JERUSALEM- SOLOMON’S TEMPLE WORSHIP

Matthew 23:37

Introduction:

We are continuing in our Series about some of the most mentioned Cities in the Bible. Tonight, we are going to study the city that is 1st on the list- Jerusalem. Jerusalem is mentioned 811 times in the Bible. Currently, there are 3 different Religions that consider Jerusalem to be a holy site- Judaism, Islam, and Christianity.

Matthew 23:37

We have been looking at the physical Temple that Solomon built for God; but we need to also notice the spiritual side of what happened. There are 4 applications from 1 Kings 6-8 concerning the Temple that we are studying. Tonight, we will study the last application- Pouring out your heart to God- Worship Him.

1 Kings 8:1-13

1 Kings 8:62-66

Pour out your heart to God through…

1. Celebration and sacrifice.

Solomon brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Temple. They sacrificed countless sheep and cattle as they brought the Ark of the Covenant into the Temple. Once the Ark was placed into the Holy of Holies, and the Priests walked away, the cloud filled the Temple. The cloud represented the glory of the Lord.

Just as Solomon celebrated the Temple and the presence of the Lord, we should do the same. Our worship should be a celebration to God; and our sacrifice is our lives. Christians are to offer their body as a living sacrifice to God; and it is holy and pleasing to Him.
