In the physical sense, a giant is one whose physical body is immensely bigger than a normal man. Giants, because of their sizes and shapes, usually carve an awesome image for themselves. They are fearful not just in size, but in their actions also. Little wonder, they are considered as ’gods’ in their own right. Whosoever then that will fight and destroy any giant, must do a serious analysis of the tactics and the weaponry to put into use. As there are physical giants, so there are spiritual giants. How then do we deal with them? We shall look at some giant killers in the Bible, and then establish strong points on how giants can be killed: Let us read first from the book of Joshua chapter 15 verse 14, it says. "And Caleb drove thence the three sons of Anak, Sheshai, and Ahiman, and Talmai, the children of Anak." God had promised Israelites that they were going to inherit a land filled with milk and honey. As the Israelites were getting close to this promise land, Moses sent 12 spies to go and look at the place, or better put, to go and spy out the place. As there were 12 tribes in Israel, each tribe had to donate a man and of course they donated their greatest warriors that were available. So the people went to the Promised Land and came back with their reports. Numbers chapter 13 verse 26-27, have this to say: "And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and shewed them the fruit of the land. [27] And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it". Nevertheless, the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalakites dwell in the land of the south and the Hittites and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains…" Fearful picture. The place in a nutshell is a no go area. It had been completely surrounded by enemies, and yet, it was the Promised Land. What then did Caleb do. Verses 30 - 33 of the same chapter read thus: "And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. [31] But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. [32] And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. [33] And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight". As a result of that evil testimony something happened in Numbers chapter 14 verse 1 "And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night". It was only someone like Caleb who said, "we are able to overcome them". "Only rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not". Caleb was that man who refused to grow old, he was vigorous and faithful, all through his life. He was therefore courageous enough to drive out the giants from his own inheritances today too that are being governed by giants. They need to be chased away and slain. David too was a giant killer that most people know in the Bible as the killer of Goliath. He too was courageous and he had violent faith. He refused to allow the threat of the giant to discourage him. He told the giant that, although he had come in the name of his god, but he, David had come in the name of the Almighty Lord of hosts whom he had defiled. And then prophesied unto the giant saying, "This day, I will bring down your head". And it happened just like that. If you are going to face the giants too, many things have to be quite clear to you. We all have different giants working against us. Some people’s giants are sicknesses, while with some it is prayerlessness. There are also those whose giants are their inability to read their Bible or witness to anybody. We also have those whose giants are sleeplessness. The giant in some other people’s lives toss them right, left and centre. With my experience in the ministry, I have come to realise that a lot of Christians harbour giants inside their expensive clothes. Those giants by all means have to die. Therefore, I want you to allow the anger of the Holy Spirit to burn inside of you. Decide that it is the giant that will give way. Be determined that you should get very angry in your spirit, like David got angry and called Goliath the uncircumcised philistine. "He wondered angrily why such a hopeless giant should be threatening the army of the living God. It will interest you to know that Goliath had threatened the Israelites 81 times before David arrived at the war front. Perhaps your own physical or spiritual Goliath has also been threatening you for a long time. It is time for you to rise and slay it. Gone are those days when a witch would cry today and the next day a child would die. Witches who are wicked spiritual giants operate now on a more terrible scale. Whenever they cry, a child dies, they no longer postpone the evil day. If you then choose to stand still and watch them operate, as they want in your life, then, you should blame yourself for the evil consequences and effects of their operations. We now have plenty of comedians who parade themselves as Christians in the church of God. Many of them have Goliaths that pursue then relentlessly day and night. But instead of addressing their Goliaths, they will choose to attend a Bible college. Attending a Bible College is by no means the solution to a pursuing Goliath. The solution is to get truly angry in your spirit, stand on the word of God and defeat your Goliath. If you stand and fight your Goliath, the trouble in your home and business will disappear completely. They will be left with no choice. While I was in the primary school. I attracted many enemies amongst my classmates for no fault of mine. In those days, the teachers usually do not whip those who performed poorly in class tests and examinations by themselves. Rather, they assigned that duty to those who perform excellently well in the class. Since I was doing well in my academics I was always asked to whip the poor performers. But after I had whipped them, they would gather themselves together and wait for me at the gate after school hours and beat me up thoroughly. This terrible situation continued for a long time. Then one day, I purposed in my mind to do something that would put an end to the unpleasant situation. There and then, I bought the peppery balm called Chinese balm. Shortly before the school ended on a particular day, I rubbed my palm with the Chinese balm. As usual, my classmates that I had whipped for poor performance that day were waiting for me at the school gate. But as the first person attacked me, I just robbed my palm very aggressively on his eyes, and the unexpected happened. He screamed uncontrollably. I did the same thing to the second person and that one started screaming too. Since they could not open their eyes, I was able to beat them up very well. That is how to deal with the giant. If I may ask you, where did the stone of David get into the body of Goliath? It was the forehead, because of that Goliath could no longer see, so it was easy for David to finish him up in record time. Therefore you are going to close your eyes now and pray aggressively like this, You the Lord that differentiate the land of Goshen from the land of Egypt, send blindness into the camp of my enemies, in the mighty name of Jesus. Matthew chapter 18 verse 18 says, "Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven". That verse can be interpreted as follows, whatsoever you refuse to permit on earth, heaven will refuse to permit it. So if you declare to the giant today that you must be freed and that the giant must be slain, heaven will make the same declaration. If however you decide to watch your giant without taking any action, heaven too will stand still. There is nobody who can convince me that any witch is stronger than God. Who is the witch that will talk when God is speaking? The problems created by giants in the lives of men can be divided into twelve.
