Summary: Knowing that God has all power

In our lesson on today we get to see Jesus in action in many different aspects. First we get to see God become flesh, and if we look at John the first chapter it says “1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. ??5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John make it clear that Jesus is not just an ordinary man, but instead he is the Son of God, John shows us how he is He is clear that Jesus is more than the messiah, he’s more than the son of man, he’s more than a prophet, he shows that he is the absolute of invincible principle; he shows us that he is the word made flesh.

So He labors in this first chapter of St. John to clearly and divinity articulating the fact that Christ is God, the same God who step out on

nothing and said let there be something and it became what ever he said because he is that kind of God.

Now in chapter 2 we see Jesus in Cana of Galilee for the first time, and the bible says “And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there: 2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage. 3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. 4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come. 5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it. 6 And there were set there six water pots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece. 7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the water pots with water.

And they filled them up to the brim. The six waterpots were used both for drinking water and for the purifying and cleansing of the Jews, that is, the ceremonial and religious cleansing of the hands and utensils. When a Jew saw the water pots, he knew they were there both for satisfying his thirst and for his religious cleansing. Jesus used the water pots to show that He had the power.

To purify, cleanse, and satisfy men.

To create and produce whatever was necessary to cleanse and satisfy men.

8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. 9  When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom, 10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now. 11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him. Now this last verse is very important for you to remember because I’m coming back to it in a couple seconds.

This second chapter shows us that Jesus is meeting with individuals, he preaching to crowds, training his disciple’s and debating with the religious leaders. Because the message that he gave them, that he is, the Son of God receives some mix reaction. Some worship him, some were puzzled, some laugh at him, and there were some that shunned him, and what’s so funny is that there are some of those same reaction being displayed today. People don’t treat Jesus like who he says that he is.

Now chapter three deals directly with a religious leader by the name of Nicodemus chapter 3 says.1  There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. 8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. 9 Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be? 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things? 11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus gives this powerful information to Nicodemus and he just didn’t get it. Now I wonder why is it that some folks can’t get excited about kingdom news, and I use to get mad when folks didn’t get excited about kingdom manifestation, but what I realize is that if you are not kingdom minded then you can’t help to not know about kingdom things.

Now we said all of that to just to get you up to chapter 4 the A clause open up with Jesus meet a women at a well where he able to minister to all of her needs and she runs and tell everybody about a man that she has never seen before but he has the power to tell me every thing that I have done in my life.

In chapter 4 the B clause deals with all of the Samaritans that got saved after hearing what the women had to say about Jesus. Just imagine how wonderful it would be if everybody would get saved in your neighborhood after hearing about what God has done for you.

Now the C clause of this 4th chapter Jesus is preaching about how a man doesn’t have honor within his own country, how the people that you have known won’t give you any credit in your own country, how people that you have been knowing you for years, people that you have known from your birth up, will treat a stranger better than he will his own kin.

So the lesson that Jesus is teaching us here; is that you can move on and he will have some people that will treat you like the king that you are, he has the power to make the strangers in Galilee treat you like the queen that you are.

46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and the bible said that he heal his son: for he was at the point of death. And I know that there have been many of us that have had too petition God just as this nobleman had to do.

There had been many of us that have said, Jesus I need you to help my baby, some of you have been just Haggar, when Abraham had put her and her baby out of the house and you have had to pray for your baby.

So I heard Jesus say in verse 48 to the man Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

But 49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down here before my child die. 50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth.

What I like about this man is that Jesus told the man to go thy way because your son liveth; and the bible said “And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And New Galilean that’s where we need to get to.

We need to get to the point, that when Jesus tells us it done we must know that it is done. When Jesus tells us that we are healed, we must know that we are healed. When Jesus tells us that we are the head and not the tail, that we are above and not beneath, we must be like this Noble man and believe him.

Well in verse 51 the bible says “as he was now going down to the house, one of his servants met him, and told him, Thy son liveth.

52 Then the Noble man enquired of him, in what hour did he began to feel better. And they said unto him, it was yesterday, somewhere near the seventh hour when I touch him and I felt that the fever left him.

53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and he believed, and his whole house. 54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.

What are you saying pastor I’m saying that Jesus have all power.

Not only does he have all power, but he has power over time, because if your remember it was four days after Lazarus had died that he raised Lazarus for the grave so he has power of time,

Jesus has power over the elements because if you remember he told waves and the billows to hush your fuss because I’m God, and when he said it the sea obeyed him.

If you remember Jesus has the power over distant because he told the Noble man I don’t need to go with you your son will liveth.

Jesus has the power to make you walk right

Jesus has the power to make you talk right

Do right

Act right

Power over life and death so just look unto him he is the author and the finisher of faith yes he is.

I’m reminded of a story about a little boy was walking downtown one day and he came to a pet store. He really wanted a little puppy dog. He began saving every penny because he wanted to get a little puppy dog. He knew exactly how much money he needed. Every day he would pass that pet shop on his way home from school.

Finally the day came when he had saved up enough money and he brought it to the storekeeper and actually broke the bank on the counter in front of the storekeeper.

The storekeeper said "this is the day you’ve been waiting for. You can now have the puppy you’ve been dreaming about." So the storekeeper took the little boy to the backside of the window that pulled apart. The storekeeper said "You can have any of these puppies you would like." The little boy began to pick up one of the puppies in the box and the store owner said "Oh no, no, you

don’t want that puppy dog. That puppy dog is crippled. That puppy will never be able to do all the tricks you’ve been dreaming of teaching him.

That puppy won’t be able to run the way you want him to run, that puppy has had some challenges in life. You don’t want that puppy dog, he’s crippled."

The little boy withdrew his hands from the puppy and stood and looked at the storeowner. You don’t understand I want that puppy. In fact I need that puppy. "Yes, I want that puppy dog right there." Then the little boy he leaned down and pulled up his pant leg that revealed a brace on his own leg. He said "You don’t understand. I want that puppy dog; you see I’m crippled too. And I just thought that since we’re both crippled, we could be even better friends."

And that’s the way the power of God see’s us, we make be cripple in some shape form or fashion. We may have some challenges in some areas, and the devil may be telling the Lord that he don’t want to deal with us, because some of us, are cripple in our minds, some of us are cripple in the way we act, some of us are liars, cheaters, and abusers.

I can hear the devil saying you don’t want that soul, because that soul has been spit on, lied on and treated as the black sheep of the family, you don’t want that soul.

But I can the Lord saying yes I want that soul right there. And I can hear him quote Hebrews 4:15 that says, For I am not a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.

For I am not a high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of the infirmities; because in all points I was tempted like as they were, yet without sin.”

Yes, I want those souls because I have the power to change them.

Do you all know that God has the power.

Tell your neighbor that he has Power!!!!!!
