Why God Is Worshiped Here.
Isa 40:21-25 Have ye not known? have ye not heard? hath it not been told you from the beginning? have ye not understood from the foundations of the earth?
22It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
23That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
24Yea, they shall not be planted; yea, they shall not be sown: yea, their stock shall not take root in the earth: and he shall also blow upon them, and they shall wither, and the whirlwind shall take them away as stubble.
25To whom then will ye liken me, or shall I be equal? saith the Holy One.
Do you really know God? Do you have a real and working knowledge of his power? Do you think that you grasp the awesomeness of God?
I submit today that I know we don’t have a clue as to how great and powerful God is. You know what I want to do today? I want to rock your comfortable little world with a revelation of Jesus Christ!
God is Self – Existent.
Ex 3:15 15And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
I don’t have the time, and there really isn’t a need to marshal out a page full of scriptures that validate this Truth. God is God all by himself!
Notice here what he says for Moses to tell Pharaoh. He said I want you to go and tell him that I am that I am has sent you.
He didn’t say tell him that “I was” sent you, or “I want to be” has asked you to go.
Folks let’s get this straight early today. There is nothing about God that has ceased to be or hasn’t yet been. He is the Great I Am! He is the root of all existence. All life flows from him. Is his the immutable, holy, eternal One!
He alone can say, “I am God and there is none else.” He declares, “ I lift up my hand to heaven and say, I live forever.”
He is the only self-existent, self-sustained, underived being. We need to lay hold on some truths about God today.
He exists of his own nature! He is the only light of life. Every other life is a reflection of him.
Realize with me that there was a time when there wasn’t any life on this earth. There was a time when it was void, without a creature. Then suddenly, they stated coming from him as if they were coming off a potter’s wheel!
Every creature, great and small, depends on him for sustenance. Every creature depends on him for its every day existence.
Let me show you a powerful thing. There are some things that are around us that we know are a necessity to us. They exist out of necessity.
Air. Gravity. Balance. Heat. Cool. Light. On and on.
You know what? The reason they are necessities to us is because God created the necessity. He said they will need this, here it is! It is all by his divine decree!
Your little problems don’t have an impact on God! They don’t rob him of his ability!
Is anything to hard for the lord! No!
God is independent. Name me one other being that is. You can’t! God alone is. We need food, water, and rest to replenish ourselves after the exertions of our days. Not so with God. He is self-sufficient.
He never wearies, never tires, never depletes his resources. In fact he does not have resources. He doesn’t need them!
That is why we worship him here today! This great awesome God loves us! We worship THE unmovable, forever established king of all kings.
Every knee shall bow to him!
Pharaoh said who is this God that I should consider him? Did that bother God? Did he go into a tizzy and say, Oh no Pharaoh doesn’t know me? No!
Just tell him for me Moses, Let my people go!
The devil may be telling you that he isn’t going to let you be delivered. He may be telling you that you aren’t going to make it.
But I have good news for you. The devil doesn’t count! God is not listening to him and neither should you.
Jesus said that you should know the truth and the truth shall set you free, and he went on to say if the son therefore has set you free, you shall be free indeed!
Got a major problem? Get God and get over it!
He existed before the world, and he doesn’t need it now!
Get this picture. If he could take an eraser and blot out the very memory of man and all of the trappings of creation, it would not diminish his power. His divine authority and position would never be altered!
All of creation is merely a glimpse of the greatness of his being. Everything came from him!
Remember, the scriptures declare “in him there is no variableness nor shadow of turning.” He never changes!
We are ever moving from birth to death. Living to dying. Not so with God. He was and is and is to come!
Things that were created are getting older. They were new at one time, but now they are aging and decaying. Not God!
Don’t just ho hum your way through this today!
I am preaching to you today about why we worship God here!
We are so limited in our thinking about God. We compare everything to time. We require starting points. We measure in distance traveled.
There is not a starting point with God. You can’t go into the annals of time and find where someone or thing fashioned God. If you could travel back you would discover one thing.
God Almighty standing alone. Full of his glory! Eternal. Unchangeable. He changes everything, but remains forever unchanged!
God Has An Everlasting Dominion
The fact that he is self – existent is testimony of the fact that there is no conceivable force that can ever wound, injure or destroy him!
Every nation of the earth could join in allegiance to Satan and say that they were going to overthrow God and his church. You know what effect that would have on God? None whatsoever!
Somebody needs to hear what I am preaching today! You have been wandering around wondering why you are living your life for God. Regretting the decision you made to come to church. Living in fear of Satan and what you think he can do to you.
Listen, long before Calvary, God was God and he has never been threatened, isolated or in distress! And he is on your side!
That’s why Paul wrote, if God be for us, who can be against us?
Listen to the words of David. “Thine O Lord is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine. This is the kingdom, O Lord and thou art exalted as head above all!”
No-one or nothing can ever touch him! Nothing will ever cause his power to diminish or even flinch! He is God!
Are you hearing me today! You need God awareness! Why don’t you pull your head out of the sand and start worshiping the awesome God that saved you! Its time to get over your fear! Its time to get over your depression! You are living for God! His dominion is forever!
Do you remember what the prophet spoke of the Messiah? The increase of his government shall have no end! Its still growing today!
The ones that tried to revolt against God are forever reserved in chains of darkness!
