Summary: Knowing the Power that is in the Blood

Intro: As we look at this passage of scripture, we see that Jesus and his disciples are preparing for the Last Supper. While they are sitting there Jesus lifts up the cup and begins to enlighten and educate the brethren about the blood of the New Covenant and that his blood is adequate, suitable, and sufficient for whatever we need. Although in the days of old, they used different animals to try and meet the need, but the blood from the bulls, the doves, and the goat were not sufficient enough to handle the task the was at hand.

Although, the plasma, the body fluid, and the lifeblood of the animals were used for four thousand, these creatures had not met the greatest requirement of accomplishing that which was needed of the law. Jesus wanted the fellows to know that his blood is sufficient, his blood is what was needed; it was his blood that was required for the task at hand.

What he needed them to know is that his blood has healing power, his blood has saving power, and he wanted them to know that his blood could deliver them and set them free. He wanted them to know that his has Revitalization power, which means that he could renew, his blood is Therapeutic which means that he can relax you in a time of crisis, his blood has a Defense mechanism, which means that he can provide a security shield around you. His blood has a Relief valve so that when the pressures of life become build up, that’s when he would tell you to cast all of your care upon him. His blood has the power to Strengthen you when you are weak and to bring about Conversion, change and transformation.

How do you know Spies, I know because there is power, power wonder working power, in the precious blood of the Lamb of God. There is power to take away the sins of the world.

I know this because Ephesians 1:6-7 says “To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;”

I know because 1st John 1:7 says “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin”.

I know because 1st Peter 1:18-19 says “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: His Blood has the power to Redeem. So, I know that the blood, somebody say the blood. The blood of Jesus freed us from the curse of sin and death.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

When the blood of Jesus is applied in our lives it will make some of the meanest, most dreadful and most hateful sinners become transformed, and when they become transformed it will change their mind, their heart and their spirit. When the Blood is applied they will become transformed body, soul and spirit into a new creature formed in the image of God’s Holiness, and I don’t care how bad you’ve been God can change you. I don’t care how low you have stooped God can change you.

Saul was a murderer, that tried to destroy the church of the living God, and he had an encounter with the power of that blood and was forever transformed into “Paul, an apostle of Christ”

The thief on the cross had an encounter with the power of the blood of Jesus, and was transformed from that of a condemned man, into a saint waiting for the dwelling in Paradise.

There is not a soul so far gone that the power of the blood of Jesus cannot transform their sinful nature into the desire for the holiness of God.

That’s why Isaiah 1:18 says “Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool”.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life

Understand that Blood is our source of life; without it coursing through our veins life will cease in this physical body. You cannot survive without blood. Without the blood of Christ applied to our spirit & soul we are bound for the certainty of the second death

Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. But can I tell you that life, and that more abundant can be found in the power of His blood. How do you know Pastor? I know because John 10:10 says I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life

IV. His Blood Has The Power To Heal & Protect

Whenever a virus attacks our physical body and begins to make us sick, our blood begins to fight with all that it has, attacking this virus with white blood cells.

So, just like our blood ward off the attacks in our bodies, whenever the enemy rises up against you, the blood of our Lord and Savior covers us like a shield and just like the white cells that covers us in our bodies, so does the blood of Jesus covers us when the enemy tries to destroy us. The blood of our Lord Jesus repealed, cancelled out, revoked, and cast down everything that comes against us.

Why? Because there is wonder working power in the blood of the Lamb. I know that we might not know what wonder working power is. And that’s why we call it wonder working power. The fact of the matter is the reason that its wonder working is because the Lord has some ingredient in his blood that man can’t figure out, science can’t measure out and mathmatition can’t calculate out, because it’s wonder working.

When your body suffers an injury, a cut, your blood does this wonderful thing to protect you from infection so it forms a scab.

Many times in this life we live we suffer from different kind of attacks upon our spirit.

- A word that was said that cuts like a knife into the heart

- A selfish act that almost destroys you emotionally

- An attack from Satan that will try and pull you down

But this is when the blood of Jesus wraps around our Spirit and our Soul to protect and bring healing to the hurting issues of our lives. Yes the wound may be tinder for a while and may even leave a scare but the blood of Jesus is always at work in the middle of the hurts and the pains of our lives and it brings about protection and healing.

I. So not only does his blood redeem us but

II. His Blood has the Power to Transform

III. His Blood has The Power To Give Life

IV. His Blood Has The Power To Heal & Protect

V. His Blood has the Power to Deliver

It is the power of the blood of Jesus that breaks the yoke of bondage of sin off of our lives. So, whatever Satan has wrapped around your life that seems to be choking the very life out of you, just remember:

- The Blood of Christ can break that thang and set you free.

So, can I give you some good news this morning? Well here it is. His Blood is Still Powerful Today.

His Blood is still saving sinners; his blood is setting captive free today, and His Blood is still sufficient

I’m reminded of a court case in the Supreme Court between Humanity and Satan, I heard that proceedings took on a surprising turn, in the court room when Judge God read out the charges against the defendant (humanity).

And I heard that Sin was the main charge, with a list of violations being read out, some of the charges seemed minor and some seemed insignificant while others were major and extreme. The plaintiff that old devil laugh and smirked and was getting ready for his closing argument of damnation, and he was requesting for the death penalty on mankind.

But I heard that one last witness requested to take the stand to speak to the state.

It was then that the Judge inhaled and humanity looked surprised. Jesus took the stand and after being sworn in, to tell the Truth, the whole Truth and nothing but the Truth. He requested of Judge God too take the place and any punishment that might be assigned to humanity from the crimes that was committed.

Everyone in the courtroom sighed, humanity cried in disbelief and the plaintiff lost his grin and became angry.

After the Judge took a look at Articles 9 of Hebrews, subsection 12

through 14 that says, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us. For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh: How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

So, the judge God He accepted the life of Jesus in the place of humanity and what followed was the harshest sentence that was ever laid down on anyone: as the Judge read out the punishment for the crime all became quiet.

It is said that the Death penalty was imposed. No mitigating circumstances was offered or accepted. No mercy was forthcoming. He accepted His fate. He smiled. Love permeated from Him, the peace in the court room was beyond words yet the anger of the Judge was unspeakable, He turned away and would not look at him as he was being led away.

He was led away to Calvary where He would be executed with the other criminals.

The plaintiff smiled and waited for applause yet no congratulations were given. Humanity was free.

Justice had been served, Jesus took humanity’s place and the price has been paid by His precious blood once for all.

What a love, what a sacrifice, what a gift of life, I’m talking the

blood.

On the cross, they put thorns on his head. On the cross they nailed his hands, and they nailed his feet. On the cross they pierced him in the side, and the Blood came streaming down, and yes he died. But that’s not how the story ends. I heard that early one morning he got up and declared all power is in my hands. And my question to you this morning is have you experienced the wonder working power of the blood of the Lamb?

And because he died I can hear what Matthew penned as Jesus spoke these words just before he went to the cross, just before his crucifixion and just before his death. In Matthew 26:26-29, the Bible said “And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and brake it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body. And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins”.

Thank you Lord for dying for us; but also thank you for rising for us. Can somebody just shout hallelujah?