1. Sin: Sin took the best life (Jesus) and nailed it to the cross. It was that terrible and it is even more terrible and it is even more terrible now. The only Son of God had to die for the remission of other peoples’ sins. It follows therefore that whatsoever cam make God kill His own Son cannot be a joking matter. It must be really serious. If God felt the only was to remove sins from the earth was for His own Son to die, then you should know that sin is a serious problem. We read in the Bible that an ailing man stood by the pool of Bethsaida for 38 years without receiving any form of healing. It meant therefore that the man had gotten there before Jesus was born physically. Jesus finished his earthly ministry around 33 years of age. That man had been in that place for 38 years. God in those days used to send an Angel to trouble the water by which the man stood. Whosoever got into the water first. Got healed. Because of the man’s infirmity, he could not get into the water. He was in that position when Jesus was passing by. Jesus healed him and warned him to sin no more, lest a terrible thing come upon him. It was then that the man could understand why he was in that situation for 38 years. It was sin that tied him down. A lot of people have been tied down by sin. But if you don’t untie yourself and the trumpet sounds, then you will be sitting in the same place while others will be gone. That should not be your lot in Jesus’ name. Know this fact that if you are heavenly minded, you will go to heaven, but if you are earthly minded, you will remain on earth. Please pray this prayer point with all aggression: I refuse to be magnetized to the world, in Jesus’ name. So, anybody who comes to the house of God and is not born again, he or she is only wasting his or her time. Infact, such a person is just in the church to help contribute to the physical growth of the church without necessarily being a child of God. He is nothing but a mere contributor. If you give money to a church and you are not born again, you are only donating a useless business, which will bring no profit.
2. Curses: A lot of people are labouring under heavy curses. And sad enough they don’t understand the situation they are in. However there is one simple sign with which one can know if he or she is under a curse. You will feel that there is something somewhere battling against you which you cannot understand. You cannot master the thing, but you know that there is a battle. Maybe you are in a situation where everything works so well for you only to scatter at the edge of success. If you have noticed a pattern like that, then know that there is a curse in place. Perhaps you have noticed that in one particular family that all the sisters therein don’t stay in their husbands’ houses or all the men that marry from that family would be idle, while the wives would be would become the bread winners. Terrible curses are truly in place, and they must be broken.
3. Evil covenants: A lot of people have been given as promissory notes to evil spirits by their own people without their knowledge. Once that has been done, the covenant remains binding. If you had at a point in time in your life exchanged anything with a white garment herbalist, perhaps in form of sacrificial items to appease the demons troubling you then, you have already formed a covenant with both the herbalist or priest and the demons. It therefore must be broken. If you do not break the covenants like that. I knew a sister, who always took ill whenever her school certificate examination was around the corner. She wouldn’t take ill until it was one week to the all important school certificate examination. The ugly situation continued for a long time. When the situation had defied all solutions the mother of the sister then consulted an oracle in her village. The oracle revealed that the sister was having problems because a particular river was hungry. The oracle reportedly asked the mother of the sister to buy a bag of rice, a bag of beans, a basket of tomatoes and dump them inside the river. The mother of the sister obeyed the oracle. She went and bought the items and dumped them inside the hungry river. By the next examination, the sister passed in flying colours. They all rejoiced greatly in her family. Meanwhile, the demon of the river kept quiet until the girl got into the university, read law graduated, got married and had first child. Then, the river demon came and reminded her that he was the foundation of her success. Therefore she must be worshipping him. The girl promptly told the demon that she was already born-again Christian. The demon then asked her if she didn’t know that she was a born-again Christian when her mother approached him for help? There and then the devil started walking on her. The way the demon started was this. One day, the husband just came home and bought another woman into the house and gave her a room in the flat. He then warned her that, if she made any trouble in the house about the new development, she would be sent packing. When all pleas from the woman fell on deaf ears, she decided to seek for divine intervention from God. As soon as a minister of God prayed for her, the Lord revealed that she had made a covenant with a demon, which must be broken immediately. She prayed very aggressively and the evil covenant got broken. Covenant breaking prayers are not gentle prayers. It is like you want to break the chains tying the hands of somebody, and the key is with the devil. There is no gentle method of breaking such chains because the key is not in your hands. It has been locked up and kept in the library of the enemy. Evil covenants are giants pursuing many people. They have to be stopped and destroyed completely, in Jesus’ mighty name.
