Psalm 5:1-8 Morning Prayer

I. The Problem - 1 Give ear to my words, O Lord, consider my meditation. 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

i. The Desire to be Heard -

1 Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my meditation.

1 John 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:

It's Possible, It's Plausible, It's Personnal, It's Profitable.

ii. The Desire to be Helped - 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God: for unto thee will I pray.

i. The Request - 2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry,

ii. The Relationship - my King, and my God:

iii. The Resolve - for unto thee will I pray.

iii. The Desire to be Healed - 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

i. The Dedication - My voice shalt thou hear in the morning,

ii. The Determination - O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee,

iii. The Disposition - and will look up. (Not Down, Around, Back, UP)

II. The Prayer (3-6) – Consider the aspects of David’s prayer.

The Devotion - 3 My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

The Direction - in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Psalm 121:1 I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.

The Declaration Of - 4 For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee.

God's Purity - thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness

God's Precept - neither shall evil dwell with thee.

God's Presence - dwell with thee.

The Discipline - 5 The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. 6 Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing (deception, falsehood): the LORD will abhor the bloody and

deceitful man.

Ecclesiastes 8:11 Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

III. The Praise (7-8)

i. His Rejoicing - 7 But as for me, I will come into thy house in the multitude of thy mercy:

ii. Reverence - and in thy fear will I worship toward thy holy temple

iii. His Request - 8 Lead me, O LORD, in thy righteousness because of mine enemies; make thy way straight before my face.
