“God’s Got This”

By

Bishop Melvin L. Maughmer, Jr.

OPENING: - So many times when situations arise especially when they arise for someone else, we are quick to try to give words of encouragement. If a person is depressed, we will often say cheer up God’s got this. If they are facing a sickness or illness, we will say we know God is a healer and God’s got this. During times of bereavement, we will try to encourage people and say God never makes a mistake and God’s got this. Many times, we use this phrase acting like it is the catch all fix all statement, we will tell that to everyone and every situation and unfortunately that is not true according to the Bible. Ephesians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ”. Understand there is no spiritual blessing left outside of Jesus Christ no spiritual blessings may be received outside of Christ. Now someone may say but what about Matthew 5:45 which says, “That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust”. Understand that there are natural and physical blessing that everyone receives because of the love of God and that is what Matthew 5:45 is talking about.

Then there is spiritual blessing that only apply to those that are in Christ Jesus, these are spiritual blessings. They are offered to everyone but only those that are in Christ Jesus are able to receive these blessings. 1 Corinthians 2:14 says, “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned”.

Understand there is a standard of holiness and unless that standard of holiness is met then certain blessings will not pertain to everyone. Ephesians 4:17-19 states how those that are in Christ must act and how those outside of Christ act it says, “This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind, Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart: Who being past feeling have given themselves over unto lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness”. Romans 8:9 says “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his”.

Today I want to look at the statement God’s got THIS and ask this question? So, when we say God’s got This what is THIS that God’s got.

PRAYER: -

SCRIPTURE: - ISAIAH 41:8-13 “But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend. Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away. Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee”.

We must understand who & whose we are!

Isaiah 41:8 says, “But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend”. But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen - Here God is talking to Israel the physical nation of people. Then He makes a prophetic and eternal statement - the seed of Abraham my friend.

Who is the Seed of Abraham? Now notice that word seed is singular there is no (s) at the end of it. So, who is this seed of Abraham? Remember the Old Testament is the New Testament hid and the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed, so let’s go to the New Testament for revelation. Galatians 3:16 says. “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy Seed, which is Christ”. The Bible here reveals to us in no uncertain terms that the promises made to Abraham were in the first place made to Christ, who is called the Seed of Abraham.

So, Jesus Christ is the seed of Abraham. Now let’s go down a few verses to Galatians 3:29 which says, “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise”.

Isaiah 41:9 says, “Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away”. God is speaking not only to the nation of Israel, but God prophetically and eternally is speaking to the New Testament believers who are His elect, taken out of all nations and kindreds and tongues from the ends of the earth. Those that confess with their mouth and believe with their hearts, who repent and are baptized in Jesus’ name for the remission of sins and have received the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”. This verse is the meat of this message and when you understand it and when you are in the proper position then you are able to truly say God’s got THIS. God starts out here with “Fear thou not”. 365 times in the Bible the phrase Fear not or Fear thou not appears. Someone said that is 1 for every day of the year. So, we don’t have to be afraid of anything because God said Fear thou not. Then He goes on to say for “I am with thee: be not dismayed: for I am thy God I will strengthen thee; yea I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness”. The words Thee, Thou, Thy and Ye are always singular and personal. So when we read this verse we understand that that God is talking and dealing directly with me, it’s personal. Now when we say God’s got THIS we understand that God’s got ME, I am the THIS.

Yes, God is omnipotent, omniscience, omnipresent, yes, he has the whole world in His hand, yes nothing is impossible for Him, Yes He can turn the situation around, Yes He can heal, Yes He can do it, but God’s got THIS (ME). That’s why Job was able to say, “Though he slay me yet will I trust Him”. Because He’s got (ME) THIS. That’s why the 3 Hebrew boys were able to say in Daniel 3:18 “But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden statue you have set up” because God’s got this. The situation may not seem favorable, the circumstance may be stacked against you, the outcome may not even be what you thought, but God’s got THIS. Jesus said in John 10:29 “My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand”.

WATCH THIS;- then He goes on to say still in verse 10 “I will strengthen thee” the Hebrew word for Strengthen is “Chazaq” pronounced Ka-zoc means to fortify. It is spelled in Hebrew Chet Zayin Qoof. When you look at the pictograph Chet is a fence it represents an inner place a sanctuary a place of safety. Zayin is a harvesting tool which means to prune or cut off to get rid of the weak stuff. Qoof is represented by the number 100 – 100 represents the Holy Flock. So, when He says He will strengthen thee because I am in Christ and I am a member of the Holy Flock, He will cut off everything that is weak and protect me and fortify me.

“yea I will help thee”. The word help in Hebrew is 'Azar and means to protect, aid, help, succor, support, give material or nonmaterial encouragement. Azar often refers to running to the aid of one who cries out for help to run to and so to run to support, to go to the aid of, to help or relieve when in difficulty, want or distress; to assist and deliver front suffering; as, to succor a besieged city; to succor prisoners.

Then He says I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Understanding the word righteous is important to getting the full meaning of this statement. Our immediate thought will be that of good. While that is true the real meaning implies justice – the full spectrum of honesty, integrity, morality, and accountability. Righteous relates to the concept of God’s holiness, which makes His righteousness perfect and complete. The word righteousness carries with it the implication of having judged and found righteous. It is the measure of God’s completeness and of His perfect justice. In God, righteousness manifests as the perfect balance, the perfect unity of judgement and mercy, the perfect expression of absolute power and absolute love.

The right hand epitomizes the perfect righteousness of God which is illustrated throughout the Bible – around 166 times, depending on which version is used. This is the spiritual power of God to defend, protect, deliver, and avenge. It has nothing at all to do with physical strength and everything to do with our spiritual condition. When God reaches out His right hand to His people, it is always with surety that all things are possible. It empowers us to stand when we should fall, to keep on when we would want to give up, to hold fast in the midst of trials and tribulation.

Gods got THIS!

WATCH THIS: -

Isaiah 41:11-14 “Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish. Everyone and everything that comes against you God will make ashamed and confounded. Ashamed - embarrassed or guilty because of one's actions. Confounded – confused and perplexed they will look at you and wonder how after they have plotted and schemed against you.

Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought. When you look for them, they will not even be around because WHY Gods got THIS.

For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee. God said He will hold thy right hand. The right hand with His right hand causes you look into His face spiritually.

Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel”.
