listen and God has used him.

There are those who hate the blood of Christ.

1. The modernist hates it. They call it a slaughterhouse religion. No longer sing about the blood in their services, not even in the song book. They say it’s old fashion.

2. Satan has always hated the blood of Jesus Christ.

3. There is power, power, power in the wonder working blood of Jesus. And we need to preach more about it.

4. You can be wrong about many things, but you better not be wrong about the blood of Jesus. If you are, you are wrong about your salvation. Why did Jesus die?

5. I want us to notice 3 things this morning concerning the blood of Jesus.

I. The Prophecy of the Blood of Jesus in the Bible.

1. Someone has said if you cut the Bible in any place it would bleed. The teaching about the blood of Jesus is all through the Word of God.

2. Calvary, where the blood was shed, was not an after thought in the mind of God.

a. But was planned in eternity, before we knew time.

b. Before creation, God knew about Calvary. Revelation 13:8

3. Starting in the book of Genesis and ending in Revelation, God is teaching that there is no remission of sin without the shed blood of Jesus.

4. Cain and Abel. Genesis 4:3-4

a. Fruit of the ground, human works.

b. Kill a lamb, shedding of the blood.

5. After 2000 years, the need is still the same, remission of sins is still only by the blood.

6. Abraham. Genesis 22:13; Hebrews 11:17-19

The Bible is about the blood of Jesus and it is seen in all these types and figures.

7. Moses, the death angel is coming, and the blood is the only refuge.

a. When I see the blood, I will pass over you.

b. Imagine some saying, blood, that’s a little gory. I will place jewels on my door, make it look nice, but that would not work.

c. Another says, I will write a poem or pretty words. That won’t work either.

d. Another says, it’s the lamb that counts, we will just tie a lamb to the door. No need to kill it. But it is the blood that counts, nothing else. When I see the blood, I will pass over you.

8. Tabernacle sacrifices once a year on the day of atonement, they were to slay a perfect lamb, catch the blood, then sprinkle it upon the altar in the holy of holies.

b. Hebrews 9:11-14

9. Behold the Lamb of God. This is God’s Lamb. John 1:29

a. One man by himself purged us of our sin. Hebrews 10:10-24

10. Now, I want to make something very clear to all our liberal friends, Jesus did not die as a martyr and his blood spilt.

a. He poured out his blood of his own free will. John 10:18

b. His death was no accident. My how we ought to love the Lord Jesus today.

11. So then, this is the prophecy of the Blood.

II. The Power of the Blood.

1. Power of God. My friend without the blood of Jesus, God has no Power. 1 Corinthians 1:18; Romans 1:16

a. God can not work outside the blood of His Son. The blood is the basis on which God dealt with every soul.

b. The Blood = God’s Market Place

2. The Blood has power to cleanse. 1 John 1:7; Revelation 1:5

a. There is no sin that the blood can not cleanse.

b. What about the unpardonable sin? The man that has committed it will not ask God to forgive it.

c. Is there some sin you need to be forgiven of? Plead the Blood.

d. The song, “Redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb”,

3. The Blood has communing power. Ephesians 2:13

a. There was a time when we were afar off from God. But now we are made nigh. Hebrews 10:19.

b. Nigh means near.

c. There was a time when God and man walked close together and sin brought about the division, and only the blood can bring you near to God again. Isaiah 59:1-2

4. The Blood has conquering power. Revelation 12:11

a. Satan fears the blood of Jesus.

5. The Blood has comforting power. Colossians 1:20

a. Peace through the blood.

b. What a comfort to know your sins are under the blood.

c. My confidence about my sins and my salvation does not rest with me, but in the blood of Jesus Christ.

III. Last, What Place does the Blood have in Your Life?

1. By some, the blood is hated.

2. Trampled underfoot and counted an unholy thing by some. Hebrews 10:28-29.

a. Moses was told to place the blood on the lintel, the door post. No blood on the threshold.

b. They were to go out under the blood, and not over the blood.

c. Today you will leave this building either under the blood, or over the blood. Everyone.

3. There are those who laugh, and mock at the blood. 1 Corinthians 1:18; Acts 17:32.

a. You can laugh your way to hell, but you can not laugh your way out of hell.

4. What place does the cross have in your household?

a. Look at Pharaoh, his son questions his dad. Moses said this, but his dad says we will do this.

b. Now a Hebrew family, his son, let’s do it like Moses said. Peace at bad times.

c. The blood makes us safe.

5. What is the place of the blood in your life today?

Have you refused it, accepted it, rejected it, or trusted it?

6. The Bible teaches there is coming a time when Jesus Christ is coming back again and only those who have applied the blood to their soul will go with Him.

a. Matthew 25:10; 24:40-45

b. If you were to die before the coming of Jesus, the only thing that will make any difference is the blood of Jesus applied to your life.

c. 1 Corinthians 11:26

1) A picture of His death.

2) A promise of His return.

7. There is a Heaven…. There is a Hell……There is those in a Hurry.
