V. Main Points

A. God wants us to trust Him: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me” John 14:1 Jesus calls us to not focus on our life, our difficulties, our pain, Jesus calls for us to trust God, His plan is better than anything we could do

B. God blesses those who trust Him: Proverbs 3:5-6 - Main text: When we trust God we rely on Him, not on ourselves, this is not always easy, we are people of free will and we like to act on that will, when we live life in such a way that honors God, we will be blessed by Him, our trust in God reaps larger rewards, God promises to guide and protect us, he will make our way straight

C. God can be trusted: “Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, LORD, have never forsaken those who seek you.” Psalm 9:10, God is worthy of our trust and He will never leave us or forsake us, God has never broken a promise, He is forever faithful, He is forever true

VI. Personal story

A. Abigail’s surgery: Sudden and swift turn of events, we had to decide within minutes of talking with the doctor if we wanted the surgery done, there really was no choice in the matter, it had to be done or we could face the same surgery with life and death circumstances

B. Personal struggle: I hated the thought of surgery being done, I was having a difficult time preparing my sermon for Sunday, I was up late Saturday evening and literally prayed to God “why us and why now”, I believe God’s response was a question - “Do you trust me?”, Yes I trust you but I don’t trust this hospital, “Do you trust me?”, Yes I trust you but I don’t know this doctor and how can I trust him with my daughter?, Who do you trust? I realized that I didn’t need to put my trust in the hands of some surgeon or doctors, I didn’t need to put my trust in the care of the hospital, I needed to place my trust in God to care for my little girl and He would take care of the situation
