Summary: Jesus in His death brought us a new life.

We have a new life in Christ when He came here on earth to redeem us from the hands of our adversary - Satan who is also known as Lucifer. The plan of God when our first Father fell had to come to being immediately because of the love God had for us His children.

God did not desire to leave us in darkness and He had to set up a plan of redemption which He had on His mind even before the fell happened. The faithfulness of God towards us His children is awesome and powerful, God did not want His children to be in bondage and this is because of His love for us all.

Colossians 1:13

For He has rescued us and has drawn us to Himself from the dominion of darkness, and has transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son,

When man fell, the plan of redemption had to be put in place so that we can be free from the sin of Adam. when Adam fell it automatically affected us as well, the reason been that we were all in Adam and God could not leave us in that darkness that Adam through his sin had put us. God saw the future of man because He is our creator, and in His love and compassion decided to redeem us all.

The coming of Jesus had to be put in place and He came through a supernatural way - Matthew 1: 18 - 25

Matthew 1: 18 - 25

Conception and Birth of Jesus

Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been [a]betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by [the power of] the Holy Spirit. And Joseph her [promised] husband, being a just and righteous man and not wanting to expose her publicly to shame, planned to send her away and divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife, for the Child who has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation), for He will save His people from their sins.” All this happened in order to fulfill what the Lord had spoken through the prophet [Isaiah]: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child and give birth to a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel”—which, when translated, means, “God with us.” Then Joseph awoke from his sleep and did as the angel of the Lord had commanded him, and he took Mary [to his home] as his wife, but he kept her a virgin until she had given birth to a Son [her firstborn child]; and he named Him Jesus (The Lord is salvation).

The coming of Jesus changed everything for us and set us free from the plans of Satan to put us in darkness. Satan did not want us to be free from Him and His wickedness, but to remain in that darkness where He resides and God in His love for mankind came through His Son to make sure that we are not left in darkness - Mark 1:10; John 1: 32 - 33; John 6: 38.

We thank God for coming down to save us through His Son Jesus Christ and brought us a new life in the plan of redemption, The new covenant -

Jeremiah 31: 27 - 34

A New Covenant

“Behold (listen carefully), the days are coming,” says the Lord, “when I will sow the house of Israel and the house of Judah with the seed of man and with the seed of beast. It will be that as I have watched over them to uproot and to break down, to overthrow, destroy, and afflict with disaster, so I will watch over them to build and to plant [with good],” says the Lord.

“In those days they will not say again,

‘The fathers have eaten sour grapes,

And the children’s teeth are set on edge.’

But everyone will die [only] for his own wickedness; every man who eats sour grapes—his [own] teeth shall be set on edge.

Behold, the days are coming,” says the Lord, “when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel (the Northern Kingdom) and with the house of Judah (the Southern Kingdom), not like the covenant which I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, although I was a husband to them,” says the Lord. “But this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days,” says the Lord, “I will put My law within them, and I will write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they will be My people. And each man will no longer teach his neighbor and his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me [through personal experience], from the least of them to the greatest,” says the Lord. “For I will forgive their wickedness, and I will no longer remember their sin.”

This was God's plan of redemption and after the fall, He brought it forth through Jesus' coming.

The new covenant was established through Jesus in Mark 14: 22 - 26

While they were eating, Jesus took bread and blessed it [giving thanks and praise], and He broke it, and gave it to them and said, “Take it. This is My body.” And when He had taken a cup [of wine] and given thanks, He gave it to them, and they all drank from it. And He said to them, “This is My blood of the [new] covenant, [My blood] which is being poured out for many [for the forgiveness of sins]. I assure you and most solemnly say to you, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God.”

After they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.

The blood of Jesus that was shed on the cross gave us a new relationship with God and the new covenant was started after Jesus died on the cross and said it is finished!

John 19: 28 - 30

After this, Jesus, knowing that all was now finished, said in fulfillment of the Scripture, “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was placed there; so they put a sponge soaked in the sour wine on [a branch of] hyssop and held it to His mouth. When Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and [voluntarily] gave up His spirit.

That statement that Jesus said "It is finished" before giving up His breath closed up the old covenant and brought us a new covenant in His blood.

The old has gone and the new came into being.

Hebrews 8: 7 - 11

A New Covenant

For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no occasion for a second one or an attempt to institute another one [the new covenant]. However, God finds fault with them [showing its inadequacy] when He says,

“Behold, the days will come, says the Lord,

When I will make and ratify a new covenant

With the house of Israel and with the house of Judah;

Not like the covenant that I made with their fathers

On the day when I took them by the hand

To lead them out of the land of Egypt;

For they did not abide in My covenant,

And so I withdrew My favor and disregarded them, says the Lord.

“For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel

After those days, says the Lord:

I will imprint My laws upon their minds [even upon their innermost thoughts and understanding],

And engrave them upon their hearts [effecting their regeneration].

And I will be their God,

And they shall be My people.

“And it will not be [necessary] for each one to teach his fellow citizen,

Or each one his brother, saying, ‘Know [by experience, have knowledge of] the Lord,’

For all will know [Me by experience and have knowledge of] Me,

From the least to the greatest of them.

“For I will be merciful and gracious toward their wickedness,

And I will remember their sins no more.”

When God speaks of “A new covenant,” He makes the first one obsolete. And whatever is becoming obsolete (out of use, annulled) and growing old is ready to disappear.

God in His mercy had to do away with the old and brought us a new covenant in His Son and the benefits of this covenant is for those that have Jesus in their lives and believe in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.

The benefits of the new covenant.

God said in this new covenant He himself will do this

- God Himself will put His laws in our mind

- God Himself will write his laws on our hearts.

- God will be our God.

- And we shall be His people.

- We shall be taught by God Himself in this new covenant

- We will know the Lord through Him.

Scriptures on the new covenant

2 Corinthians 3:6

Who also made us sufficient as ministers of the new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Romans 7:6

But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.

Matthew 26:28

For this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

1 Corinthians 11:25

In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.

In this new covenant we have a Father that created us to fellowship with Him and we can call Him by his name "Abba Father" - Mark 14:36 ; Romans 8:15 ;Galatians 4:6. This new covenant was all about God wanting to save us and He did in his Son, Jesus came and obeyed His Father which made a way for us back into a relationship with the Father, which the Father wanted from the beginning. Remember that God would come down and fellowship with Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden - Genesis 3:8.

Because God Himself set up the new covenant whi.ch is also a covenant of grace, this enables us to obey God and live to please Him as our Abba Father. The word of God says in 1 Samuel 15:22 that obedience is better than sacrifice.

To obey God is to live according to his will and this comes with the help of the Holy Spirit whom Jesus sent to help us in our weaknesses,- John 14:16.

The Holy Spirit is our Advocate John 14:26, Counsellor John 14: 26 - 28 and Helper John 14: 26 - 31 who is willing to help us in this new covenant. And wherever we are weak and need His strength, He is always ready to do so.

The new covenant was established on a better promise - Hebrews 8: 6 - 8 and it comes with the blessing of Abraham. The bible says that we receive the same blessing as Abraham in Galatians 3:14.

What are the seven blessings of Abraham

- I will make you a great nation

- I will bless you

- I will make you a great name

- You will be a blessing

- I will bless those who bless you

- I will curse those who curse you

- In you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.

We are the children of God and are blessed to be in this new covenant that God established in His Son Jesus Christ.

Remain blessed
