Summary: You live in a footstool world. The earth is just a footstool. It isn't the place on which you can rest all your weight or your well-being.

A FootStool World; A Throne Room God.

Isaiah 66:1-2NLT

Isaiah 66:1-2NLT This is what the Lord says:“Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place? My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the Lord, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word.”

Stephen one of the twelve men picked by Jesus’ disciples to wait on tables, help widows and orphans (Right before being stoned states),

Acts 7:49AMP ‘Heaven is My throne, And the earth is the footstool for My feet; What kind of house will you build for Me?’ says the Lord, ‘Or what place is there for My rest?

The question, “What kind of house will you build for Me?”

* This morning I point to your attention a chair.

In front of the chair is a foot-stool.

You might ask, “What’s today’s mystery? What’s todays word?”

It’s the Foot Stool!

Within that footstool lies a cosmic revelation. Cosmic enough to be spoken of by God.

Again God states, “The earth is My footstool.”

What does that mean? The earth is the place where He (God), places His feet.

Remember God states, Heaven is My throne, My dwelling place, Heaven is the center of His presence, and where He rest his weight.

Hear John’s depiction of Jesus:

Revelation 1:12-17TPT When I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, I saw seven golden lamp stands. 13And walking among the lamp stands, I saw someone like a son of man, wearing a full-length robe with a golden sash over his chest. 14 His head and his hair were white like wool—white as glistening snow. And his eyes were like flames of fire! 15His feet were gleaming like bright metal, as though they were glowing in a fire, and his voice was like the roar of many rushing waters. 16In his right hand he held seven stars, and out of his mouth was a sharp, double-edged sword. And his face was shining like the brightness of the blinding sun! 17When I saw him, I fell down at his feet as good as dead, but he laid his right hand on me and I heard his reassuring voice saying:“Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. 18 I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hell and of Death.”

God is the Master Creator everything pales in comparison. He’s great, He is Lord. His only begotten Son will soon show His full strength!

Revelation 1, points out that Jesus holds His stars, His ministers; He also lives in the mist of His churches.

Again, Heaven is the place where He rest His weight. The word for ‘weight’ in Hebrew is, ‘Kavode.’ ‘Kavode,’ also means glory. Heaven is the place in which God rest His weight and glory.

Picture of our present day Jesus: (A picture of King Jesus on His throne).

The word “Throne” can mean a literal throne; as in the seat of a king. Or it can mean the central power of supreme authority and sovereignty. Both definitions fit here. The word ‘throne’ is used, 13 times in chapter 4 alone and 40 times in the Book of Revelation.

The throne is not in a palace or castle. The throne is in a temple and it is associated with worship

And the earth? The earth is not His throne. So the earth can't bear the weight of His glory. But it's His footstool.

So He rests His feet on the footstool. The earth bears the imprint of Jesus’ feet, but never His full weight.

And what does that reveal?

You live in a footstool world. The earth is just a footstool. It isn't the place on which you can rest all your weight or your well-being.

If you do, you will be disappointed, maybe even become bitter.

The Apostles Paul states in, Romans 8:3-4TPT For God achieved what the law was unable to accomplish, because the law was limited by the weakness of human nature. (The law is man-made). Yet God sent us his Son in human form to identify with human weakness. Clothed with humanity, God’s Son gave his body to be the sin-offering so that God could once and for all condemn the guilt and power of sin. 4 So now every righteous requirement of the law can be fulfilled through the Anointed One living his life in us. And we are free to live, not according to our flesh, but by the dynamic power of the Holy Spirit!

What is the Holy Spirit producing?

The Holy Spirit produces gifts, fruit and callings. The Holy Spirit is to be your- comforter, your teacher, your helper, your advocate, and He brings things to your remembrance.

The Holy Spirit convicts. He brings righteousness with Him.

In return, the Holy Spirt gives grace and love. Listen, the Holy Spirt is assigned to you until Jesus returns on the clouds to promote His church.

Remember, the church is called, “the Bride of Christ!” Jesus Himself keeps His bride spotless. When God looks at you, He sees His Son’s blood! When received by faith, this blood forgives past, present and future sin.

I might seem like I am trivializing our present dilemmas. However, The world possessions are only footstool-possessions.

Its issues, are only footstool issues. Its problems, are only footstool problems. And its glory, is only a footstool glory.

“You think you’ve experienced God’s presence. -Just wait.” P.H

You don't sit on a footstool; you just place your feet on top of it… On top of its problems, on top of its issues, on top of its glories.

You rest your feet on it… Lightly. That's the way one must live in a footstool world.

Jesus states in, John 16:33TPT And everything I’ve taught you is so that the peace which is in Me will be in you and will give you great confidence as you rest in Me. For in this unbelieving world you will experience trouble and sorrows, but you must be courageous, for I have conquered the world!”

You could say John 16:33b In this footstool world, this unbelieving world, you will experience trouble and sorrows.

Always remember Jesus’ last words in John 16:33b, one translation states, “Be of good cheer, or “pull up your spirit,” because I have overcome the world!”

The Apostle Paul states this about a footstool world:

Ephesians 2:6TPT He raised us up with Christ the exalted One, and we ascended with him into the glorious perfection and authority of the heavenly realm, for we are now co-seated as one with Christ!

So then where do you rest your weight? In the heavenly’s!

Colossians 3:1TPT Christ’s resurrection is your resurrection too. This is why we are to yearn for all that is above, for that’s where Christ sits enthroned at the place of all power, honor, and authority!

Today, see the world and everything in it in a new way, as the footstool world, with only footstool answers, and live accordingly.

Jesus states in, Matthew 6:28-29TPT “And why would you worry about your clothing? Look at all the beautiful flowers of the field. They don’t work or toil, 29and yet not even Solomon in all his splendor was robed in beauty like one of these!

However, for now, Enjoy the footstool! But remember, You have footstool problems, in a footstool world.

Isaiah 66:1-2TM God’s Message: “Heaven’s my throne, earth is my footstool. What sort of house could you build for me? What holiday spot reserve for me? I made all this! I own all this!” God’s Decree. “But there is something I’m looking for: a person simple and plain, reverently responsive to what I say.

4 Take aways:

Relax, God’s on His throne.

The issues you face become God’s Issues. He the victor!

God owns it all! Stay humble and just believe.

Respond to God’s nods, His approval.

Benediction. Give your footstool problems, and your footstool worry, to a Throne-room Jesus!
