Summary: There are many wrong roads, but only one right road.

GOING THE WRONG DIRECTION

Pr 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof [are] the ways of death.

I. THE CONVICTION THAT MAN MAY HOLD

“There is a way which seemeth right”

A. MOST MEN ARE BLIND TO THEIR OWN FAULTS.

(Proverbs 16:2) All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. (KJV)

(Proverbs 21:2) Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts. (KJV)

1. All their designs are right.

2. All their doings are right.

B. MOST MEN LIKE TO BRAG OF THEIR OWN

FAITHFULNESS.

(Proverbs 20:6) Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? (KJV)

1. They will talk a great deal of their goodness.

2. They will talk a great deal of their generosity

II. THE COURSE THAT MAN WILL TAKE

A. WILL BE THE WRONG WAY

1. It will be in opposition to the Word of God.

2. It will be in opposition to the Will of God.

B. WILL BE A WAYWARD WAY.

(Leading further away from Christ)

III. THE CONSEQUENCES THAT MAN WILL FACE.

“The end thereof [are] the ways of death.”

A. MAN’S WAY ENDS IN DEATH.

(Romans 6:23) For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (KJV)

B. MAN’S WAY ENDS IN DESTRUCTION.

(Proverbs 29:1) He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. (KJV)

C. MAN’S WAY ENDS IN DESPAIR.

(Revelation 20:11-15) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. (KJV)