4. Self-inflicted giants: A lot of people are their own enemies, and they inflict sufferings on their own lives by themselves. Many people would have had problems at all in their lives, if immediately they started to talk, somebody put a little hole in their lips and then locked them up with a padlock. Day by day many people harm themselves with their own mouths. It reminds me of one man of God who observed three days dry fast with aggressive prayers using Psalm 35, that God should combat, and defeat his enemies. During the first two days of his dry fast no word, vision or dream came from the Lord. The man of God nonetheless continued to pray. It was on the third day that the strange response from the Lord came to him. He felt a terrible whip on his back. When that persisted, he had to cry to God to deal with his enemies and not him. It was then that the Lord told him that he was his own enemy. The Lord said He would not have whipped him, if he had not persistently prayed that He should deal with his enemies. I hope you are not fighting against yourself. If you are, you better repent.
5. Accidental: The Bible says, there are arrows that fly about at noon and there are destructions moving by night, seeking whom to devour. If then you just keep roaming about and you are the unserious kind of believer who will go and be serving them rice at unbelievers’ parties and you even sweat to cook the food for them. When the arrows are flying about, you will be located easily and then problems will come. I know a man, who went to a party at Ikorodu. He would have done himself a lot of good by staying at home to pray with his wife and children. he did not to this, rather, he went to the party and sat down and when food was served, his was the last one to be served. But as they put his food on the table, he suddenly saw from the corner of his eyes, a snake crawling towards him from the same house where his food was served. He tried to run, but the more he tried the more his legs were glued to the ground. He couldn’t scream too. His heart was beating fast as the snake came to his table. No one else saw the snake. The snake climbed up and moved round his body and finally put some poison into the man’s mouth and then went back into the house again. It was then he opened his eyes and regain consciousness. The question is who sent him there? If he stayed at home he would have avoided it.
6. Demonic problems: These are problems caused by the devil and his cohorts. These are giants too. A lot of people are saying they want deliverance, because certain spirits are in operation in their lives.
7. Spiritual carelessness: This is when prayer is done haphazardly, and Bible reading is done only when you feel inspired to do so. When you are spiritually careless, anything can happen. A careless soldier at the war front is only putting himself into serious trouble.
8. Inherited problems: These can come into a person’s life from the parents or ancestors and become giants. When such problems come the affected person will be harassed endlessly by the giants.
9. The flesh: Many people now find it difficult to put their flesh under control. If you cannot control your flesh, get ready for trouble.
10. Rejection: A lot of people are suffering from the spirit of rejection. There is a wound inside the spirit because of what somebody has done to them in the past which is really horrible and the devil is keeping it fresh in their minds. The evil spirit will continually remind them of what they did to them. If this your case, then the spirit of rejection is there obviously in place and in active operation too.
11. Household wickedness: there are terrible enemies within families that cause untold havoc. If a household enemy is harassing your life, why not tell it to Jesus. He will avenge you of their evil activities.
12. God Himself: Jonah was sent to Nineveh by God, but he decided to go to Tarshish. So the Lord himself, and not the devil decided to fight Jonah, and when they threw Jonah overboard, He commanded the fish to swallow him. So when God is fighting you, the only solution is obedience. We are going to pray the following prayer points.
PRAYER POINTS
1. Every problem that has converted itself to giant in my life be slain, in the name of Jesus.
2. I release myself from the bondage of spiritual giants, in the name of Jesus.
3. Be specific and command any spiritual giants in your life to be slain, in the name of Jesus.
4. I release myself from the bondage of household enemies, in the name of Jesus.
5. I command every evil family tree to be uprooted, in the name of Jesus.
6. Every evil consumption from household wickedness, depart, in the name of Jesus.
7. All my benefits that have been captured by household enemies be released now, in the name of Jesus.
8. All the evil masquerades harassing my life, begin to fight yourselves, in the name of Jesus.
