Strike the king
2 Samuel 17:2”.. I will strike down the king alone..”
The devil is not interested in the frills, trivial and significant pieces, he wants to capture the HEAD, so that everything else crumples! Sit up for a powerful word!
Let’s use the following outline:
Lions attack their prey one at a time, they target their prey and go for it with full vigor! That’s exactly how the enemy would chase you, be warned.
Look at the way the attack is planned: Ahithophel, who is said to have been a close counselor and right hand man of king David said to Absalom,
• "Please let me choose 12,000 men that I may arise and pursue David tonight.
The enemy takes the onus of selecting the best army for the attack, I just noticed the words ‘let me choose, I may arise..’ me and I’ showed the dexterity with which the attack is planned, the enemy was taking personal responsibility for the attack, this is why God warned us, 1 Peter 5:8”Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” Moreover, he was doing it with urgency and not postponing it for the next day (like many Christians do), Ahithophel said ‘I will pursue David tonight.
Attack when you are tired and depleted of energy:
• "I will come upon him while he is weary and exhausted and terrify him
The devil planned to attack David hard when he was emotionally, physically and mentally very weak and ill. His own son Absalom was after his blood, his close counselor Ahithophel was on his son’s side and plotting to kill him. David was walking through the valley of darkness; however, his God has not left him.
The devil will want to isolate you:
• all the people who are with him will flee.
The most important tactic of the enemy is to isolate the target and hit him hard. One particular lady, her name is Hannah, mother of my student who volunteered to help me in school during this lockdown days . Things were so smooth and wonderful that I was over joyed but one day I got the news that she was terribly sick with leg pain, unable to even walk or get up. Ah! How sad, even until this day as I write this article, she is bedridden, I am praying for her, yes, I feel helpless and lost without her. The devil targets the BEST worker in your office, team,your assistants, your ministry volunteers, your team, your helpers and everyone connected with you, what are you doing to protect your family ? Pray hard. Beware!
The devil is after the LEADER:
• I will strike down the king alone,
The last statement is eerie! You may wonder: why am I pursued and attacked left, right and centre? Because you have stuff inside you, say Amen. Because you are an effective leader, because you are anointed, because you are prayerful, because you have great potential, because you are a good father, did you get it?
The end of the story is awesome because God not only kills the plan against David but He also kills the one who planned, yes Ahithophel died by hanging himself. Stay calm and trust God to protect you!
