Summary: Jesus taking our place on the cross for our sins.

A Friend

Suppose you are in prison, you have committed murder or rape or something worthy of death.

The judge gave you the death penalty.

While you are waiting the execution, they come and let you out and put your friend in your place.

He says to you, “I have come to take your place.”

We’d say No! You shouldn’t.

He says, “I want to because I love you. Only don’t do it any more and remember me.”

What would you do?

Would you do those same things that put you on death row?

Would you remember him?

Is this not what Jesus has done?

John 15: 10-14

We’ve all sinned Romans 3: 23 “For all have sin…”

& judgement is death! Romans 6: 23 “For wages of sin..”

Jesus is saying to us here, I take your place-go and sin no more.

Impotent man by pool of Bethesda.

Afterwards Christ came to him and said, “Behold, thou are made whole, sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.” John 5:1-14

Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

He’s saying come all that are laden with sin. I will set you free.

I’ll give you life. I’ll take your place.

Romans 1: 16

Romans 2: 4-11

Have you been to Christ?

Are you remembering him?

Are we still doing the same old things?

Drinking, drunkenness, lying, gossiping, adultery, cursing, hating, envying.

God forbid Romans 6: 1

He said remember him and confess him to others.

Matt 10: 32

I Corr 11: 23-26

Acts 20: 7 Resurrected Pentecost

1st day of week ascended

What are we doing?

1st day of week has been set by God as a special day in which to show our remembrance.

We are to assemble to remember him.

What do we do? Cut our grass.

Go fishing or hunting

Do our work

Live as though nothing ever happened

As though he didn’t die for us!

Heb 10: 23-31

What about our life?

Have we come to Christ?

Do we need to come unto him again?

Simon Acts 8

Acts 19

Acts 2: 38 “…Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.”