Somebody needs to hear pastor today! You need to hear the word of God! Remember it was God that said, stand still and know that I am God!
It may seem like life is just flying about around you with no rhyme or reason, it may appear to be flying about like a hanky in a dust storm but its not!
God is ruling it all! There is not one thing that is left to its own devices! The omnipresent and omnipotent God is in control!
God’s kingdom has no beginning or ending!
Kingdoms of men. Begin. Flourish for a time. Many ceased because of a lack of heirs. A great army overthrew many. The mightiest of kings have all died.
But God’s kingdom has no beginning nor ending. Two words will never be used to describe it. Predecessor or successor.
Are you hearing this today? Quit fretting about if God is going to be able to help you overcome some foe. God has never been defeated! He hasn’t even been challenged!
The bible declares that his throne is seated in righteousness. You can rejoice today, God’s throne will never be moved!
I could go on and on this morning. But I have a point that I really feel God revealed to me last night.
We worship him today, not because of what he has done for us, nor because of a mere experience we had when we were born again.
Let me show you a couple of things.
You Have Been Restored To Glory
This epic battle for the souls of man can be traced back to a garden scene. There man fell from his created state into sin.
Culminated on a bloody cross atop a rugged hill and was completed three days later with an empty tomb, a Victorious Christ and a broken Satan.
Worship is not merely something that we do. I have heard it described in such cavalier ways as to be compared to a pastime. Worship is not a hobby, pastime, or experience. It is not merely a way of expressing your love and affection for God.
Worship is a place. It is a position.
Adam and Eve lost their first estate. In fact their sin caused us to be born outside of it. The bible tells us that we have all fallen short of glory. Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
NT:1391 Glory doxa (dox’-ah); from the base of NT:1380; glory (as very apparent), in a wide application (literal or figurative, objective or subjective):
KJV- praise, worship.
Moses said, Lord show me your glory. God said I can’t yet. But I tell you what. I am going to place you in the cleft of the rock. I will walk by and let you see what is behind me.
That is when he received the revelation of creation and the history of man.
Moses had been closer to God than any other human. He has been in his absolute presence. He desired to be in his glory.
His soul was recognizing the greatness of God and was crying out to be restored to the place of glory that it was created for.
Instead, God showed him the awesomeness of creation and gave him a plan for worship. With it came a promise of limited glory. Tabernacle. Cloud, etc.
The battle proceeded. Jesus.
If you knew who I was among you…if you knew that I am more than a carpenter’s kid. You would have to worship me.
When he was making his triumphant entry, the people began to praise him. Luke 19:38-40 Saying, Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord: peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.
39And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.
40And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.
Why? His glory. This was the manifested glory of God. His grace and power were both manifested.
On a bloody cross atop a rugged hill this battle recommenced. Three days later it was settled when a victorious Christ emerged having defeated Satan.
This was not an epic struggle of good against evil. Evil never stood a chance. God was at work.
Here is what is so vital.
Our worship today is not a thing. It is not our words, it is not our thoughts. It is our place. It is our position in Christ.
In Romans 3 the word for glory literally means worship. I John 3:8 says that for the purpose of destroying the works of the devil the son of God was manifested.
Calvary’s cross, Jesus’ sacrifice, was all about restoring you to your glory position.
This great, awesome God that I have spent a little time describing to you this morning, desires your worship.
He desires that you abide in your glory position! That is why we worship God here!
He has been good to us, but that isn’t the only reason. He has saved us. But that’s not the only reason.
We have been restored to glory. Worship is now the essence of our being. It is no longer an afterthought. It is rather, the preeminent thought. We don’t worship him because we feel like it. We worship him because that is what we were created to do! We were created to be worshipers of God!
We can’t escape it. Try as we may, we can’t get around it. Our soul recognizes that we are in glory before we do. The next thing we know we are speaking the words that are emanating from deep within our souls!
Satan desires to sell us short of glory. Christ came to restore us to it.
Hear what your savior has done for you today!
When you were he gave
Greedy unselfish
Hateful loving
Sinful righteous
Bound liberty
Filthy purity
Damned pardon
Outside of glory glory!
We may be loud, we may be boisterous, in fact we should be both. But we have been restored to glory! W3e now have this treasure in earthen vessels.
Hey I feel compelled to ask you. What are you holding in your life in comparison to God? To whom or what have you likened him, to what have you identified him as being equal?
A drink, a smoke, an affair, a job, a relationship, a hobby, a habit, a personality trait. Put it in the palm of your hand and compare it to God, there is no comparison!
And you’re going to let it bind you when God is saying that he will free you? You have the God of all glory wanting to live inside you and you are going to be bound by something?
Hey come on! Experience the power of God in your life today!
Paul said nothing could separate us from the love of God in Christ. Know why? Nothing is greater than God. And God loved you so much that he robed himself in flesh and died on a cross to save you!
Nothing deserves more worship than God. Nothing is more worthy than God!
Get in the glory position today.
You are allowing your problems to rob you of the glory! You weren’t saved by grace to survive problems. You were saved by grace to give God the glory that you fell short of in sin!
Hey, I know that there are times that the powers that are at work against the church seem awful strong. But I want you to know that you are serving THE invincible king! He will prove his position! He will remind all of his authority!
He will achieve his purposes!
Come on and get this in your heart today. This should bring you complete joy. God reigns! He is king forever and ever.
