Get Off Of My Porch!
Isaiah 5:20-25
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for
darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! 21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own
eyes, and prudent in their own sight! 22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of
strength to mingle strong drink: 23 Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the
righteousness of the righteous from him! 24 Therefore as the fire devoureth the stubble, and the
flame consumeth the chaff, so their root shall be as rottenness, and their blossom shall go up as
dust: because they have cast away the law of the LORD of hosts, and despised the word of the Holy
One of Israel. 25 Therefore is the anger of the LORD kindled against his people, and he hath
stretched forth his hand against them, and hath smitten them: and the hills did tremble, and their
carcases were torn in the midst of the streets. For all this his anger is not turned away, but his hand
is stretched out still.
Introduction:
God does not take evil lightly. When the cries of the wickedness of Sodom and Gomorrah came to
Heaven, God reduced these great cities to cinders. When the old world sank deep into violence and sensuality,
God sent a flood to wipe out all except Noah and his married sons. When Korah led a rebellion against God's
man, Moses, the earth opened and swallowed all his followers. When David sinned by numbering the people ,
a plague came and killed 70,000 men! My friends, there is a pattern here. When God strikes our in judgment,
He makes a wide swipe. Sin will effect many more than the actual perpetrators, but rather it effect everyone that
is connected to the sinner. If the offender is a family member, the family is effected. When it is a local leader,
all who are under the effect of that leadership is in danger. When it is a national leader or group of leaders, then
the blessing or cursing of an entire nation is at stake!
I had a very animated professor at Bible college by the name of Dr. Emert. He taught us about the danger
of blaspheming God's Son by claiming that He is anything less than God. He told how for some the earth
opened, for some fire fell from Heaven, and for some floods came. He told us that he had one response when
false cults come to proclaim their heresy. "I have just paid off my house and enjoy it very much. If you are going
to continue to spout evil doctrine that will anger the God of the universe, at least get off of my porch!
Our passage today speaks very clearly about the worldly mindset of the day. This is a passage that should
cause the false teachers to beware and repent of their evil teachings, and it is a passage that should wipe away
every shred of apathy shared by Bible believing Christians about the nation is which you live! I will not turn this
message into a partisan political debate, but I will not shirk my responsibility of preaching the whole counsel of
God! Many of the choices in this coming election are clearly defined in our passage today. It is time that we
create some healthy distance between us and the haters of God. I am not saying that we should not be soul
winners. We must reach all that we can. I am saying that we must, for the sake of our children and our nation,
take heed and out shine the workers of darkness! We must make the message to those who are defined in this
passage, Get off of my porch!
I. Tell The Corrupters To Get Off Of Your Porch!
Isaiah 5:20
20 Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for
darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!
God uses an old fashioned cry, "Woe!" This is a warning of coming sorrow, grief and misery. This verse
speaks of corrupters, those who change definitions. There are those who switch the definitions of good and
evil. Unlike today's "educated" opinions, good and evil do not change with the climate of culture! THere are
those who will call evil good. It is not a new thing! The people of Israel longed to go back into the slavery of
Egypt because they were tired of submitting to God's man and God's authority. It was that longing that led them
to distort their past life of evil slavery and long for it as though it were a good thing. You do the same thing when
you long for the sins to which you were once enslaved, before you were saved. The devil distorts your memory
and you call evil good.
Numbers 11:5-6
5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the
leeks, and the onions, and the garlick: 6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all,
beside this manna, before our eyes.
We are faced with a choice of national leadership. One has a track record of choosing associations with
evil doers, and the other does not. Let us get some more advise from scriptures.
Proverbs 24:24
24 He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor
him:
Mark it down, when wicked leadership is counted to be honorable, God will judge that nation that tolerated
his leadership! Christians had better snap out of their ignorance and apathy! That same evil leadership will call
good evil. Jesus warns us of those type of leaders. We are living in an age where in some areas of the United
States, preachers are being forced to take licenses. THey are only issued that license if the powers that be
think that his message is diverse and tolerant enough to warrant that license! Wake up Christians!!
