Summary: People today are telling lies and blocking truth in such a way that it has spun our world into a whirlwind of confusion (Note: Taken from the "Day's of Praise" devotion and expanded into a sermon"

Psalms 43:3 (KJV) O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles.

People today are telling lies and blocking truth in such a way that it has spun our world into a whirlwind of confusion,

And it’s getting to the Point that the world as we knew it is now becoming unrecognizable

As I scan the news

I find it’s becoming more and more hostile to anyone who disagrees with them. Anyone that has a different opinion is marked and ridiculed.

I’m reminded of Smith Wigglesworth and how he would never even have a newspaper in his home because he said it was filled with lies.

You may think this extreme,

but I wonder if he understood things a little more clearly.

He said, “If I read the newspaper, I come out dirtier than I went in. If I read my Bible, I come out cleaner than I went in, and I like being clean!

This troubled world desperately needs light

to find the way out of its darkness

Without truth, the world cannot rightly plan its future.

But they can’t flock to any light

It must be God’s light and God’s truth,

It should not be these seductive lights of humanistic philosophies

It should not be the light of man’s fabrications.

Today this world is screaming for its own version of truth and light.

Do you remember when Jesus was brought up before pilot?

John 18:37-38 (KJV) Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice. 38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth?...

Pilate was no doubt confused by all the religions and philosophies that were clamoring for recognition in his day.

Pilate did not stay to get an answer

He is like millions today who do not honestly seek to know truth,

but they follow every wind of doctrine that comes along.

They follow anything that tickles their ears that makes them deliriously giddy in order to feel good in the moment.

Like the song: “Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies”.

But, “What is truth?”

Is He truth to you?

Have you faced reality in Him?

I tell you tonight, according to….

the Word of God,

the Holy Spirit

and God the Father…..Jesus is the truth!

And anyone who finds Him and obeys Him will know the truth

God has, already sent out His light and His truth,

but “men loved darkness rather than light” (John 3:19)

Remember Paul’s description to Timothy of the last day’s?...

2 Timothy 3:1 (KJV) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.

Paul listed a description that certainly fits today.

Then He said:

2 Timothy 3:7 (KJV) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Paul then warns:

2 Timothy 4:4 (KJV) And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

Although many today profess to be “ever learning,” yet they are

“never able to come to the knowledge of the truth”

and, in fact, “turn away their ears from the truth” (2 Timothy 3:7; 4:4).

What a dilemma!

This was true in David’s day when he penned psalm 43,

and it’s even more so in our day.

Although we surely have far more light and access to truth today than David ever had.

We now have, for example,

God’s complete written Word (Genesis through Revelation).

We now have,

The Holy Spirit dwelling in us…

Another psalmist had promised:

Psalms 119:105 (KJV) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Solomon had promised:

Proverbs 6:23 (KJV) For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life:

Smith Wigglesworth also said, “I find nothing in the Bible but holiness, and nothing in the world but worldliness. Therefore, if I live in the world, I will become worldly; on the other hand, if I live in the Bible, I will become holy.”

God’s truth surely is what we need

—in fact, it’s all we need

—for our faith as we look to our future.

This also is revealed in the light of His Word,

both His inspired written Word

and His incarnate living Word-Jesus.

The Lord Jesus not only claimed

John 14:6 (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

“I am...the truth” (John 14:6),

He also prayed for us, saying:

John 17:17 (KJV) Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

And for all who believe His revealed truth:

2 Corinthians 4:6 (KJV) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

One more quote from Smith Wigglesworth, “I am not moved by what I see. I am not moved by what I feel. I am moved only buy what I believe.”

As I said earlier;

“What is truth?”

Is He truth to you?

Have you faced reality in Him?

Jesus is the truth!

And anyone who finds Him and obeys Him will know the truth!

Our goal, our mission tonight, is to be truth seekers.

This is not a cliché or should it ever become a bumper sticker mentality.

We need to become Berean’s.

We need to search the Scriptures and see if these things are so.

We need to do this even more because of the times we are living.

Jesus is coming back.

We need to be ready.

The rapture is at the door.

Listen for the trumpet sound and keep your eyes and ears in His Word of truth.
