Summary: Sickening to watch people wear surplus of gold on their neck, yardstick to measure success should be exemplary character and strong mind rather than gold and wealth.

TRUST GOD NOT GOLD

Job 31:24 “If I have put my trust in gold or said to pure gold, ‘You are my security,’…..then these also would be sins to be judged, for I would have been unfaithful to God on high.”

There is a kind of obsession for gold these days, in places like South India gold and diamonds are on heavy demand by the bridegrooms. Sickening to watch people wear surplus of gold on their neck, yardstick to measure success should be exemplary character and strong mind rather than gold and wealth. No wonder we are engulfed with corruption and bribery because we have placed our trust in the wrong place.

Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan is accused of keeping several state gifts received during his tenure, including expensive ornaments and luxury watches, without having paid the appropriate sum as required by the law. He is accused of even selling the gifts and making millions out of it, thereby he has even put to shame his country. A person of his calibre and status to do such a thing is shocking; however, love for gold and money pushes people to do unimaginable things.

In the above scripture Job confidently declares, ‘ I have not put my trust in gold’, give God all the glory, honour and praise. I would like to remind of the wonderful words of Jesus here:

Matthews.6:19-21,24

19 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.

20 "But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;

21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Wow! Jesus nailed that! I was crazy of gold before Jesus walked into my life. I used to wear gold rings on all my fingers and wore a solid gold bracelet; however, after my salvation, slowly I distributed all my gold away to ministries and building of churches and I wear minimum now. I resigned from the multinational bank I was working with to serve the Lord fulltime, in the process I sold my apartment. Invested the money I got after resignation in various projects of other ministries. In the presence of God I can say I retained NOTHING for myself; nevertheless, God has been faithful. Amen.

Many slog today day and night to make money, illegally trying to enter a foreign country just to make lot of money, compromising church and God, the Bible says: “You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
