Summary: Our sufficiency is in God, and from God. He is the provider of all things as we choose to trust in Him.

From the beginning of the book of Genesis we see God at work when He created the whole universe. And after creating everything God said it was good - (Genesis 1:1 - 31).

And in Genesis 1: 26 - 30 we can see that God created us in His own image and likeness, and blessed us. God is a God of love and loves us so much, His plan for us from the onset is to see us been blessed with all He created for us.

Remember in the garden of Eden, All Adam had to do was to tend to the garden and the LORD commanded him to eat from any tree in the garden except only from the tree that gave knowledge about the good and evil - (Genesis 2:1 - 17). Then God gave Adam a companion named Eve - (Genesis 2: 18 - 25). God had made everything available for them and they also enjoyed the presence of God any time He came down - (Genesis 3:8).

So we can see that our God is the great provider and as always been providing for us His children.

God is faithful and knows all our needs even before we have any need, because He is God all over the earth and sees all things - (Proverbs 15:3).

In John 3:16 God gave up His Only Begotten Son, so that we can be reconciled back to Him when our first parents fell. The love that God had for us is an unconditional love and He did not want to leave us in a fallen state, and this made Him send down His Son so that we can go back to the way we were with God. Having a relationship with Him and been able to fellowship with Him at all times.

In John 6:22 - 35

Jesus is the Bread from Heaven

On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone— however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks— when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. And when they found Him on the other side of the sea, they said to Him, “Rabbi, when did You come here?”

Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.”

Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?”

Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.”

Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”

Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.”

And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.

Believing in Jesus will not cause us to be hungry and thirsty, He said He is the bread from heaven and we should not labor for food that will perish but for food that endures forever. Earthly bread will go mold and decay but not Jesus who gives us life and an everlasting life as well.

In 2 Chronicles 20

We see Jehovah the provider blessing His children.

It happened after this that the people of Moab with the people of Ammon, and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat. Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, “A great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea, from Syria; and they are in Hazazon Tamar” (which is En Gedi). And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.

Then Jehoshaphat stood in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem, in the house of the Lord, before the new court, and said: “O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You? Are You not our God, who drove out the inhabitants of this land before Your people Israel, and gave it to the descendants of Abraham Your friend forever? And they dwell in it, and have built You a sanctuary in it for Your name, saying, ‘If disaster comes upon us—sword, judgment, pestilence, or famine—we will stand before this temple and in Your presence (for Your name is in this temple), and cry out to You in our affliction, and You will hear and save.’ And now, here are the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir—whom You would not let Israel invade when they came out of the land of Egypt, but they turned from them and did not destroy them— here they are, rewarding us by coming to throw us out of Your possession which You have given us to inherit. O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You.”

Now all Judah, with their little ones, their wives, and their children, stood before the Lord.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, in the midst of the assembly. And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. They will surely come up by the Ascent of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the brook before the Wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you, O Judah and Jerusalem!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground, and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem bowed before the Lord, worshiping the Lord. Then the Levites of the children of the Kohathites and of the children of the Korahites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with voices loud and high.

So they rose early in the morning and went out into the Wilderness of Tekoa; and as they went out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Hear me, O Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem: Believe in the Lord your God, and you shall be established; believe His prophets, and you shall prosper.” And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed those who should sing to the Lord, and who should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army and were saying:

“Praise the Lord,

For His mercy endures forever.”

Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much. And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day. Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies. So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the Lord. And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel. Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.

The enemies of Jehoshaphat were coming to attack him and immediately he went to inquire of the LORD and through the spirit of God, he was told that there was no need to do anything against the enemy. God said to him that the battle was His to fight and the second day as they were praising God, God sent an ambush against the enemy and the battle was won.

For three days Jehoshaphat and his people were collecting the spoils of their enemy. This is an amazing story, we are to let God fight our battles for us and also make every provision available to us. He is still the same God that provides out of His abundance.

In Matthew 14:13 - 21

We see Jesus feeding the 5000

When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food.”

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.”

And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.”

He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained. Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Jesus fed the people because He saw that they were hungry after been with Him for sometime. He knew that there was no food in that area and been full of compassion- love, His desire to feed them made Him ask His disciples to provide for the people to eat and the answer that they gave was that there is food but it was only five loaves and two fish.

Jesus took the five loaves and two fish, blessed and gave His disciples to give to the people to eat, everyone ate and were full. Jesus can bring an increase into the little we have. But we need to let Him know what we have with us and ask Him to help us with it.

And not only did Jesus feed the five thousand, He also fed the four thousand people who were with Him in Matthew 15: 29 - 39.

in 1 Kings 17: 2 - 16

We see God feeding Elijah through ravens.

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.”

So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

Elijah and the Widow

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”

So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a [a]jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”

So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.

God is the God of the universe and everything as been created by Him including the ravens that He commanded to feed his servant. He was fed by the ravens in the morning and evening and after sometime God told Him where to go and the LORD told him that He had commanded a widow to feed him there as well.

In times when we do not have anything, trusting in the God that provides will make sure we are blessed supernaturally and believing in Him to make a way for us, where there is no way - (Isaiah 43:16-19).

In John 2: 1 -11

We see Jesus turning water into wine.

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

On this beautiful day there was a wedding going on, but unfortunately the wine that was been used finished. Mary the mother of Jesus told Him about the situation, she must have been watching Jesus and knew within her that Jesus could do something about the situation. And Jesus been who He was, gave an instruction to the servants and the water in the waterpots became wine.

With Him all things are possible according to the book of Matthew 19:26. What we cannot do as humans is possible with our LORD. Like we have been saying, trusting in Him will always bring results and change our circumstances that will bring Him glory.

There are so many instances in the word of God from the book of Genesis to the book of Revelation of the LORD providing for His children. All we need to do is to ask Him and He said so in the book of Matthew 7: 7 - 8

"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened."

We are not to give up in our asking and when we do ask, we are to ask in faith and with thanksgiving believing that God is able to give us our hearts desire.

God will always help us in our time of need. All we are to do is to know that He is there for us as His children and that He loves us so much. A Father that loves us will also care for us.

Remain blessed always trusting Him as the Jehovah El Shaddai that provides for us - Genesis 17:1.
