Summary: "Why doesn’t anything change in my home?"

MARK CHAPTER 2

Allelujah, how many servants do we have in the house today? I said, “How many servants do we have in the house today?” All right, sit down! Ha, now let’s get started. We’re going to see how many servants we do have in the house. Praise the Lord. In life we should serve in order to be served; how many of you agree? In fact, we have to serve in order to be served. A principle was a student before he became a principle. A pastor was a member of a church congregation before he became a pastor. A teacher had to put up with scoring, and paperwork, and raising his or her flag to ask a yes or no question before he or she became a teacher. In other words, we all need to serve in order to be served. We should always have opened doors so that the doors will be opened to us,

when the time comes, in our favor. Back in Kansas, home of the hillbillies and good men with big stomachs and short ties, there was a church. Oh, let’s just call it Trinity Worship Center. Well we all know that when Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas come around,

churches get full. Most of the time, if not all the time, it’s because there is food. Some pastors even call them “dollar days” because that’s basically what a lot of people give in the offerings: a dollar. That’s in Mexico, though, not here. Well, that day in particular, the church was packed, kind of like this place here where all the time the Lord just keeps on bringing new souls into his temple because of what He is doing here, and it just so happened to be Easter Sunday in that Kansas Church. Everyone had come with a spirit of expectancy, just expecting something phenomenal to happen and boy, did it happen. I’m not going to mention any names, but Pastor Kane had prepared an anointed sermon like he always does. You know, those that take hours and hours to finish? He had also gotten a new Armani suit that Pastor Debbie, his wife, had just gotten for him. She had fixed him up with this new poochie thing; one of those squiggly thingies you put in the front pocket of the coat that never stays in place. Well, anyway, Pastor had his sermon ready. Right before he went up on stage, the choir was doing a special. Then, out of nowhere, there started a leak. Yeah, a leak right on the stage and you can imagine how the choir was responding because it was right over them. What had happened was that the condensation pans had overfilled and the water just began to flow out of them, through the ceiling. Some thought it was the river of Life, but when they saw it was kind of dirty, they began to think differently. The choir started complaining to themselves and finally, one of the choir ladies found her man out in the front of the congregation and shouted, “Glenn, take care of that!” This man that should remain nameless just got off his seat and stormed out of there and on his way out, got another heroic man to help him. The congregation found out who the head of that household was. Well, there they went, up the stairs, to the attic of the sanctuary and everyone could hear the footsteps up there. Pastor knew what was going on and all he thought was that they should of turned off the air conditioning units and care for it later, but no... They had to be heroes. Well, Glenn, decided to please his wife, ended up trying to fix the leak, but out of nowhere what everyone feared happening happened. Glenn came down through the ceiling! All you could see were his legs hanging down from the ceiling and the people were all in awe. He was holding on to some 2 x 4’s and suddenly, just like screeching thunder, came a horrendous sound. From the back, beyond the sanctuary, you heard an old woman calling out, “Glenn!!!” Man, this woman scared the living heaven out of them. After Pastor told us what he was feeling and thinking during this whole thing he said she must have recognized him because of his really long legs. Then, to top it off, the other man, Mr. Him, asked in a pretty loud voice, “Can you see anybody?” Glenn responded, “I can see the choir.” See, it didn’t matter what the people in the congregation thought about them. It didn’t matter how funny the church service would look on television. They were determined to help. In fact, they didn’t even care how ridiculous they looked. They just

wanted to do even the impossible to, well, to stop that leak. They just went out of their way and made a way. In the most popular selling book, The Bible, in the book of Mark, chapter 2, there is a story of a man who couldn’t walk. Jesus was in the area, in a home

of a lady, performing miracles. It was impossible for this man to get into the house because it was just so packed and nevertheless, never alone because of his incapability. There were a few good men, much like the ones from that church in Kansas, like Glenn, who was black and with a good attitude, Mr. Him, who talked much like a rancher, and Abu, who worked at a local convenient store called the Kwikie - Mart. These men were nice enough and willing to help this crippled man. Being that the home was so filled with

people just seeking the glory of Jesus, it was impossible to even get this man in through the windows, so, the brilliant one decided to carry him up on the roof. They started brainstorming on how to make the hole to get him in through there. They probably got some hammers, a couple of drillers, and made a perfect hole with a circular saw. Right,

