Summary: What do you call him?

MAN OF MANY NAMES

Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

My wife and I have been battling each other over what name we will name our next child.

Why, we even made it a topic on last week’s poll on our Church Page.

She prefers "James Luke" and myself, "James Raegen."

Finally I said to her, "Maybe we should give him more than just one name."

Examples: James Raegen Luke Bryant

Ofcoarse she didn’t like the sound of that either…

Well, this week I found some scripture where Jesus himself was a man of many names.

Isaiah 9:6: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace...

So you see, we too could have more than one name…

James, Raegen, Luke, Isaiah, Kendall. Dillon, Christopher, John Bryant

But seriously, Jesus truly was a man of many names.

Why? Because there’s no one name that would totally describe him.

Jesus is wonderful.

In his birth, life, death & resurrection.

In his wonderful way he is able to change peoples lives.

He will be wonderful when he comes back to take us all home.

Jesus is the greatest counselor known to man.

He knows all about us.

And in knowing all about us, he has all the answers for us.

We need not set up an appointment to see him either. We can go to him in prayer.

Jesus is the Mighty God and the Everlasting Father.

He is mighty & will endure forever.

Jesus is the Prince of Peace.

Peace! So many seek this today in all the wrong places.

Yet we Christians can have that peace, by putting our trust in Jesus.

Jesus.., A man of many names...
