Summary: Jesus is the anointed one that came to set the captives free.

Jesus came here on earth as the anointed one that came to set the captives free from every lie of Satan who is the enemy of the children of God - 1 Peter 5:8.. And we are sons of God, through faith in Jesus the anointed one - Galatians 3:26.. This is why the word of God says to us that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son - John 3:16.

The world means the people and not the world itself in particular. For God to send His Son the anointed One into our lives is to prove to us that God loves and He cares for us all. God did not want us to remain in a dark place and wanted us to be free to know Him and to serve Him all the days of our lives. The priority of us all is to be about the kingdom of God and to be with Him when the time comes for us to be with Him.

Jesus' coming was prophesied in the Old testament in the book of Isaiah 11: 1 - 5

There shall come forth a Rod from the stem of Jesse,

And a Branch shall grow out of his roots.

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,

The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,

The Spirit of counsel and might,

The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

His delight is in the fear of the Lord,

And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes,

Nor decide by the hearing of His ears;

But with righteousness He shall judge the poor,

And decide with equity for the meek of the earth;

He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth,

And with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins,

And faithfulness the belt of His waist.

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Listen carefully, the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us).

2 Samuel 7:12 - 13

When your days are fulfilled and you lie down [in death] with your fathers (ancestors), I will raise up your descendant after you, who shall be born to you, and I will establish his kingdom. He [is the one who] shall build a house for My Name and My Presence, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.

Isaiah 9: 1 - 6

The Government of the Promised Son

Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed,

As when at first He lightly esteemed

The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,

And afterward more heavily oppressed her,

By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan,

In Galilee of the Gentiles.

The people who walked in darkness

Have seen a great light;

Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death,

Upon them a light has shined.

You have multiplied the nation

And increased its joy;

They rejoice before You

According to the joy of harvest,

As men rejoice when they divide the spoil.

For You have broken the yoke of his burden

And the staff of his shoulder,

The rod of his oppressor,

As in the day of Midian.

For every warrior’s sandal from the noisy battle,

And garments rolled in blood,

Will be used for burning and fuel of fire.

For unto us a Child is born,

Unto us a Son is given;

And the government will be upon His shoulder.

And His name will be called

Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Therefore, Jesus was presented to us in the new testament as the anointed one that came in obedience to His Father to help us all in our weaknesses. The anointing on Jesus came to destroy yokes of any kind in the life of all His children. Through His anointing we are free from the kingdom of darkness and brought into His own kingdom - Colossians 1:13.

Jesus the anointed one said in the book of John 3 that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. He came to give us all life in abundance and He wants us all to enjoy life and not to be in any form of bondage to this world that is full of evil.

Jesus the anointed one stands as our shepherd to help us all in everything that we need to do here on earth - John 10.

The scriptures records in the book of Acts 10:38:

How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

God's anointing was on Jesus and the anointing was so strong, that Jesus the anointed one went about healing all those who were been oppressed by the devil, and everywhere He went the captives were set free from every form of illnesses or diseases.

The anointing on Jesus caused Him to do only good to everyone that He met. And because of His love for people and choosing to know Him as our Lord and Saviour, we can be healed from every kind of illnesses and sorrow. Jesus the anointed one is able to help us in our time of pain and distress as we believe in Him as our anointed one that came to save mankind. And this is the love of God for us all.

Why is Jesus the anointed one?

Jesus is the anointed one.

Jesus the Messiah.

Jesus our deliverer, and He that empowers all Christians to be to carry out His works here on earth.

Jesus the anointed one is also called the chosen one.

In the book of Isaiah 61:1

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound.

And in Luke 4:18

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,

Because He has anointed Me

To preach the gospel to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To set at liberty those who are oppressed.

And in Psalm 45:7

You love righteousness and hate wickedness;

Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You

With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.

Jesus the anointed one came to demonstrate the power of His anointing through many signs and wonders in several scriptures. Jesus is fully God and fully man, and His divine nature made Him fit for the work of performing miracles when He was here on earth.

The first miracle

John 2: 1 - 11

Water Turned to Wine

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there. Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.”

His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. When the master of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

This beginning of signs Jesus did in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

John 4: 46 - 54

A Nobleman’s Son Healed

So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. Then Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”

The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”

Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!”

Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.

This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.

John 5: 1 - 15

A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda

After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, Bethesda, having five porches. In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water. For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”

The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.

And that day was the Sabbath. The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”

He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”

Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” But the one who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.

John 6: 16 - 24

Feeding of the 5000

Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.

Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”

One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”

Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.

John 6: 16 - 24

Jesus walking on water

Now when evening came, His disciples went down to the sea, got into the boat, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was already dark, and Jesus had not come to them. Then the sea arose because a great wind was blowing. So when they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and drawing near the boat; and they were afraid. But He said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” Then they willingly received Him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land where they were going.

The Bread from Heaven

On the following day, when the people who were standing on the other side of the sea saw that there was no other boat there, except that one which His disciples had entered, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with His disciples, but His disciples had gone away alone— however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks— when the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, nor His disciples, they also got into boats and came to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.

Jesus the anointed one before He died on the cross, cried out that it was finished! - John 19: 28 - 30 and gave up His spirit. I believe that He came and destroyed the power of Satan in our lives and we just need to believe in the finished work of Jesus Christ and rest in all His promises as our anointed one that has come to save us all.

Meaning of finished

To bring to an end.

Something that completes or perfects a required work.

What is finished in our lives?

The works of darkness is finished and we now belong to the kingdom of light - 1 Thessalonians 5:5.

Jesus the anointed one is alive and is still in heaven interceding for us all as His brothers and sisters - Romans 8:34. This is great for us all that we have Him praying for us in heaven, the reason that we have Jesus praying for us is simply because He understands our struggles according to Hebrews 4: 15 - 16.

Jesus as given us the Holy Spirit to help us live as He lived here on earth, remember that the bible records this promise, that he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him - 1 Corinthians 6:17 and the word also says that as Jesus is so are we in this world - 1 John 4:17. And in Him we live and move and have our being - Acts 17:28.

Because we belong to the Father we are in Christ, united with Him, we have His anointing upon us and through His anointing we can do all things through Him that strengthens us - Philippians 4:13.

The word of God also records this promise in 1 John 2:20

But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things.

The anointed one who is Jesus will teach us all things because He gave us His Spirit to abide in us forever, - John 14:26.

Through Jesus the anointed one it is also recorded that He that is in us is greater than he that is in the world - 1 John 4:4.

We need to embrace all this wonderful truths given to us by our Lord, the anointed one. In Him we are called the children of God - Ephesians 1:5.

Jesus the anointed one loves us so much and said to us in 2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

We have the anointing of Jesus in us and because of this we are not to live in fear of man or of circumstances that comes against us in our everyday life.

The power of God whose Son is the anointed one is at work in our lives and we are to trust that His anointing will see us through in this world that we are temporary living in.

In the book of Daniel 11:32 this is written "but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits". Because Jesus the anointed one is in us we are to always carry out exploits to His glory.

Remain blessed in the presence of the anointed one always. Amen
