Summary: The Path of Praise

Psalm 34:1-10 The Path of Praise - We should praise God -

1. Personally - 1 I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2. Profusely - his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

Heb 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is,

the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name

3. Perpetually - his praise shall continually be in my mouth.

4. Persistently - Why should we praise God?

i. For His Glory and ii. For Our Good.

A. FAITH will be BOLSTERED - 3 O magnify the Lord with me,

and let us exalt his name together.

To magnify means to make Him the big thing

‘look how small this problem is compared to God!’

Joshua and Caleb saw grasshoppers, where others saw giants

It’s not great faith that we need, but faith in a great God who works

"FATHER of Jesus Christ, my Lord, My Saviour, and my Head,"

8 The thing surpasses all my thought, But faithful is my Lord;

Through unbelief I stagger not, For God hath spoke the word.

9 Faith, mighty faith, the promise sees, And looks to that alone;

Laughs at impossibilities, And cries, It shall be done!

B. FEARS will be BANISHED

4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.

Fear is the result of an over occupation with self -

5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed.

Luke 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

C. FOES will be BEATEN -

6 This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

7 The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Jehoshaphat was a good king. But he heard that 3 nations were coming against God’s people. He prayed and sought the Lord and decided how to win the battle…it was with praise!

2 Chronicles 20:21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the LORD, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever. 22 And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten. 23 For the children of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount Seir, utterly to slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, every one helped to destroy another. 24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.

D. FUTURES will be BLESSED -

EXONERATION -

8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.

EXHORTATION - 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.

EXAMINATION - 10 The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger:

EXPECTATION - they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing
