Summary: A message about learning more about having a true relationship with the Lord in the times we live in.

The More you know............Part 1

Good Morning

Stand with me and lift up your bible and repeat after me.

This is my Bible.

I am what it says I am.

I can do what it says I can do.

I am going to learn how to be what it says I can be.

Today I will learn more of the word of God.

The indestructible, never ending, living word Of God.

I will never be the same.

I will never be the same.

In Jesus Name

The more you know, the less you don’t know.

Did you ever hear that?

As we go through life, we are overwhelmed by what we do daily. Aren’t we?

There is just not enough time some days.

The word ‘time’ appears in the New King James Bible 612 times and we still miss it.

Let me give you some examples;

Turn with me to Genesis 22:15 and say, “Amen” when you are there.

Gen 22:15 “Then the Angel of the LORD called to Abraham a second time out of heaven,”

God called Abraham twice.

Because He had a reason for calling Abraham.

He calls each of us.

Turn with me to Psalm 115:18 and say, “Amen” when you are there.

Psalm 115:18 But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and forevermore. Praise the LORD!

Forever more?

How can we praise God sometimes with all that is going on in our world today?

Kind of a hard habit to have with all that is going on in our personal lives.

Habits are good and bad and they change with the times.

The only thing we have in life is what we learn as we go.

Sometimes we get to the point in life where we don’t know enough.

I saw a show on TV a not too long ago that showed how things were changing in our world.

Two teenage boys were asked to do something that they had never done before. Before they saw what, they were going to be doing, they had to share about what they had accomplished in school and what they planned to be in life.

One young man said he had been studying different chemicals and the reactions that they caused. He was planning on being a chemical engineer for his career. He explained that he was graduating early from his high school early at age 17 and was attending college online right now.

The second boy explained that he was an accounting major and also was attending college early as he wanted to attain his master’s degree in finance before he was 21. He wanted to be able to manage an investment firm’s future planning and development to help their clients attain a high return on their investments safely.

They were led into a nice room and were asked to sit down and make a phone call on a phone from the 1960’s. It was a rotary phone and it took them about 15 minutes to actually figure out how to use it and make a call.

We may know and learn a lot but, we don’t know sometimes the basics of life.

Sometimes our life is so overwhelmed that we forget most of what we know and we cannot dial up our own life. We know so much that we don’t know what to do when it is important.

What is most important in our lives?

How do we handle the ups and downs of life?

Biblically it seems like it is all planned out.

Turn with me to Ecclesiastes Chapter 3 in the Old testament and say, “Amen” when you are there.

Let’s read together.

3:1 Ecclesiastes; To everything there is a season,

A time for every purpose under heaven:

3:2

A time to be born,

And a time to die;

A time to plant,

And a time to pluck what is planted;

3:3

A time to kill,

And a time to heal;

A time to break down,

And a time to build up;

3:4

A time to weep,

And a time to laugh;

A time to mourn,

And a time to dance;

3:5

A time to cast away stones,

And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace,

And a time to refrain from embracing

3:6

A time to gain,

And a time to lose;

A time to keep,

And a time to throw away;

3:7

A time to tear,

And a time to sew; A time to keep silence,

And a time to speak;

3:8

A time to love,

And a time to hate;

A time of war,

And a time of peace.

These are somewhat scary and wonderful.

But this is the world the we live in. We were given free will.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

He has made everything beautiful in its time.

The passages we have read are sharing about living life and as it goes on there will be ups and downs.

In our world today there may seem to be more downs than ups. Amen?

One of the problems that we face is the role of the media in our world today. The more interesting the news story and how it is presented is what is most important. The hard part is it mostly the bad that is shown not the good.

Can you imagine your TV or Satellite having a channel that is called the Good News?

Let me give you an example.

It has a news hour each day which is one hour of nothing but good news.

Recoveries from the virus

The birth of a set of twins by some average everyday lady that was unexpected.

A child that could never hear, being given an implant that allows it to hear its mother’s voice for the first time.

The reuniting of a brother and sister that were separated when they were much younger.

A young woman who cannot see, getting a degree from a major college.

A man receiving a heart transplant.

A family moving into a new home that the community has built after the home they had lived in had been devastated by a tornado.

A man who has had a life that had been torn apart by addiction becoming a college graduate to begin helping others overcome their habit.

I could go on and on. God does.

All the time.

Walking and living our lives here on the home we call earth is not easy.

We get so overwhelmed by it all that we forget the basics of why we were created by Him. For a purpose.

I have told this story before but I want to share it again because it may be part of what someone here may be thinking.

Charlie Brown had the opportunity to go to the beach one day by himself. He decided to build the ultimate sand castle and he did.

It took him most of the day. It had four towers, one in each corner of the castle. There were high walls and he even built a moat around the castle which would make it so that the only way into the castle was over the bridge he built.

He worked hard on it and when he finished, he stepped back and admired it. The water was getting closer as the tide rolled in and was filling the moat around the castle.

It was awesome.

Then something started happening.

The tide had started to change and waves were coming in so fast that the water was eating away at the base of the front wall of the castle. Before he knew it, the tide had ruined pretty much all of what he had worked so hard on.

He stood there and yelled out, “Why?”

The next day he told his friend Linus about it and Linus thought about it and said, “Next time, maybe you should see where the tide had come into before and build one where the water won’t touch it.”

Sometimes we just need to slow down and see all that the Lord has let us know about our lives and see what is most important.

Sometimes we need to just ask the Lord for His advice and listen.

You and I are probably not where we had wanted to be in life.

Some of did not expect to even be alive right now but God has had another plan.

Some of us are not really happy with life itself right now.

Things have not quite worked out like we had planned or hoped.

Some of us are amazed that we are even alive right now.

Things are in turmoil in our world.

But the more you know of Him, the easier the hills and valleys will be to handle.

Jesus is our hope and direction in our lives.

We can continue to walk along through the valleys and over the hills of life by ourselves or not.

I am a not guy who boasts but, because of what the Lord has done in and with my life, I am much happier than I ever expected to be.

We need to spend time in our lives thanking Him for what He has done and what He has gotten us through.

We need to remember that we know more than what we think and we have to learn how to use it for His Glory and for ourselves who He loves more than we can imagine.

Let’s go to the Lord in prayer.....
