1. THE UPWARD LOOK AT SIN - All Sin is against God

4 Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.

A. SIN IS A DEFIANCE OF GOD'S LAW

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: The word speaks of rebellion

B. SIN IS A DEFILING OF GOD'S LAW

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, - "to twist or pervert."

C. SIN IS A DEVIATION FROM GOD'S LAW.

2 and cleanse me from my sin. - of missing the mark.

Rom 3:23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

2. THE INWARD LOOK AT SIN - sin affected God but also himself.

A. HE WAS MINDFUL OF HIS SIN.

3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me

He was not only a broken man; he was also a bothered man.

A. THE DISTRACTION OF HIS SIN.

13 Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

B. THE DEVASTATION OF HIS SIN.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

C. THE DENUNCIATION OF HIS SIN.

2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity & cleanse me from my sin

His sin is Confronted, His sin is Confessed, His sin is Cleansed.