come on people, they probably just began to use some pieces of wood or rocks and trashed the hole opened. They wanted to see a miracle. They tied him up with a rope and started to lower him down through the holy hole they had made on the roof. Now, maybe the owner of the home was shocked and embarrassed as she saw that part of the ceiling was coming down. Maybe she wanted to go tell the king that the sky was falling, but when she saw the man being lowered down through that hole, and when she saw Jesus heading towards him, she probably felt the Spirit of the Lord come upon her

and began to shout, “Do it, Jesus! Show your glory, Lord, show your healing power!” She probably didn’t worry about her holy roof. She probably didn’t even worry about how it was going to be fixed, or what people thought about her home. All she wanted was for God to perform a miracle and for people to say, “We have never seen anything like this before!” These three men were all in the same accord. The Bible says that when there’s two or three people in one accord, His presence is there and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom, joy, peace, love, there are manifestations, people heal, people receive from Him, and there can’t be anything nor anyone that can come against it and prevail, and there is no devil on earth that can stop it! Oh, glory!

[Spirit led tongue speaking interruption.]

They wanted to see something happen in this crippled man’s life. These men wanted to serve and be blessed, as well, and went out of their way to get it, also. Now, when you do something for God, the devil always tries to bring you down. These three men probably

had their wives waiting for them in this house. Their husbands had probably promised them they would show up and attend that miracle crusade service with them. But you know us men, we are always so helpful and warm hearted and always want to help the ones in need. Well, I could picture the “Wive’s Club” just sitting in the middle of the sanctuary, shaking their feet, their eyelids twitching, looking at their watches to see what time it is because their men never showed up, and with their lips sticking out with a lemon face thinking, “If he thinks he is going to get dinner, he is so totally, absolutely, definitely, positively wrong!” Abu’s wife was probably like, “He is sleeping alone in the Kwikie - Mart tonight!” The other one was probably wondering, “Do I have lipstick on my teeth?” Suddenly, out of nowhere, they see the roof being torn apart. They see a man being loaded down by a rope and three men holding it because he only weighed 365 pounds. They saw that this crippled guy was laying on the floor after he was brought down, miraculously touched and healed by the power of the God, and saw him jump up and shout and rejoice and walk out of that place, and probably wondered who or what got him through the roof, and as they “oooed” and “awwwed”, they looked up and saw that the three men up there were their men. I bet one of them started telling her husband with just her lips, “I love you, baby... I... love... you... You getting some steak tonight, baby...” The other one, Abu’s wife, was probably like, “Ooooh! That’s my man! You sleeping with me honey bunch!” Maybe the third lady was like, “Hummm, honey? Do I have lipstick on my teeth?” See, when you open the door of your heart to Jesus, love comes in. Peace and friendship come in, but most important of all, Jesus comes in and along with that come His blessings. Those blessings bless you and your family and generations to come. Once you do that, you just get a desire to help anyone, anywhere, anytime, in any situation they may find themselves in. You start feeling like giving and sowing and you get blessed and receive because of that. This woman, the owner of the house, opened the

door of her home not only to Jesus, but to many others and His blessings were there to stay. Once you give, and I don’t only mean financially, but in every way, with a loving heart, the Lord gives it back to you, but multiplied. He promised it in His word. Many

people ask, “Why hasn’t God done anything in my home? I always tithe, I always help at church, I always do this and I always do that. Why isn’t anything happening?” The reason nothing happens is because you don’t have a hole in your roof! Now, I don’t mean

for you to go to Sears and get some stuff to make a luxurious sunroof over your livingroom. What I mean is, do you allow for the Lord to come and do whatever he wants to do with your home? Or do you keep your husband or your wife from having gatherings of where the Name of the Lord can be glorified? Once you start letting God be God of your home and in your home, He will demonstrate to you and your neighbors and all who surround you His power and that’s when everyone will begin to say, “We have never seen anything like this before!” His promises are “Yes” and “Amen”. In other

words, they’ll come to be because they just will. The lame man received his healing: He could walk. The owner of the home received her blessing, plus a holy sunroof. The Glenn guy received some steak for dinner and Abu received a nice bed and a nice wife to sleep with that night. What more could they want? The other one received a wife with lipstick on her teeth. They served and now they were being served. They blessed and now they were being double blessed because they had found favor in the eyes of Jesus. In this generation, though, God promised to multiply what you give, not one hundred fold, not one thousand fold, but a million fold. You need to be a goal getter and have a hole in your roof. Make it a point where you just want to lift up the Name of Jesus and that’s when you will see things change in your home, your family, your neighbors, your community, and your church will be on fire, and that’s when everyone will say, “We have

never seen anything like this before...” May it always be that way in your lives and here at Trinity.