John 16:2
2 They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will
think that he doeth God service.
The corrupters will call darkness light and light darkness! Those who seek to pervert God's Word have
called Lucifer the "Morning Star"! (A name for Jesus!) You will find that in the NIV Isaiah 14:12. The corrupters
have replaced God's absolute truth of the Word of God with man's flawed and corrupted reasoning. God's
Word will not change! It will stand the test of time! It stands perfect today in the King James Bible for english
speaking people!
Psalm 12:6-7
6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. 7
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
Man's ideas are fatally flawed! That is why we must submit ourselves to a standard that is greater than we
are! It is that perfect light that sometimes makes us uncomfortable, because we see ourselves as we really are.
It is that light that makes us squirm during hot and direct preaching. Look at the difference between man's
darkness and God's light.
Proverbs 16:25
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
John 3:19-20
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather
than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither
cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
The corrupters have also changed bitter for sweet. I believe that this is specifically referring to the results of
ones actions. The Devil knows that if he can create a hunger in your heart, he can feed you the bitter rot of the
stench of sin! Sin starts out seeming to be sweet, and turns out bitter. This is the result of the corrupters.
Proverbs 27:7
7 The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.
Proverbs 20:17
17 Bread of deceit is sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.
II. Tell The Proud Ones To Get Off Of Your Porch!
Isaiah 5:21
21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!
Once again we see that the great danger of judgment comes when man becomes the center of his own
universe! There was a commercial a few months back that featured pictures of people all over the world. When
the camera came to them they would hold a sign that said "I AM!" Man in his corrupted state wants to take
God's place. That attitude will not be ignored by GOd forever. I heard the theme song for the children's station
Nicholodian. There was a phrase that said that "I am my own creation". God is listening to that! God has
some very specific things to say about this kind of pride.
Isaiah 47:10
10 For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy
knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Proverbs 26:12
12 Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
III Tell The Ones Who Are Bought To Get Off Of Your Porch!
Isaiah 5:22-23
22 Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink: 23
Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
There are those in our leadership that are enslaved to booze, and retain their leadership because of the
power and money that their family has! I am not kidding when I say that I am glad that I do not live in
Massachusetts! There are those in leadership that invite the wrath of God on us all because of their sin! You
had better take it seriously when it comes time to vote. You had better take it seriously when it comes time to
pray for this nation that we love!
There are those who will , for the sake of political loyalty and future monitory reward, turn their back of the
pursuit of justice. There are those in our nation's leadership that have no problem burning 8o plus religious
zealots alive, ordering kidnaping at gunpoint, and still shutting their eyes when those with money and power
commit treason against our great nation. This is not only a political struggle, it is a stench that gets the attention
of almighty God! It does matter what you do with the great privilege that you have in this nation called voting!
This same leadership that justifies wickedness for personal gain will threaten the freedom of fundamental
preachers and their ability to freely preach the truth. It has been said that the markings of a terrorist cult are
people that literally believe the Bible, people that do not trust public school education, people who support the
second amendment, and people that are looking for an imminent return of Jesus Christ called the rapture.
Guess what friends, that describes me! I am no terrorist! We face some dark times. We must be sobered as
to our responsibilities both as Christians and as citizens.
IV. We Will All Share In The Judgment If We Do Not Take A Stand!
Isaiah 5:24-25

Now, my friends, I realize that this passage specifically speaks of the nation of Israel, but the principles
remain. Wake up my friends! Look at the middle east! We are facing the possibility of the arab nations uniting
against Israel and we will be in the middle. It is not a time to have corrupters on our porch. It is not a time to
have the proud, boastful, distorters of reality on our porch! It is a bad time to have the bought ones on our
porch! If you have been deceived by this worldly mindset, repent while you still can. If you have been an
apathetic christian, turn from your wickedness! If you are concerned about who is on your porch, pray, preach,
go soul winning ,and vote! It is time to get the wicked ones off of our porch!
