Summary: God who is a good God as through His Son given us a better covenant.

God is a covenant keeping God and as manifested His will in our lives through the coming of Himself in the body of His Son Jesus Christ. He had to become man in other to understand man and reconcile us back to the Father. God from the beginning of time has always been a God that keeps His promises and is still keeping His promises up till now.

God is the Almighty God - Revelation 1:8, and we cannot begin to comprehend the mightiness of God, and the bible says so to us in Psalm 145:3.

God loves us that much He had to make a way for us to be reconciled back to Him, God is Love Himself and because of His love, He redeemed us from the hands of the enemy - Psalm 107:2. We are the redeemed ones.

In the book of Colossians 1:13 it says this:

He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love,

Another translation puts it this way:

For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.

This is what God as done for us, all because of His love and care for us has His children. we remember where God said to is in the book of Ephesians 1:3-6

Blessed and worthy of praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms in Christ, just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will— to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [His Son, Jesus Christ].

God blessed us with every spiritual blessing.

God chose us in his love in Christ.

God chose us to be holy.

God called us to be blameless in His sight.

God adopted us as His own children.

God blessed us with His grace and favor.

This is why God been God gave us His grace.

What is the biblical meaning of grace.?

Grace is Chesed in Greek meaning:

Deliverance from enemies, affliction or adversity.

Grace is enablement, daily guidance, forgiveness and preservation.

Grace is Charis:

It focuses on the provision of Salvation.

Jesus is God's grace.

Grace is believing in the finished work of Jesus Christ.

In this covenant of grace, God through the power of the Holy Spirit helps us to live a life that pleases God. The Christian life cannot do without the help of the Holy Spirit Jesus came to fulfil the law and did not come to destroy the law according to His word.

Matthew 5:17 - 20

Do not think that I came to do away with or undo the Law [of Moses] or the [writings of the] Prophets; I did not come to destroy but to fulfil. For I assure you and most solemnly say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke [of the pen] will pass from the Law until all things [which it foreshadows] are accomplished. So whoever breaks one of the least [important] of these commandments, and teaches others to do the same, will be called least [important] in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever practices and teaches them, he will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

For I say to you that unless your righteousness (uprightness, moral essence) is more than that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

In the easy to read translation it says this:

Jesus and the Old Testament Writings

Don’t think that I have come to destroy the Law of Moses or the teaching of the prophets. I have come not to destroy their teachings but to give full meaning to them. I assure you that nothing will disappear from the law until heaven and earth are gone. The law will not lose even the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter until it has all been done.

A person should obey every command in the law, even one that does not seem important. Whoever refuses to obey any command and teaches others not to obey it will be the least important in God’s kingdom. But whoever obeys the law and teaches others to obey it will be great in God’s kingdom. I tell you that you must do better than the teachers of the law and the Pharisees. If you are not more pleasing to God than they are, you will never enter God’s kingdom.

Jesus is simply saying to us that He came to show us the right way to be made right with God, and He came to show us an example of how to do this by coming to us as a man. Jesus from birth to when He was crucified on the cross lived a sinless life - 2 Corinthians 5:21 and because God is Holy we are to live a life of holiness - 1 Peter 1: 15 - 17 with the help of His Spirit that lives in us - 1 Corinthians 3:16; 1 Corinthians 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16.

Jesus said to us that we are to follow His example in the following scriptures:

1 Peter 2:21

For [as a believer] you have been called for this purpose, since Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you may follow in His footsteps.

John 8:12

Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.

Luke 9:23

Then Jesus said to all the people:

If any of you want to be my followers, you must forget about yourself. You must take up your cross each day and follow me.

1 John 2: 3 - 4

When we obey God, we are sure that we know him. But if we claim to know him and don’t obey him, we are lying and the truth isn’t in our hearts.

1 Corinthians 11:1

Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.

John 15:14

You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.

Looking at all this powerful scriptures from the word of God we are to obediently follow the example of Christ and live as He lived and this is where the covenant of grace comes in, to help us live in living a life that is pleasing to Him.

The grace of God comes from the Lord Himself and looking at all His covenant promises we can see that indeed we are under God's grace.

Now may the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Covenant of mercy

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 54:10

For the mountains shall depart

And the hills be removed,

But My kindness shall not depart from you,

Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,

Says the Lord, who has mercy on you.

Covenant of Healing

Proverbs 4: 20 - 23

My son, give attention to my words;

Incline your ear to my sayings.

Do not let them depart from your eyes;

Keep them in the midst of your heart;

For they are life to those who find them,

And health to all their flesh.

Keep your heart with all diligence,

For out of it spring the issues of life.

Psalm 103 :2-3

Bless the Lord, O my soul,

And forget not all His benefits:

Who forgives all your iniquities,

Who heals all your diseases.

Exodus 15:26

And said, If you diligently heed the voice of the Lord your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the Lord who heals you.

God in His mercy helps us to live in a covenant relationship with Him as long as we have His Son Jesus Christ in our lives as our Savior. God loves His Son so much that He will honor anyone that loves His Son and will also bless us as His children through His Son Jesus Christ.

We are in a blood covenant relationship with Jesus when He chose to die on the cross by shedding His blood for us all - Luke 22:20; Matthew 26:28; John 6: 55 - 59.

God is love and if we truly love Him we will surely keep to His commandments which is not burdensome according to 1 John 5: 2 - 4

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.

By faith and with the help of the Holt Spirit we can imitate Christ by following His example.

The covenant can only be broken if we live in sin, God Himself does not break covenant but we do by not following the example of Jesus, He lived a life free from sin and the bible says to us that God will not behold sin - Matthew 5:48; Deuteronomy 25:16 and Psalm 5:5.

It's only through this and not believing in His Son that the covenant can be broken in our lives but God in His unfailingly love will always bring us back to Him for He said He can never leave us nor forsake us - Hebrews 13:5. And also His love is an unconditional love - Jeremiah 31:3.

Living as Jesus lives will help us to love our neighbours as ourselves - Mark 12: 30 - 31.

The new covenant rests in what Jesus said by living in love towards others and in loving others we can fully obey the ten commandments - Exodus 20: 2 - 17 and Deuteronomy 5: 6 - 17.

Remain blessed as we all live under the covenant of His grace with the help of the Holy Spirit to His glory always. Amen.
