Summary: Luke 24:49NKJV Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” This word endued means, clothed, or robed with power from on high.

Getting Drunk In The Spirit.

Acts 2:14-21NKJV

A ship-wrecked man who managed to reach and uninhabited Island decided to protect himself against the elements and to safeguard the few possessions he had savaged by painstakingly building a little hut. Still, he constantly and prayerfully scanned the ocean for any approach of a rescue ship. Returning to his makeshift shelter one evening after a search for food, the man was shocked to see his hut was completely enveloped in flames. What a crushing disaster!

The next morning he woke to find a ship anchored off the island. When the captain stepped ashore, he said “We saw your smoke signal and came.”

“The disciples of Jesus were hurting, but soon Jesus would see their smoke. Their embers. -He would make a fire by sending us the Holy Spirit!” PH

The disciples remembered some of Jesus’ last before His ascension, Acts 1:11.

Luke 24:49NKJV Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

This word endued means, clothed, or robed with power from on high.

For 10 days, camped inside an upper-room in Jerusalem, 120 disciples of Jesus experienced the power and results of the Holy Spirit. These men and women experienced Jesus in His resurrected state. P.H

Acts 1:3NKJV  to whom He also presented Himself alive after His suffering by many infallible proofs, being seen by them during forty days and speaking of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God.

What does infallible proofs mean? Unmistakeable. By examples, gifts, and fruit that are undeniable. -Proof that can’t lie.

Jesus appeared to His apostles after His resurrection, He taught them the significance of His death and resurrection in relation to the kingdom of God.

Jesus lived, Matthew 6:9, Kingdom come, Will be done. -On earth as it is in heaven!

The teachings of Jesus would prepare His disciples to do and live as He did. Kingdom living is Father centered.

If you are pleasing Father, you are kingdom centered. Romans 14:17KJV “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Hear me, Salvation, plus the infilling of Holy Spirit is plentiful.

Acts 2:14-21NKJVB But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. 15 For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams. 18 And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy. 19 I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke. 20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. 21 And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.’

Just as Jesus’ disciples were confused after Jesus’ crucifixion, these men and women in Jerusalem, who weren’t privileged, or for some reason, didn’t obey Jesus’ command to tarry in Jerusalem in an upper room, felt confusion. When you’re not in the will of the Lord you’ll experience confusion! PH

Let’s look at these scriptures verse by verse: 7 powerful truths about getting drunk in the spirit.

So Peter filled to the brim with the Holy Spirit say’s in Acts 2:14...Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, heed my words.

1. Getting drunk in the spirit positions a person to listen to God’s word.

What kind of words did Peter give? OT words, Words straight out of the book of Joel. Alive words, proven words, active words, The very words given by God Himself, Moses, and Abraham, and this prophet, Joel. Hebrews 4:12 words.

Peter emphatically states, Acts 2:15 Let it be known that these men aren’t drunk, they’re not in the flesh, or doing something that is inferior to God.

These men and women are experiencing God's glory!

2. Getting drunk in the spirit, positions you as a candidate for God's glory.

This is outpouring more than likely made the Jewish Bible scholars remember, 2 Chronicles 7:1NIV When Solomon finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD filled the temple.

What is this glory? It’s God’s endorsement, His approval. When folks start joining the church, getting baptized, hungering for His gifts, His fruit, when people begin inviting others to church, you should know this is God’s glory!

After the resurrection, Jesus proceeded for the next 40-days to teach Kingdom living, post resurrection, because now Jesus’ disciples can experience the curse of sin broken or satisfied.

Acts 2:16KJV But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;

3. Getting drunk in the spirit positions you for- that. (You become a, this is that believer)!

Peter states, “This is that I’m telling you about and it can be read from Joel 2:28.”

Peter cries out, “this is that, this is that, this is that!”

I can hear Peter saying, The prophet Joel wrote this 720 B.C. -This is that!

Paul wrote in, Ephesians 5:18-20KJV And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; 19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Again, the worship you give positions you for- THAT! -This is that.

Acts 2:17MSG “In the Last Days,” God says,?“I will pour out my Spirit on every kind of people: Your sons will prophesy, also your daughters; Your young men will see visions,  your old men dream dreams. When the time comes, I’ll pour out my Spirit On those who serve me, men and women both, and they’ll prophesy.

4. Getting drunk in the spirit, Produces last day events... You become spiritually aware.

Participating in Holy Ghost services makes you an end-time believer!

Peter preaches, Everything has suddenly changed. The Holy Ghost has come!

* Young men prophesying, speaking a new word with boldness!

* Old men dreaming God dreams. Old men dreaming, proclaiming the future.

* The rich and poor alike, filled.

The old has passed, the new has come!

Acts 2:18TPT The Holy Spirit will come upon all my servants, men and women alike, and they will prophesy.

5. Getting drunk in the spirit produces in you a hunger for God words. The ground is level at the cross. Men and women alike!

You shall speak God- words. You shall live God- words, You shall do God- words.

God words, should stay on the forefront of everything you do and say.

Proverbs 18:21KJV Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.

You might not realize this, but when you speak God's word, you speak words that produce life. P.H

Acts 2:19TPT I will reveal startling signs and wonders in the sky above and mighty miracles on the earth below. Blood and fire and pillars of clouds will appear.

6. Getting drunk in the spirit, guards you against last day deceptions.

The greatest miracle is the salvation miracle. God states, mighty miracles will transpire. Peter writes,“In the last days.”

These are the days of deception, and sadly for the unbeliever deception only grows worse:

Matthew 24:3-4NIV As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?” 4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you.

As deception grows over truth, take heed Jesus is coming! PH

Acts 2:20TPT For the sun will be turned dark and the moon blood-red before that great and awesome appearance of the day of the Lord.

Again, deception will not overtake you, because before of this transpires, the true believer will be caught up in the clouds of the air to be with the Lord!

Acts 2:21TPT But everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

7. Getting drunk in the spirit, is a call to serve. It’s a call to salvation.

In the last days, salvation will be plentiful. Deception is great and growing, but mankind can still be saved!

Acts 2:21AMP ‘And it shall be that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord [invoking, adoring, and worshiping the Lord Jesus] shall be saved (rescued spiritually).’

-Benediction. Just the mention of the name of Jesus and mankind can be saved!
